Of course we know that flat top Russian owned majority

Tidal chief investment officer Vania Schlogel explains to the WSJ’s Lee Hawkins that, contrary to public perception, Tidal is not owned only by Jay-Z, but by a consortium of more than a dozen major artists.

Mr 0.5% again...so when this shit dies its gona be "well he didn't really lose 56 mill"

Beats will crush the buildings soon

Haha at people being butt hurt because he messed up the launch by making it artist instead of consumer centric.

Apple coming out soon and we'll see what "marketing dollars" [50 Cents voice] can get you.

It's way to early to call TiDal a flop though, he can always change course

Apple could drop beats the same exact way and I could promise you that you won't hear the same uproar..... Leis not act like the outcry would be the same.....beats finna be $10 and the only free thing you gonna get is radio stations DJ'ed by Drake and I can promise you niggas won't make a peep about it....

To be honest, shits too expensive for me, even the $9.99 option, I can't see myself spending $120 a year. On Apple, Spotify - I don't think it's a coincidence, When there's subjectivity, there will be bias.

This zombie like following is stupid, people should think critically. The market is big enough for multiple players, I'm interested to see how they grow the subscriber base

no any viral campaign like tidal would be easily ripped to pieces as tidal did. This Tidal presser was like Kony 2012 remember we pretended to care about that shit lmaoo?

Jay had so many levels to shock and awe with that shit. A teal out of every big music twitter account, the announcement of the presser made it seem like it could have been anything. Then you had some of the biggest acts in music. Not 2 or 3 famous people like Apple will have or sony will have at an E3. They had a dozen top tier artists. Google apple whoever would have made headlines if they did this shit.

I give Jayz and Tidal credit for getting all those acts at one place for one day (the grammys cant even do that someone is always on tour or protesting). But as big as the diplomatic move was the action and content and meat behind the press conference was weak as fuck.

And tech heads be critical as fuck about video game and apple press conferences. I have seen cats ether the shit out a PS3 or Nintendo press conference. Sheeeit i remember the Wii was breaking records and came thru to an E3 and didn't have many new games and they got crumbled. This not Jay starting shit this was nintendo back when the Wii was outselling every console. Jay ain't the only person that has been critiqued or smeared. And part of the reason he was smeared is cause he fucked up the presser point black he talks about facts only and tidal had limited facts and reasons to switch despite the hoopla.

One more thing...

To think that anyone would invest 56 million dollars without a long term plan is complete idiocy. You don't get that kind of money being a dumbass and you don't spend that kind of money like a dumbass. (Insert Phil Jackson/Knicks joke here)

The long term plan is a cash grab...look how he owned 0.5% of the nets but made it seem like he owned 50%...n sold it

He had to sell after opening up his sports agency ...cant be both

Why did anyone think he owned 50%? Do you think spike lee owns the Knicks because he sits court side and wears big ass Jeremy Lin jerseys?

-Bcuz he brought up owning the nets all the time

Bruh to be honest the only person I've seen keep bringing up the presser is you....I've yet to see anybody say "I'm not signing up for tidal becuz of the press conference"....it might be something that ppl joke about but nobody has made it a reason not to sign up....ppl might not like what it stands for as far as artist getting paid more but ain't no ribbon or bow you can tie around that to make ppl except Jay z and Beyonce making more money if they have a problem with it.....

If the press conference went perfect ppl would find another problem and another problem and another problem we can all come up with as many " what if he did it like this" scenarios as we want but at the end of the day once ppl would hear big name artist are making more money then it would turn them off no matter what ESPECIALLY if jay is at the head of it.... That's just a fact

Aother reminder of how this 40+ page historic thread could be so simple:

Apple has 1 fuking new gidget per version, EVERY year, bc they've somehow convinced people they are bringing them so much as consumers. Consumer- based marketing

Meanwhile Tidal is in a clusterfuck and could possibly never recover bc it aimed at the wrong target

Do nggas not realize they have entire college curricula on this very topic. Billion dollar corporations exist to make these seemingly simple decisions. Simple common sense marketing. Thats what this all boils down to, not race, not slavery lol

Jay z has created any number of businesses and profited. What makes this different? Bc the midas kid made a bad move for once and caught a brick. All the smear campaigns that folowed was comon sense. 'Up, u wont be needing that, lemme use your idea as you go out on the way down'

People thinking its about jay z, where were these people when under Steve Jobs Apple was QUICK to buy out any wiff of competition. Same as Facebook, they've bought a bunch of companies who could harm their botom line. This is a businesses school case study, simple

Shit like this is what's wrong with this thread in the first place... The company was going downhill before Jay bought it... Yet Despite the bad press, it's got more subscribers than it ever had in previous years... Where is the clusterfuck again?? some dislikes on YouTube??? And I thought the hi-fi part target was people who wanted the best possible sounding music streaming service.. I doubt thats a big crowd in the first place.. U the cat that kept saying for 20 pages he doesn't understand why people stream in the first place so obviously tidal wouldn't be for u.. But it is for someone.. Just like the other streaming services are for someone.. Just like cds were for someone.. But I'm sure there are some old ass niggas still talking bout how he just dont understand why someone would want digital music when he got everything he needs on his cassette tapes

How many of those new sub's were 30 day free trials? Riiight

While he does have a streaming agreement with Universal and, according to industry sources, a new one with Warner, Sony is not happy with the deals being brokered so far.

