People just say shit to follow what other people say. Stillmatic wasnt a freaking classic. You won't fine too many big nas fans that will say this but its the truth.

God's Son is leaps and bounds better than Stillmatic. God's Son is Nas 3rd best album unless you count Lost Tapes

Stillmatic had about three songs that were assjuice. Straight Wack. Braveheart Party, Rule feat. Amerie and My Country.

those songs were ass.

God's Son had no weak song on it. The only subpar song was Hey Nas. every thing else on that shit was dope.

i think stillmatic was a classic.. definitly one of his 3 best albums... "rewind" got yourself a gun" "youre the man"... but like every nas album it does get worse towards the end

its a great album but it cant be considered a classic when it has 3 horrible songs on it. Rewind is one of the most creative songs. One Mic is a classic song.

but track for track, God's Son is a better album

Rule was wack. Im sorry. decent lyrics couldnt save that weak ass beat and chorus.
My Country was bland. it was a weak version of Let Me Talk To You from Iam. seemed extrac forced.

Zone Out beat was dope and had some dope lyrics on it

Zone Out>>>those songs

Zone Out>>>> those songs.

To each his own.

But if your listening to Nas for his beat selection, that's a fail in itself.

If your listening to Nas and not expecting some kind of growth/experimentation/subject matter; you ain't really following dude's music.

The only two albums that I really could feel were Nastradamus and Street's Disciple, even though there had some dope tracks on them, as a collective, they both seemed patchy.

All the others were either classic (10/10), near classic(9/10) or simply solid (8/10)

Illmatic- a young street poet giving you a raw, unadulterated glimpse/documenting the street life/mindset.

It was written- A young street poet experimenting with the lavish mafioso theme/persona again to document street tales (that was popular ala OBCL)- 9/10

I AM- disjointed, but shoulda been a classic with all the missing joints (torn between going commercial n remaining tru to self) still a 7.5/10

Nastradamus - Rushed, mediocre at best but some dope tracks 6/10

Stillmatic- slightly overrated but still a comeback; some gems on them (Ur Da Man, Poison, Every Ghetto and some really subpar tracks (8/10)

GodSon- the best start and end of any Nas album IMO. One of his most cohesive, introspective albums. Maybe my personal favourite after IWW.

Lost tapes- 10/10

Street's Disciple- Good but something missing (7.5)

HipHopis Dead- Sparked discussion, made its point, some good tracks (8)

Untitled- Made a bold statement but done well (8.5)

Distant Relatives-

If you've grown and matured with Nas, you know what he stands for and appreciate his growth musically. He actually maybe the most important rapper of our generation. Still GOAT musically. Do folks really listen to lyrics? I remember having to rewind shit just to rewrite on paper and recite stuff. I had my doubts but there are a few people to pass the torch to- J.Cole is the new Nas. I've heard enough and I'm convinced. Drake maybe the new Jay. Hustle the new Snoop.

Agreed. His subject matter was diverse and deep. His flow was great, and his production was soulful except for Made You Look & Zone Out. I think God Son got over shadowed by Lost Tapes which came out around the same time.

You have good taste in Hip Hop. I never considered J. Cole as a new Nas though, I consider Lupe a new Nas, just as Nas was considered a new Rakim. Like Nas, Lupe will surpass his predecessor.

Lupes style is nowhere near Nas, Lupe is a wordplay and double entandre rapper, his style is more GZA and Jay-z. Jay Electronica is more Nas though.

I think that was the last good Album Nas made cos God's Son, Street's Disciple, Hip-Hop Is Dead & Untitled were poor or below average

But i dunno if Nas will ever make another classic like Illmatic or atleast a good Album like Stillmatic in his career again but of the legacy of Illmatic being so great no matter how many more poor or average Album's he makes he will be remembered as a legend but his catalouge is getting worst and worst until he makes another good Album like Stillmatic

then u not a fan.
