Keith Ellison is Deputy Chair.

Meaningless role. Tom Perez was outed in those Wikileaks as begin one of those who helped fix things against Bernie in the primaries. So now they skip over Ellison(who spoke for the Sanders wing), for a DWS establishment clone.

No different from keeping Pelosi in power, and now they showing they favor latinos going forward. Guess we'll have to wait another 3 and a half years till they care about our vote....uh, about our issues. The Dems can't even breathe without our support, but we put zero pressure on them.

I picked up your schtick in here. Like this is all negative. It was a successful strategy in the last election and I cant blame you for sticking to it going forward but everybody doesnt fall for it. Its quite transparent what you are doing actually.

Nah he's actually right, here. Perez is a bad pick.

Even this idiot knows it

‘We Never Win and We Don’t Fight to Win’: Trump Attacks Military During Speech

Speaking to a group of governors today at the White House, President Donald Trump revealed that he was going to increase military spending while finding cuts elsewhere through getting rid of waste and “doing more with less.”

At one point in his speech, the president went on a riff about how the military doesn’t win anymore, complaining that America used to always win wars but now is incapable of doing so.

“We must ensure that our courageous servicemen and women have the tools they can be to deter war, and when called upon to fight in our name, only do one thing — win,” he stated.

The president continued, “We have to win. We have to start winning wars again. I have to say, when I was young, in high school and college, everybody used to say we never lost a war. We never lost a war. You remember, some of you were right there with me, you remember, America never lost.”

POTUS then went on to claim that the military isn’t interested in winning a fight.

“We never win and we don’t fight to win,” he exclaimed. “We don’t fight to win. We’ve either got to win or don’t fight it at all.”

Trump further added that the amount of time, effort and money spent in the Middle East over the past 16-17 years has been wasted, saying that “it’s a mess we’ve never seen before.” The president then went on to discuss more of the budget proposals that he’ll be revealing tomorrow during his speech before Congress.

I guess Adolf never paid attention to that war he dodged in Vietnam...

ADL Calls On Gorka To Disavow Past Links To ‘Anti-Semitic Hate Groups’

The Anti-Defamation League wants White House aide Sebastian Gorka to disavow the “openly racist and anti-Semitic hate groups” he was linked to during his time in Hungarian politics in the mid-2000s.

“With anti-Semitism and hate on the rise in the United States and around the world, it is essential that Mr. Gorka makes it clear that he disavows the message and outlook of far-right parties such as Jobbik,” ADL CEO Jonathan Greenblatt said in a Friday statement later provided to TPM.

Greenblatt's statement came after The Forward published an investigation into Gorka's activities in Hungary in the aughts, including founding a far-right political party alongside two former members of Jobbik, a nationalist party in Hungary that has been accused of promoting anti-Semitic rhetoric. The Forward also reported that Gorka was a frequent contributor to Magyar Jelen, a newspaper known for publishing racist and anti-Semitic articles.

Gorka also wore a medal some Hungarian scholars associate with the admiral and World War II-era statesman Miklós Horthy, on whose watch hundreds and thousands of Jews were deported to Auschwitz, to a ball celebrating President Donald Trump’s inauguration. Gorka later said he wears the medal, a family heirloom, in remembrance of his father’s anti-Communist efforts in mid-century Hungary.

He responded similarly to the Forward’s report via email, writing, “My parents, as children, lived through the nightmare of WWII and the horrors of the Nyilas puppet fascist regime.” Nyilas is another name for the Arrow Cross regime that took power from Horthy at the end of World War II.

Breitbart News, where Gorka previously worked as national security editor, and a handful of Republican politicians have come to his defense.

In a Saturday Facebook post, Rep. Trent Franks (R-AZ) called Gorka’s reputation “unimpeachable” and said he was “the staunchest friend of Israel and the Jewish people.”

Read the ADL's full statement below:

We are deeply disturbed at the allegations that the Deputy Assistant to the President, Sebastian Gorka, may have had close ties to openly racist and anti-Semitic hate groups and figures while he was active in Hungarian politics. These are very serious charges. With anti-Semitism and hate on the rise in the United States and around the world, it is essential that Mr. Gorka makes it clear that he disavows the message and outlook of far-right parties such as Jobbik, which has a long history of stoking anti-Semitism in Hungary.

