You really strike me as a dude that doesn't know what he's talking about. Could be because you're young, so you're not old enough to remember how shit was back then. So it's all good.

And I never said rappers didn't get play. Biggie's critically acclaimed status was matched by a high level of mainstream success, unlike artists like Nas and Wu. Biggie made the right tone of rap music that was commercially successful, which is congruent with top 40 radio. Nas and Wu were not viable in the mainstream. That's just a fact. Biggie was the first East Coast rapper to really crossover and experience success of that magnitude, setting up the path for artists like Jay-Z to follow.

Pac had the game on lock. But not in '94. That was Biggie's era.

*face palm* smh...( plus u jus names 1 year how and the hell is that a era) shyt wayne had 2008 on lock is that his era? gucci had 2009 on lock is that his era?

You right. I meant starting in '94 til about '97. I thought I alluded to that. My fault.

First and formost there is a lot of false information being said here so let me clear some things up. Let me just say I really do like T.I., I love how his career has gone thus far. He's not the strongest lyrically but he makes up for that with a great flow and voice. He's also very good at picking the right beats and productions. With all that said, T.I. isn't holding Biggie's Mic cord. First and formost. "Life After Death" out sold T.I. entire career thus far by itself. "Ready To Die" has sold half of T.I. discography. That's Impact. T.I's highest selling album is Double Platinum "KING". Biggie Has sold more than T.I. just off his singles alone if you include his features Here's a looke at B.I.G.' Entire Sales Discography:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Notorious_B.I.G._discography

The Notorious B.I.G., an American rapper. He is one of the best selling hip hop artists of all time with over 30 million albums sold worldwide and 20 million in the U.S. The Notorious B.I.G remians the only artist in Music History to have two posthumous #1 Billboard Hot 100 singles. His album "Life After Death" is 1 of only 3 rap albums certified Diamond by the RIAA. It also made the largest jump to number 1 on the Billboard 200 chart in history, jumping from number 176 to number 1 in one week.

Album sales:

LAD: 10 Million Domestic, 17 million Worldwide

RTD: 4 Million Domestic, 8 Million Worldwide

BA: 2 Million Domestic, 4 Million Worldwide

DTFC: 1 Million Dometic, 2 Million Worldwide

Greatest Hits: Gold

Notorious Soundtrack: Gold

JM: Platinum Domestic, 2 Million Worldwide

= 19.5 Million Domestic, 32 Million Worldwide

Single Sales:

Juicy: Gold

Big Poppa: Platinum

One More Chance: Platinum

Hypnotize: Platinum

Mo Money, Mo Plroblems: Platinum

Sky's the Limit: Gold

Nasty Girl: Gold

= 5.5 Million single Sales

Featured Singles sales:

Get Money: Platinum

Playa's Anthem: Gold

Crush on You: Platinum

Been Around The World: Platinum

All About The Benji's: Platinum

Victory: Gold

Only You: Gold

Can't You See: Gold

Real Love: Gold

Flava In Your Ear: Gold

=7 Million

The Fact that Biggie sold half of Pac's and Eminem's Discography and sold just as much as likes of Jay Z and Outkast speaks volumes of his Legacy. Sure he sold a lot of records after his death but while he was alive. "Ready To Die" was certified 2xPlatinum in 1994 during a time Eastcoast rappers were barely going gold. Factor in the fact Biggie was a strong "Singles" artist. His singles sold very well while he was alive. His singles charter higher than his competition like Tupac and other popular rappers as "One More chance" was the highest debut single in Billboard History at the time tying Michael Jackson's "Scream". Speaking of MJJ, Biggie was his favorite rapper and he featured him on 2 of his albums. Sorry T.I. has released 6 LP's and none of them can see "Ready to Die" or "Life After Death". Biggie is superior to T.I. in every catagory, it's not even close. Lyricism, Storytelling, Flow, Versitility, Classic Albums, Classic Songs, etc. I can't think of one thing T.I. does better than Biggie besides release more albums cause he's alive, LOL. Also one of T.I. Biggest Hits "Bring Em Out" which samples Jay Z sampling Biggie. This is obviously a Shock Thread. T.I. is a dope artist who will most definitely go down as one of the South's best but Big is a Legendary artist that got the attention of Legends like Michael Jackson and will go down as one of the blueprints of our genre. Big Different. You will never see a T.I. album talked about on the Level of any of Big's albums. I can't think of one T.I. single seeing "Juicy", "Warning" or "One more Chance". Shock Thread, try again.

