But with Tidal now taking on the biggest streaming service, Spotify (which boasts 60 million users), by releasing "exclusive" content for $20 a month (twice the price of Spotify) it seems competition isn't yet benefitting the consumer. Although Tidal boasts "lossless" audio quality (i.e. CD quality) most users cannot tell the difference between a song played at 320kbps and 1400kbps without high-end hardware.

No matter how you try to hold back content, someone somewhere will rip it off and put it on the web for free.

All these streaming services and I've never heard ONE complaint until this tidal came together.....now tell if this makes sense...I won't give my $10 to tidal becuz the exclusive content is just gonna get ripped and put online anyways so ima give my $10 to Spotify and go online and find the exclusive things??? If tidal is useless then wouldn't that make Spotify even more useless??? And Google play even more useless??? And beats music even more useless??? Tell me the benefits in those other services and if there is no benefit in those other services then why hasn't there been this upcry b4??? Y'all better off just saying we don't like it becuz all these big artist are apart of it we'd rather it be some whites in a suit behind this service and be done with it

I don't pay anything to listen to spotify on my computer. Same with grooveshark from time to time. In my whip i listen to music stored on my usb or my i phone.

NaW bruh!! Its lostless!! Jay z is dointhis for the culture!

the essence of music is back the artist create music for fans n were just creators evolving(Jay z voice)

See he says stupid shit like this n stans defend it lol

and that is my issue i am a huge jay z fan. but i don't buy the bullshit coming from his mouth via tidal. 20 minute press conference and most of it was millionaire artists signing a paper and a radiohead song being played.

Lol I think y'all are taking it too serious idk

To me it's just another music streaming service that has some different perks than other services and has the option to stream lossless audio. Just happens to be run by the artists.

Basically.... It seems some ppl issues are more about who's behind the service rather then the service itself.... Ppl keep asking what benefit is in it for the customers...its a music streaming service meant to stream music what the hell benefit are you looking for??? It gives you more exclusive content over the other services and higher quality over the other services what else do you want a record deal.... The even funnier thing is watch when Tim cook and Jimmy Iovine relaunch beats music niggas ain't gonna make a peep about it when it's the same exact thing

Not true...not from my perspective at least...and weve seen this story before...

The problem is their making stuff exclusive that was previously shared throughout multiple streaming platforms that were reasonably priced...

And once you have a resource that everybody wants the prices go up...simple economics...

The issue is the arrogance of record companies and artists...they may honestly think people will pay 50 bucks a month to stream em on apple, jay on tidal, and drake on spotify...

But they wont...just like they werent spending 15 dollars on a cd for a few songs anymore...they can just download music for free...

So im not against jay per se...but i am against the arrogance of the music industry and what theyre capable of

JAY Z'S STREAMING SERVICE TIDAL NOW WORTH CLOSE TO $250 MILLION

Congratulations are in order to Mr. Sean Carter. In today's "the rich get richer" news, a popular phone company just put money into Jay Z's music-streaming service, reportedly upping Tidal's valuation to around $250,000,000.

According to a report from the New York Post, Sprint and its parent company Softbank bought a minority stake in the business, making Tidal's value almost quadruple in less than a month. The "high fidelity music streaming" service was bought by Jay Z (the biggest shareholder) for $56 million in March and already has close to 100,000 subscribers.
http://www.vladtv.com/blog/209019/jay-zs-streaming-service-tidal-now-worth-close-to-250-million/

Quick note: this doesn't mean that the company is intrinsically worth $250 million, it simply means that an acquiring business would have to pay that at minimum to buy it. It doesn't mean the assets are worth that. Either way this is a good look.

This is why they REALLY not feeling tidal....You can already see where this is going jay finna help build it up then sell his majority stake in the company for 9 figures then once again laugh to the bank.....Business, man!

ownloads of the app have thus far not been substantial; it has not charted highly on mobile download stores. Still, while Schlogel declines to give out subscriber numbers, she says “We’re definitely happy with the traction we’re seeing.

$8m?

At least that is what the math says when you gross up the $500,000 Jason Kidd is paying rapper Jay-Z for one-fifteenth of 1% of the team (the rapper’s sliver of the Barclays Center is not included). In January, we valued the Nets, who are hemorrhaging money, at $530 million. (Note: After this story ran, Nets Daily wrote that Jay-Z’s sale of his stake in the Nets also included his ownership interest in the arena company. The Nets have ignored several inquiries I have made to the team for clarification on this matter).