What this means is that Sony could pull their entire catalog from the Tidal service which would be a major embarrassment for Jay-Z as his wife, Beyonce, would see her music removed from her husband’s service. It would also mean the removal of the catalogs of Usher, Alicia Keys, Daft Punk, Jack White, Calvin Harris and J.Cole, all among the fifteen “partners” in the service.

Bottom line, seven of the fifteen partners in Tidal would have their music removed.

Tidal reportedly has less than a million subscribers and industry sources speculate that many of those are just in the free try-out stage and won’t convert to paying customers. Earlier today, Business Insider reported that the company is actively seeking another streaming partner, such as Rdio or Deezer, to bring more subscribers into the fold.

Where was this outrage when Beats Music launched? Even though he doesn't own the majority Dr Dre is the public face of that company. This is all because people don't want to support jay z.

I seriously don't recall this much coverage when Spotify launched?....was it really cuz they "got it right" from the jump their launch/press conference?

The shit is comical cuz it obvious people whether they want to admit it or not want to see this fail....from the outragously high expectations they've already placed on Jay-z...he's gassed y'all for years to the point where either you've bought in and really think he's God or you're tired of his bullshit and wanna see him catch a brick for once

Record companies already beat up Pandora with their lawsuit. Spotify obviously did something right with them, but before the noise about Tidal, record companies and artist were focusing on killing the free Spotify service. The complaints about Spotify regarding artist compensation is what led to Jay-Z creating Tidal in the first place. The issue was, people didn't see the difference from the consumer standpoint and saw the $20 price tag and unnecessarily juxtaposed it with the $10 price tag. Maybe it wouldn't have been as harsh if he only charged $5 more for Premium since flac can't be as hard to stream as video.

Actually i remember the Pandora vs Spotify war where people were choosing their camp. It just wasn't as much fanfare because celebrities weren't involved. Apple has always ran a cruel business tactic. Look at their war against Samsung and Microsoft. Those boys are dirty over there. The reason why Tidal was targeted so viciously is because they were signing exclusivity deals and having artist remove their music from Spotify. Apple saw those tactics as a more direct threat to their plans then what Spotify or Pandora is doing. They can take those two out with less effort or let them eat, but taking away music rights is something Apple reacts to harshly which is why they played dirty. The public just doesn't give as much of a fuck and will go with whomever offers more value at the end of the day. But celebrity and gossip sparks interest regardless of the end results. The fact that Tidal is seen as such a major threat should be proof that they have potential to disrupt the industry.

Dont give 2 shits! CLEARLY thats the lesson learned here. Why the FUK would that be the consumer's concern???? Its a curve the small pocket of you have yet to turn

@ bolded Yes, it would. Thats basic psychology

If i show you a avg lookin broad but preface it low key, you'll appreciate her. If i tell you she a dime you gon poke holes in all her shit

Thats whats happening here, thats what EVERYBODY outside of the bubble of this clusterfuck of a thread sees. Now what you SAME 4, 5 NGGAS are forcing yourself to see? I cant speak on and on want no parts of it

Haha at people being butt hurt because he messed up the launch by making it artist instead of consumer centric.

Apple coming out soon and we'll see what "marketing dollars" [50 Cents voice] can get you.

It's way to early to call TiDal a flop though, he can always change course

I seriously don't recall this much coverage when Spotify launched?....was it really cuz they "got it right" from the jump their launch/press conference?

Where was this outrage when Beats Music launched? Even though he doesn't own the majority Dr Dre is the public face of that company. This is all because people don't want to support jay z.

1) Nga what press conference? When did it drop? I dont remember, and that's my point exactly.

2) People underestimate the fickle nature and childlike mind of the American consumer

Think about Superbowl Ads. Companies pay milions for a 30 second spot to make people laugh, and in turn people will then go buy those products

Think of how DUMB that is! Lmao That is the avg American consumer. These are the people deciding whether you win or lose

3) So we gon act like half the world aint hate Lebron just because of a) The Decision, ,and,b) The preaa conference. Not 1, not 2, not 3...How many people have you heard say 'its not that he left, ts HOOOOOOW he left.

Despite that,,its a,completely wild, and foreign concept to you that first perception matters?? Huh. Yea ok

I understand, but my point is, a more objective and correct business reference is not 'people want him to fail'. Thats childish, subjective, and basically incorrect since he has dozens of successful ventures despite being black and a rapper

A more accurate assessment is people were introduced to Tidal in such a way they aint fukin with it. PERIOD.

This is DISCRETIONARY income. A luxury item. Dont nobody HAVE to see their vision smh lls Nggas is delusional