everybody i ask who 24-41 say Pac had shit on lock

how old are you

I'll be 28 in June. And I vividly remember that era like it was yesterday. Pac was a force. But no one reigned at the top of the charts like Biggie did. Even if you aren't old enough to remember the era, all you have to do is look up the chart trajectories. Pac really didn't start crossing over, mainstream wise, until AFTER Biggie did.

Exactly, for a new Artist, Biggie was smashing the charts. His debut single "Juicy" was an instant Top 30 Hit on the Billboard Hot 100. His 2nd single "Big Poppa" was a Top 10 Billiboard hit and got him his first grammy nomination. "One More Chance" is one of the most successful rap singles Ever. Not to mention he was smashing the charts on features like "Real Love, Flava in your ear, Only You and Can't You See". Biggie was such a force on the charts. Biggie also went Platinum before Tupac as his debut album was certified Platinum on the day "Me against the World" Came out which later would become Pac's 1st Platinum album as his 1st two albums only went Gold as well as Thug life album. Some of these poeple just aren't old enough or didn't do the research. Big was huge while he was ALIVE and his death only made him bigger cause people remembered how Big he was while alive.

i like biggie better however it is a good argument and......BIGGIE DID NOT SELL THAT MANY GODDAMN ALBUMS WHEN HE WAS ALIVE ONLY 1 MILLION FOR READY TO DIE AND ANOTHER 1 MILLION ADDED AFTER HE DIED......I'm 26 and biggie was not some superstar when he was alive bone thugs, warren G, Wu Tang Clan, Coolio, snoop, tupac, dr dre, (was more known as a rapper back then) were all more popular and sold more than biggie. Biggies own mom said biggie never hit the heights he was gonna hit while he was alive. Biggie didn't even have a top ten hit when he was alive. Juicy never reached over 28 and "give me one more chance" never reached top 10. 7million my ass

SMh.........Check the stats Fool.......

Who cares? Any artist who dies is gonna experience a surge in sales. It happens with EVERYONE. It still doesn't change the fact that Biggie was doing numbers when he was alive. Look up the stats, b.

Yes Death helps a lot of people's sales but what I noticed is only Iconic Historic figures sale this well after death. Bob Marley, Jimi Hendrix, Michael Jackson, The Beatles, Elvis, Nirvana, Tupac and Biggie are the only deceased artist to go Diamond after they died. Everyone else didn't have that type of Impact. Why didn't Big Pun, Big L or Eazy E go Diamond after they died? People like to throw Biggie's death around like that was the only reason he sold. "LAD" sold cause it was a Classic album, both disc are sick. If "LAD" was a wack album it would of still sold but it wouldn't of gone Diamond. Diamond sales show that album just touched a lot of people, it was undeniable.

And I don't really co-sign Biggie as being the GOAT. And I think there are plenty of rappers who are better/more talented than Biggie. But to understate his influence/impact on the game is non-sensical. T.I. is NOT one of those rappers.

Niggaz are on crack. Biggie was not that big when he was alive. he was like Puns level when he was alive. You never seen BIG at no award shows besides them black award shows like soul train or the source. you never seen him perform or even asked to perform at mtv awards or even introduce an award. BIG sold 1 million when he was alive.1 million or even two million didnt make a superstar back then. the Dogg Pound sold two million you gonna say they had that era on lock two right? he was no where near Pacs level of fame. maybe to hiphop fans but not to people as a whole. you know when you a superstar rapper when white folks say i wanna do a song with him like pac, jay-z eminem and etc. he was a star but no superstar. If you werent into hiphop or black most likely you didnt know who the hell Big was. However, Big change the game with drug raps even though he might have not been the first he was the one to make it famous. before him, most niggas rapped about how gangsta they are and how they are a pimp. But you big stans are living a lie saying that nigga was big like pac or he was the second biggest
