Oh yeah that's right I was on the Gamestop app this morning and they only giving out $125 in credit for the old PS4 towards the new PS4 slim model.

After paying $145 out the door for my PS4 I just can't do it man. I was watching that conference yesterday and to me that shit was just a big fail like when Microsoft first revealed the XB1(not the Scorpio).

Their "Pro" console is barely 'better' than the standard Xbox One. Xbox will be a huge leap ahead when they release their "Pro" console next year.

It doesn't really need explaining. Sony would clearly want to be in a similar position.

That doesn't even make sense. All Sony really did with the Pro is add a new GPU and overclock the CPU. If they chose to wait a year, they could just as easily release a Pro that's more powerful probably for the same exact price. You're forgetting that both the PS4 and XB1 are basically built like PCs. It's not hard at all to upgrade them.

The two companies don't have the same goals in mind with these systems. Microsoft is basically admitting they lost this generation and releasing a new system that's almost as much of an upgrade over the X1 as the X1 was over the 360. They're also abandoning the console generation model and going to upgrade their systems similarly to what's done with PCs.

Sony isn't doing anything so extravagant or ambitious. All they are doing is putting out a system that will push the performance of the PSVR where they want it and shut up the people complaining about lack of locked 1080p/60fps games. They've got a sizeable lead already and their updated system, while inferior, will be out for a year longer. I don't think they want to be in Microsoft's position at all.

You really think they could get a whole new console out in 12 months? And you think that's a good move financially? You think that will sit well with the consumers? Some folks are already bitter about them dropping Pro already. You're probably the only person I've seen who thinks this is a good move.

If Sony knew MS were going to drop the Scorpio they would've never gone in the Pro direction. That's why they all looked really sad at the recent release party.

I don't see the point in getting a Slim if you already own a PS4. It's slim enough if you ask me.

What are you talking about? I'm saying they didn't have to drop the Pro now. We've known for some time that the Scorpio would likely be stronger than the Pro. Sony was free to have pushed the release of the Pro back a year or so to increase its power. And you're still not understanding that the Pro isn't a "new console" in the traditional sense. It is an incremental upgrade of the old console. It didn't take nearly as much development or cost to push out as going from say the PS3 to the PS4.

Again, the Pro has nothing to do with the Scorpio. It's purpose is unaffected by the presence of the Scorpio. The Scorpio announcement may have stolen their thunder and took some of the joy away from announcing it, but that's about it. Whether it's a good business move or not remains to be seen.

Nah man it was already too late for that. Do you know how long it takes to source parts to create millions of consoles? Not something you just change your mind on and push back a year.

Tbh, I'm a tell the truth I really think Microsoft won this round against Sony. Sony is looking real bad after the PS4 Pro/Slim announcements imo when you look at the features MS is offering with their slim version (which is not much more besides the Blu-ray 4k streaming).

Sony increases the price on PS+ for already shitty online service that gives out crappy games for free every month. Most of PS4's gaming library are a bunch of remastered games with a few exclusives involved (the latter is the main reason why I got a PS4). Most of the firmware updates are pointless and almost 3 years in Sony just not starting to roll out a library/content folder organizer which is something XB1 already has. Then to make matters worse you got Skyrim coming around the corner and Sony drops the news that they won't let users use or put mods in the game?

It's like Sony doesn't want to keep making any money.

The only reason I don't jump ship and sell my shit is because I done upgraded my hard drive twice & bought so many different games.

You may be right about that.

Still, I don't think Sony is as upset about this as you believe. Again, their motivation with the Pro isn't the same as Microsoft's with the Scorpio. Sony doesn't really even need the Pro at all to be honest. If they weren't dropping the PSVR, we probably wouldn't have even seen it.

Stop making shit up.

Your question was if I think they could really make a new console in 12 months and if it would be worth. That question doesn't make sense if you understand that the Pro isn't a new console in the traditional sense.

Maybe, maybe not. The XB1 has always had better features than the PS4. If that was the deciding factor, XB1 would be the one in the lead now not the PS4.

Yeah. See I think where MS screwed up started at the beginning of this gen is with the $500 price tag and the DRM shit which is what they set against themselves. They did the same shit Sony did when the PS3 came out at the start of last gen and everybody went left towards the 360 instead. Sony has just about lost me with the lack of features, the increase of PS+, the constantly remastered games, the pointless firmware updates, etc.,

When Microsoft considers knocking down the price of the XB1 slim I might possibly trade-in or sell my PS4 if they take a $100 off of it down the road (Yeah I know I'm a cheap gamer).

Ms doesn't offer anything that makes me wanna jump ship, i mean i know that scorpion is gonna be s beast of a machine but Sony will come with one soon enough, so i can wait. Unless they drop something crazy like a new age god of war or some other system seller game i can wait. But i agree Sony not happy about ms power move

So folks are saying the Pro won't even be able to output true native 4K.

Nah, it won't, though people say the technique Sony came up with is pretty clever.

Like I said, 4K isn't the purpose of the Pro. PSVR and locked 1080/60 was, but it sounds like it won't even do the latter consistently across games so I guess they still fail in that regard.
