People always talk about how they wanna hear Rap Song's that are dope and have a message and are positive

Mockingbird is a perfect example of a deep Song with real Lyrics people can relate to i mean it get's no deeper then making a Song about your daughter, the Beat was dope the Hook was great and it was released as a Single and reached top 10 on the Chart

But why is it that people on the IC sleep on a Song like Mockingbird which had emotion and real life Lyrics and content everyone can relate to?

I think that was the last good Album Nas made cos God's Son, Street's Disciple, Hip-Hop Is Dead & Untitled were poor or below average

But i dunno if Nas will ever make another classic like Illmatic or atleast a good Album like Stillmatic in his career again but of the legacy of Illmatic being so great no matter how many more poor or average Album's he makes he will be remembered as a legend but his catalouge is getting worst and worst until he makes another good Album like Stillmatic

Sucks being you.....

Every conscious black man I know was bumpin "Untitled' like that shit was Illmatic.

nas is the greatest example of a thug-poet turned conscious-Afrikan and those within the community can appreciate that because the majority of our artists become more "suburban" as they gain more popularity and appeal. (jayZ, Ludacris etc. etc.)

Nas should be applauded for crafting lyrics that provoke thought and insight on the intricate matters of hood politics beyond drugs and guns. Artistic growth in the direction of activism usually is celebrated if its Lennon or Bono but Nas gets no love.....

It's not that it's just i had a life where i faced harsh realities it's the card some people are dealt with so i relate to Eminem's Music i like the emotion, soul and message he put's in his Music it's like therapy

I don't think you understand what it's like trying to feed your kid working a minimum wage job, or to be cheated on by someone you love or to be thrown out by your momma, or to get over a drug addiction, living on goverment support money and not having parents buy you nice things that all your friends had

Eminem provides a dream for people that come from my type of enviroment coming from rag's to riches while making Music that is deep and people can listen to just to get by while they struggling

You gotta come from that place to understand Eminem & 2pac

Give the nigga a break man, you act like it's Easy to top a classic. Atleast he gave us 3 Still/ill and It was written and plus IMO God Son wasn't that bad to me at all. Sometimes you gonna swing and miss with a few projects if you been in the game over a few years especially 10 plus. Cut the man some slack.

Please dont say emenim has SOUL in his music.

Tupac can write a rhyme in 5 min's rhyming the same 3 syllable words and people will say they FEEL his music.....thats SOUL.

People dont feel emenims music, they are impressed by his wordplay, humor and vocabulary...

Personally, I don't why people compare every Nas album to Illmatic, especially since every album since Illmatic was totally different from Illmatic. God's Son was more personal, SD & Untitled were more political. Hip Hop Is Dead was a critique of Hip Hop, etc. Illmatic was a great album, but it had no specific concept. Every album since Illmatic had some form of theme.

With that said, I liked God's Son, Hip Hop Is Dead, & Untitled. SD was ok. He's been growing as an artist so he'll never be Nasty Nas again. He graduated from rapping about the projects to now rapping about world. Some cats abandoned Jay-Z when he started rapping about being grown. Artists grow, if you can't keep up or grow with them stop listening to them.