For clarification, Baby Boomers came a generation or two after the so called "Greatest Generation". They're not the same.

The Greatest Generation are the people who lived through the depression and ww2. Most of those niggas are dead or at the their youngest would be in their mid 90s.

Men like Trump don't go fight in wars, that's what middle class and poor Blacks and Whites go do.

The real GOP generally go to private and Ivy League schools on daddy's money and they generally own and operate a business of some type.

Those type of families don't send their pride and joy off to fight in the armed services, but I'm sure the American public especially the rural populace will continue to be sleep.

I've said something similar to this here before.

The Sessions Effect: Trump DOJ Reverses Course In Major Texas Voter ID Case

For the last six years, the Justice Department has sided with the citizens and civil rights groups fighting Texas' voter ID law, which a federal judge at one point found to be intentionally discriminatory against black and Latino voters. But its position changed Monday when the department decided to drop its claim that Republican state lawmakers enacted the law to make it harder for minorities to vote.

"This signals to voters that they will not be protected under this administration," said Danielle Lang, the deputy director of voting rights at the Campaign Legal Center, which is challenging Texas' law in court.

The reversal, on the eve of a key hearing in the case, is a clear sign of the DOJ's direction under Attorney General Jeff Sessions—a longtime advocate of voter ID laws and other voting restrictions. The department signaled its intentions last week when it joined with the state of Texas to ask the court to hold off on judging the constitutionality of the law until Republican lawmakers can modify it. The court rejected this request.

Lang told TPM that the DOJ reached out Monday morning to her and the other voting rights groups fighting the law to notify them of their new position.

On Tuesday, DOJ lawyers will appear before U.S. District Judge Nelva Gonzales Ramos and inform her that the federal government is dismissing its claim that the voter ID law was crafted with a discriminatory intent.

“There have been six years of litigation and no change in the facts,” Lang told TPM. “We have already had a nine-day trial and presented thousands of pages of documents demonstrating that the picking and choosing of what IDs count was entirely discriminatory and would fall more harshly on minority voters. So for the DOJ to come in and drop those claims just because of a change of administration is outrageous.”

Though their filing is not yet public, Department of Justice officials confirmed that they will drop their claim that the law has a discriminatory purpose but will continue to argue that the law has a discriminatory impact. The groups suing Texas over the law, including the NAACP Legal Defense Fund and the Campaign Legal Center, will continue to fight both claims despite the loss of the DOJ's support.

"We will move forward," Lang said. "None of the record evidence has changed. We fully expect to prevail."

Texas enacted the strict voter ID law in 2011, and it has been tied up in court battles ever since. Civil rights groups say the policy, which accepts gun licenses but not student IDs at the polls, discriminates against low-income and minority voters who are far less likely to possess an ID and face difficulties obtaining one. In some parts of the state, the groups argued in court, people would have to drive more than 100 miles to reach the nearest office where they could obtain and ID—a burden many cannot overcome.

The Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals blocked the state from fully enforcing the law for the 2016 presidential election—a move that preserved the voting rights of more than 16,000 Texans, according to state records. Last summer, the appeals court agreed with the challengers, which then included the Justice Department, that the law had the effect of discriminating against minority voters, but it sent the question of whether the law was intentionally discriminatory back to the district court for further review after the election. The district court will hear arguments on that question in the hearing scheduled for Tuesday, but the Justice Department will no longer be on the side of voting rights advocates.

Puzder Speaks Out About Withdrawing Nomination, Points Finger at ‘Fake News’

CKE Restaurants CEO Andy Puzder spoke out to radio host Hugh Hewitt today about withdrawing his nomination as President Trump‘s pick for Labor Secretary.

Both Puzder and Hewitt agreed that the pressure from liberals and labor groups was not about worrying that he would fail, but that he would succeed. Puzder said “the left is trying to sink as many of the president’s nominees as possible,” going on to talk about how tough it was for him to be such a big target of protest.

He told Hewitt that he and his family received threats and even had an envelope with white powder inside sent to his house at one point.

Puzder took shots at several news organizations, including The Huffington Post and Politico, for engaging in part of what he considers a storm of “fake news.”

He withdrew after indications from some Senate Republicans that they wouldn’t vote for him, after multiple controversies arose during the nomination process.
