What's interesting is that it's being said that she will be a new love interest (Poor Jane) for Thor and will be "a kind of superhero that will appear in other Marvel films as well."
Could her role possibly be Valkyrie? We'll have to wait and see when it's announced.

Natalie Portman May Not Be Returning As Jane Foster
In an interesting turn of events, it looks as though Natalie Portman will not be returning as Jane Foster in Thor: Ragnarok. During their reveal of Tessa Thompson being cast, The Hollywood Reporter reveals that Natalie Portman will not be returning to the franchise. Natalie Portman finally gets her wish of being out of the franchise. It also makes sense as it's been said that Ragnarok will mostly be set in space and on Asgard.
Without Jane being in the film does that mean we won't have Darcy either? We'll just have to wait and find out.

Tessa as Valkyrie would be a good look but shes not a thor love interest so it has to be Enchantress. Either way black excellence
Hell no. Keep white characters white and just use black characters that are underused for a change.
She'd be perfect for Monica Rambeau (the Captain Marvel in Marvel Comics that I grew up with) for example, like really perfect.
Plus that would give hope that she'd be the star of the Captain Marvel movie and not wack ass Carol Danvers.
That would also be a good look for Marvel Studios and differentiate it enough from say Wonder Woman by having the first urban black female superhero headlining any of these movies. If she's playing a Thor character it would be a real waste.

I wish more MCU directors adopted that philosophy.

I don't. They are building up a cinematic universe. How else would it be a cinematic universe if it's not connected? That said, I would agree that they need to be more subtle about it than they were in AoU. But for the most part, I don't see where them throwing ties here and there in the movies has hurt anything. The good movies were good with those ties and that bad movies would still have been bad without them.

It works in the comic books. It's all one universe but Hulk, X-Men, Fantastic Four, Daredevil, The Avengers, The Punisher, Ghost Rider and Spidey all got a chance to live and breathe within their own little corner of the Marvel Universe without having to have the rest of the heroes pop in during every arc. It's like every 5th story or so were you would see them mingling.
They definitely need more balance it's kinda why I don't watch their movies. Civil War actually demands that cause of the context but no need for every screen story to have cameos and guest stars. Sometimes these characters could figure it out for themselves if the intent of the writer is to get them there.

That's 5 out of 13 movies. For a connected continuity of movies, that ain't bad.
