Could some of you compare to what is available in these countries you live/have lived in? Or even just differences you've experienced while travelling.

My 2 cents to the thread. I currently live and study in the US. Dual US and Nigerian citizen. Lived in Abuja and Lagos Nigeria for long periods of time. Also traveled to UK, Switzerland and other western countries, as well as Thailand, Malaysia, Dubai etc.

Long story short, the US is still the best place for a US born African American. If you are foreign born like myself, then it can be either the states or your home country (depending on preferences). I like America for the liberties and development, but prefer Nigeria for the community and general "home" feeling. Like someone mentioned earlier, if you live in Abuja or Lagos and have your money up, then you'll really appreciate the country. That said, I really think people should try and travel outside of Western Civilization for sometime and gain insight on their current lives. The easiest way to critique your current living situation is to look at it from a distance.

As far as European countries, they are nice and all to live and work in for a time period, but I couldn't really see one laying down roots there (aside from the UK, but they are getting overcrowded). I've met many African Americans that have gone to Nigeria or Ghana and never came back. Ghana is preferable as its a little easier to adjust for a foreigner. Nigeria can be very hectic to people coming from the West.

I met a man from NC A&T in Abuja, Nigeria, he told me this:

"In Nigeria I'm not a black man, I'm simply a man"

He's been in Nigeria for the past 7 years with no intentions of moving back to the states permanently.

Do your research, test the waters and see what's best for you. I'll still say the USA, just because of the community of other African Americans and the liberties generally enjoyed here.

Other than that, Ghana trumps the USA in every other facet imho. What makes it great is also the reason they're poor; too friendly and welcoming of others. Trusting, peaceful folks (probably the safest place on the continent) but too fucking religious smfh.

It's not so much so that things aren't available, it's just they are often more expensive. For example, when my friends go to Nigeria for extended periods of time, they often load up on certain food items and appliances that are not easily found there or don't have the same quality. Little things like body care materials (make up for girls, specific brands of cleansers etc), certain snacks (granola bars, cheetos etc). Clothes tend to be the bigger thing as the boutiques that carry Western brands can be a bit expensive, again, if you have a good job it should be no problem.

But what you see very quickly is certain items you felt you absolutely needed, you can go without. Moreover, many Nigerians travel between the UK frequently, so you'll always know someone coming from "the West" that can pick up and item or two for you.

Biggest thing missing is the efficiency in conducting tasks. This is more so because the country is still developing and hasn't imbibed the principles of industry (efficiency, utility etc).

Go with an open mind and do not expect it to be the US and you will do well. You don't have to relocate there or even like it. But do gain a new perspective and outlook when you return to the states.

It's funny you said that because I just edited the OP saying Ghana seems like a good place. I'd want to go on a trip and experience what it like before making a decision anyway. That may be the first stop.

I always encourage my people to travel. so they can become global citizens and be able to compete on a global scale. unlike what some think....this is a game of meters... not microns.

getting out an knowing how to navigate the world and different cultures will only strengthen you as a person. and that in turn should help you help others.

so yea talk to other black Americans who travel. where they travel too? what was the purpose? how long was they there? alot of the type of interaction makes a big difference how you see things.

South America, Middle East ect. eventually I moved to Europe and stayed for 8 years. seen it all there. eventually I decided that the rest of the world ain't shit and USA is where its at. To answer your thread the best way I can, the first thing you should do is research a place you want to go. If you want to go to Africa for example, you'll have to study the colonial history of that nation. that info alone will tell you the language(s) they speak and the tribes in respective regions. Also it depends on what kind of work you want to do that determines which part you should settle. Some parts of Africa like Rwanda are more fertile for agriculture than Botswana, so if you wanted to farm food you may have some problems in Botswana.

The mental voyage is more difficult than the physical though. Many are unwilling to do without all that they know. Are you willing to do without access to Smartphones, or even electricity? You may need to study survivalist tactics like you'll see in "The Walking Dead."

I'm not implying that these amenities don't exist in Africa, because they do, but people there live closer to nature than we do. They aren't as attached to worldly possessions as we are. Most noticeably, family units are larger and more closely knit than ours here. The way of life is different, a lot more self-sufficient.

Then you should visit a place you like there. If you like what you see, you save some ends and apply for citizenship. Save some money and invest private enterprises.

My pops visited my homeland for the first time (Nicaragua) he said he loves it over there and wouldn't mind after retiring, living over there. Nicaragua holds the biggest percentage of black population in Central America... But from living over there as a child that was always irrelevant because at least I personally in my country that racism shit is rare... Growing up over there I remember we were taught no differences as far as race, ethnicity, religion all that... That being said I think is a good country to go live in but it is important to have somebody because I take it to say a lot of Latin American countries somewhat depend on the economy of the United States... Basically my uncles are lawyers over there and also do other business and they told me the economy reflects good over there when economy moves here well, and not to mention Nicaragua does not hold a big relation to the States so to speak but it would benefit... One US dollar is 27 pesos in Nicaragua. My pops told me for certain things is an advantage but for other is not a big difference from here a lot of things changed over there so they have a lot of things we got here but prices are maybe higher. For example if you buy a flat screen tv over there if it cost $400 here per say over there is gonna cost you $550 maybe more... Now food is a better thing with like $50 for example you buy food plenty of food for example

Even before I so called "woke up", I never looked down on Africans and looked at us as one in the same. I had a few African homies growing up and they used to always tell us how/why there is animosity between AA and Africans and it stuck with me. But I always had a good moral foundation when came to dealing with ALL people, so it was just reinforced when I began to grow spiritually as an adult.

I start with Africa because that is the last place we had a connection to before our ancestors where enslaved and physically/mentally/spiritually broken. So it only makes sense to go back there with people who have that connection and look like we do.

With what seems to be a change in your beliefs from what I used to know about you....what does Deuteronomy 30 and Ezekiel 37 mean to you now? Without getting too far off topic.

Deuteronomy 30 tells me that in the last days there will be a 3 fold return of the people of Israel.

1. A return to the LORD

2. A return to the TORAH

3. A return to the LAND

All of these things have happened in part so far, but the complete fulfillment hasn't happened yet and will not happen in full till Messiah comes. It is the final redemption of the people of Israel. Amen.

Ezekiel 37 means that God will make good on all His promises. The dead in Him will live again. And God will unite the whole house of Israel as 1 when Messiah sets up His eternal kingdom at His 2nd coming.

But let me just get 1 thing clear, I do not subscribe in any way shape or form to "Black Hebrew Israelite" doctrines or beliefs.

I belong to the Israel of God by the new birth in Messiah! I am the spiritual descendant of Abraham because of my mutual faith in the same true and living God that we both believe in who is Yeshua Ha Mashiach!

Could I be a natural descendant of Abraham, in accordance to the flesh? I honestly don't care, because my salavtion is not dependant on my natural lineage, but rather my spritual lineage! The question that pertains to life and death is, "HAVE YOU BEEN BORN AGAIN BY FAITH IN MESSIAH?"

The question for inheriting eternal life is not "are you a physical descendant of Abraham?"

God forbid that salvation is wrought by claiming direct natural lineage to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob! The cross of Christ has become of no effect towards such people. The blood of Christ has been trampled upon by such people. And only unregenerate people, who are totally devoid of spiritual discernment because they do not know the scriptures teach such things. God have mercy!

Honestly I've lived and traveled all over the world. And this is the bottom line, out of all the places I lived, including the USA I have always felt the safest in Israel. I was there when the current waves of attacks started in October and I was still mobbing around the city, trusting in the LORD, and praying without ceasing. You see @Swiffness! God hasn't given me the spirit of fear, but of power, of love, and of a sound mind! Hallelujah!
