JBL on why WWE shouldn’t do a Shield reunion

On Monday’s episode of Bring it to the Table, JBL, Corey Graves and Peter Rosenberg discussed the possibility of a Shield reunion with Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins. Rosenberg asked whether a Shield reunion would benefit Reigns, Ambrose or Rollins and JBL didn’t think it would. Here is JBL’s response:

“No, absolutely not. Roman Reigns is a guy that I think we want him to carry the company. We want him to sell tickets. Roman Reigns with the Shield did not sell tickets. Roman Reigns as the guy that everybody comes to boo, sells tickets and sells merchandise.”

Corey Graves chimed in with the following:

“I love the potential for Rollins and Ambrose. I’m very curious that if you did do a full-blown three member Shield reunion, would the WWE Universe react differently to Roman Reigns? That is what made him a star to begin with.”

JBL responded to Grave’s comments by simply stated that Reigns didn’t sell tickets while being a member of the Shield.

maybe he didnt sell tickets, but i think for most of us in here at least with out the shield we might not have cared about raw or smackdown

eventually the Shield will reunite just like every other faction (question is will it be a one-off or a prolonged angle)

but i am not buying JBL's rationale...it might be a step backwards for Reigns (reigns in main event of summerslam while Rolins/Ambrose are in angle with Casero/Shemus) but he never sold tickets as a member of the shield cause they were a unit and rarely in the main event.

The shield is the reason Roman got over cause he was able to play the background, get the big spots and develop as the least experienced member of the crew.

its funny that Reigns was the most over member during the Peak of the Shield but once WWE put a rocket on his back we all turned on him. I still think the worst thing WWE did was have him win the RR when we all wanted DB to win. imo thats why he got such nuclear heat in Philly and hasnt recovered since (though it pains me to say WWE was right cause Reigns is still active while DB had to retire)

They weren't "right", they had roman win bc he's the "man" and DB lost bc he's a smaller guy they just didn't see fit.. that win shouldve been DB's period. I've never seen a wwe wrestler that hot in years

Paul Heyman is reportedly pushing for Brock Lesnar to drop the WWE Universal Title to Samoa Joe at SummerSlam later this month, according to Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated.

As noted, Heyman announced on this week's RAW that he and Lesnar will leave WWE if Lesnar loses the title in the SummerSlam Fatal 4 Way with Joe, Roman Reigns and Braun Strowman. Barrasso points to how a SummerSlam loss would allow Lesnar to take needed time off to begin training for the rumored UFC return fight against Jon Jones, who would have to move to heavyweight.

Lesnar is signed to WWE through WrestleMania 34 in 2018 and there is no chance of him opting out early. SI reports that Lesnar's UFC return is imminent and that he will still work the 2018 Royal Rumble and WrestleMania 34. The UFC fight has been rumored for November or December of this year. As noted, Lesnar is also advertised for the No Mercy pay-per-view in Los Angeles, CA from the Staples Center on Sunday, September 24th.

As noted, WWE Raw star Bayley suffered a shoulder injury during her match against Nia Jax on Raw this week, putting her SummerSlam title match against Alexa Bliss in jeopardy.

According to The Dirty Sheets podcast, in association with Sportskeeda, sources in WWE are 90% sure at this time that Bayley will not be able to compete at SummerSlam. The final announcement on the Bayley injury and her PPV status should come soon.

The report, which you can watch below, adds that should Bayley not be able to compete at WWE SummerSlam, a number one contenders match will take place on Monday Night Raw next week featuring Sasha Banks vs Nia Jax. Should that match indeed take place, Banks is expected to win and go on to face Alexa Bliss at SummerSlam:
