to be real, season 2 was when I 1st fell in love with The Wire.

Season 2 was about average every day workers jus tryin to make it. season 1 was great, but I jus kinda get tired of seein black ppl sell drugs. I went into it thinkin. "this story has been told a thousand time b4. meh." plus im a sucker for crime dramas. n season 2 started out with the police tryin to solve the case of those dead broads in the shipping containter. Nick was my nigga, Ziggy pissed me off at the end. Lester was a g. and seein the Greek was coo was fuck. plus in season 2 had the classic line from the Greek. "my name is not my name. Im not even greek."

I could go on 4ever....

Interesting when you think about Marlo saying "my name is my name"

I would love to see a prequel film and a new series of the young boys going forward.

I think all the young boys have 2 characters they take after...mike took after both Omar and chris meaning he is gonna be a problem. His childhood and personality are similar to chris...his street methods will be closer to Omar. The two characters on the show he spoke respectfully of the entire show were chris and Omar (he respected how Omar came with it).

Namond: is bunny colvin...and deangelo...he is deangelo because he is the boy that gets shoved into a world he ain't built for because of family ties... He is bunny because he will be the one with authority and he will never forget his boys (the scene at the end where bunny calls him inside when his mans is riding by) he will be the one bending the rules trying to allow both worlds to coexist while alternatively asking his boys to make a better way. (Amsterdam)

Randy: has Stringer Bell personality...business savvy (his candy shit). But you can see him turning towards the Marlo aspect with the hard stoicness developed from being in Foster home. (Him needing to let people know what he is about like Marlo needing no one to disrespect his name)

Dukie: he is obviously Bubs...with drugs and potential. But he is also a lot like prezbo being put in the situation that he was forced into a situation by affiliation as well (forced drug dealing...he is like prez more than deangelo because he saw his own way out of dope dealing)

Spider: Avon because of his upbringing and being in boxing...and cuddie because at the end he is running the pit showing boddie as his character development and Cuddie is boddies direction. Because Carver and Cuddie seemed to be the characters he had similarities with

I think people are trying too hard to draw connections between the boys and the older characters. The show is clearly trying to show us that those kids become the next generation. It is also clearly showing us that they take on roles that were once filled by other characters in the show. I don't think it was ever suggested that any of the boys were meant to be clones of other characters though. Yes, Michael is supposed to fill the void left by Omar's death. That doesn't mean that he's going to inherit all of Omar's characteristics.

what was said again to have niggas sayin mike got his booty hole touched again? nh

Rewatch the episode when the dad comes back, how Michael reacts, the conversation he has and then how Chris reacts when he beats that nigga to death. Think of all their other murders. Clean kills...this shit was clearly personal and pissed him off to a different level. As for the kids being younger versions of older characters they're not 100% clones but it's clear from how their story ends on the show it's a look into how the older characters were drawn into the lives they led. There's a reason they show Dookie going off with the money to buy heroin (Bubbles), Michael robbing people (Omar), Randy going from a happy kid to a cold hearted person who cares only about himself (Marlo), and Namond being the one who "made it"...he's what DeAngelo could have been had he not been forced to sell drugs by his family's name.

You reaching with some of those comparisons. There is nothing that suggests Marlo's path was anything like Randy's, and Marlo certainly isn't the only cold hearted person in the show. DeAngelo and Namond are nothing alike at all.

Naymond is a lot like DeAngelo. They both got shoved into the streets. D'Angelo got fucked over by his momma...and baybdidnt allow the same to happen to his kid. Randy had to protect his name after being called a Smith. That's in the story. Marlo was always overly protecting his name. That's not reaching. The hustler shit with the candy and shit to me is stringer bell-esque....there are obvious connections...are they identical...no...are they there yes....

I'm a diehard Wire fan, watched and rewatched all seasons numerous times. I just wanna throw my 2 cents in.

Saying season 2 was 'the backbone' or, 'slept on' or any other variation does not make you cool.

Season 2 rated against any other tv show: it was good.

Season 2 rated up against the other GREAT seasons of The Wire: it was ass.

Period.

It was only "important" because it obviously was an integral part in the timeline: It was season 2. That does not mean it was good tv.

daneglo was not a gump nigga like naymond smh yall reaching.D put in work and stood tall for his fam. nay couldn't even check lil kernard

soon yall going to be saying d was like bubbles cuz they had a drug problem

anyways lets spark some discussion.

I know David Simon told the story he wanted to tell and ended at 5 seasons but if there was a 6th season what would you have liked them to examine? do you think they still coukd have even told another story?

my fantasy season would be them tackiling religion and its connection with the hood. maybe pull a season 4 and have the central plot circle around new main characters, maybe a couple niggas trying to find redemption. maybe show the corruption within the church.

DeAngelo was in the streets because it was the family business. He wasn't shoved into it anymore than Avon was. He might have felt obligated to go that route, but that's completely different than Naymond having his mother literally make him go out there and be a drug dealer.

And are you really suggesting that Randy is the new Marlo because he had to protect his name and the real Marlo had a thing about his name. That's nowhere near the same thing. Randy's issue with his name was a matter of survival. Marlo's was a matter of pride.

Lmaooo Foh

Deangelo was a moist faggot

Namond might have been a lil soft but he had heart, it just wasn't into the streets

I agree season 2 wasn't bad but compared to the other seasons it wasn't all that great. It was tied with season 5 as the worse season of the series to me but it was still good.

I liked the way they introduced how the drugs got into the country and how it effected other communities and demographics.

It was ingenious how each season they showed how drugs effected the city of Baltimore. Shit the city was the real main character of the show.
