I hope y'all not falling for the HBCU con game that that white supremacist Trump is pushing?

If Feds giving additional funds, I'm for it, most of those schools don't have large endowments.

I can get down with this request

"HBCU leaders have asked the Trump administration to include an aspirational funding goal. They want HBCUs to be awarded 5 percent of total federal grant, internship and cooperative agreement funding and 10 percent of all federal contract funding to colleges and universities. They say that doing so would nearly double federal support to the HBCU sector."

Not falling for anything, but I'm not mad at any of these HBCU presidents for being there. I went to a HBCU, graduated from one, and contribute financially & with my time back to my HBCU. My school is doing well, but we as a group need some help. If Trump and DeVos are talking about giving some type of aide or help, then we need to listen.

The House Republican Obamacare replacement plan has been leaked and it as bad as expected. The Republican plan would kill subsidies and Medicaid expansion. It would allow states to create high-risk pools with benefit caps and would cause millions of Americans to lose their health care. The Republican plan is a death sentence for millions of Americans who benefit from the ACA.

The Republican replacement keeps costs low by giving sick people less health insurance. What is going to happen to people who have cancer and other illnesses when their coverage is capped is that many of these individuals will not be able to afford life-saving health care, and they will die.

The fact that more people are going to be left without coverage, or they will have coverage that doesn’t pay for much is going to devastate the health care sector of the economy.

The Republican plan is not going to give people a subsidy to help individuals pay for health insurance. Instead, people will have to pay for their health insurance, and then receive a yearly tax credit of $2,000-$4,000. The legislation would allow age discrimination in health insurance by permitting insurance companies to charge older people up to five times more than younger people.

Calling police officers the “frontline soldiers” in the fight against crime, Attorney General Jeff Sessions signaled Monday that the Trump administration’s Justice Department would take a new position in the Civil Rights Division’s approach to police abuse.

“We’ve got to go back and make sure that our police departments understand that they’re being supported, both by the Department of Justice as an ally, and by the American people,” Sessions told reporters at DOJ headquarters on Monday, in a preview of a speech he will give before a gathering of the nation’s attorneys general on Tuesday.

“I do believe the Department of Justice is the leading advocate for law enforcement in America, and I hope to be able to fulfill my responsibility in that regard,” Sessions said.

Asked by The Huffington Post whether he had read the Civil Rights Division’s investigative reports on the police departments in Chicago and Ferguson, Missouri, Sessions conceded he had not. But, he said, he didn’t think they were necessarily reliable.

“I have not read those reports, frankly. We’ve had summaries of them, and some of it was pretty anecdotal, and not so scientifically based,” Sessions said.

A DOJ report released in the final days of the Obama administration, based on an investigation that spanned nearly 14 months, detailed troubling patterns of unconstitutional conduct within the Chicago Police Department.

In Ferguson, much of the reporting was based upon the city’s very own reports, and indicated widespread abuse of constitutional rights of citizens.

Sessions said Monday he had “not made a decision” about how the DOJ would proceed in the Chicago case, but told reporters he was “really worried” about “the surge in murders” in the city. He was also troubled by the drop in the numbers of stop-and-frisk stops in Chicago, he said.

Sessions’ position echoed the view he expressed throughout his nomination, when he indicated he subscribed to the “bad apples” view of policing, which holds that police abuse is not systemic in certain departments but the fault of individual rogue actors. Sessions said during his confirmation hearing that it was a “difficult thing” for a city to face allegations they had systemically violated the civil rights of citizens.

“We’ve got to understand that police are the frontline soldiers in the effort to keep the crime under control, along with sheriffs’ deputies,” Sessions said on Monday. “Many departments are not doing well in terms of morale, in terms of following good policies.”

“Sometimes local police departments really step up and do a great job. It’s almost disrespectful [to] them for the feds to go in and try to take it over,” Sessions said in response to a question from The Huffington Post.

Sessions also said the nation had “gotten a little overconfident” about public safety and it affected how police responded to violence.

We need something tangible. Politicians love placating black people with HBCU. Foh. Not denying that they don't need support. But for me to truly believe they are sincere they should start by doing stuff for black people that can actually help us. Not all black people attend school.

Its like people want to be patted on the head never mind what Sessions is doing and not doing with the DOJ... Betsy Devos in the education department and legislations being proposed to criminalize protesting an broadening the definition of rioting.

Exactly while this same administration is gearing up to fuck over black people. Niggas is distracted by HBCU. If these people can create all these legislation to fuck over black people then they could easily help us with real tangible things.

Everything in politics is a game. At some point we have to get off the bench and start playing. If Trump passes an EO to help HBCU then good. You think Latinos would be upset if Trump was about to pass the Dream Act?

OMG HOW DARE SHE!! THATS THE OVAL OFFICE!!!

Usually, republicans support HBCU's more than democrats.

They both use the HBCU con game.

That's fine but putting money into the HBCU and going "see see look look we did something for black people". Is like changing your car sound system when your car can't start because it needs an alternator. All while they create laws to fuck over niggas, so when we say anything they can deflect into "but we donated money to HBCU's we ain't that bad".
