The new PS4 slim has been confirmed to be $299 released on September 15th.

PS4 4K version is called PS4 Pro.

Every PS4 will be HDR capable through firmware download next week

PS4 Pro will be $399 released on November 10th

Im surprised they leaned so hard on the 4k and HDR. The Xbox One S already does this for $100 cheaper, and with 4K Blu Ray functionality, which the PS4 Pro does not support.

They barely mentioned PSVR even though its out in a month, and I guess Vita has just been kicked out the "family"?

They also didnt talk specs. "More than double the gpu" and "overclocked cpu" mean nothing. This was obviously on purpose as its clear now PS4 Pro will be severely underpowered compared to known Scorpio raw specs.

Anybody going to check out that Overwatch game. It seems like exactly what I've been looking for in a FPS. Unfortunately, I'll be playing Dark Souls III soon, so I don't know if I'll get this right away. Hopefully, it's put on PS+ eventually.

I heard great things about the game, but I'm waiting on the new Quake game.

It looks the Scorpio will be the stronger machine in 2018 or whenever it decides to drop.

And yet I still have no interest in it or even a One S. Will likely get a Pro though. If it makes my games 1080p thats something I can use this very moment.

I don't really see how Sony fucked up. I don't think it's a win for them, but they already have a sizeable lead and this will be out for like a year with no console competition.

I have no interest in it other than what it can do for VR. If they come out with good trade-in deal like 50% off of a Pro with a PS4 trade, I might get one. Other than that, nah.

Their "Pro" console is barely 'better' than the standard Xbox One. Xbox will be a huge leap ahead when they release their "Pro" console next year.

It doesn't really need explaining. Sony would clearly want to be in a similar position.

Sony couldnt have planned it this way. The executives didn't even seem excited to be talking about it.

This was probably an E3 announcement originally, but if they wouldve presented this hours after Microsoft announced the XBO S and Scorpio it wouldve looked even worse. Maybe that's why they announced that Kojima game that won't exist for 5 years, to fill the space. I can only guess they were trying to buy themselves some time to figure out a new strategy, but what was done was done.

Scorpio going to do the same thing as the Pro but better.

I might stick with the standard Ps4 for the exclusive and get the multiplats for the Scorpio
