Watched the "news conference" - total disappointment. Jay and Beyoncé looked horrible, not impressed with the musicians they had on stage blab, blab. Flashy NY news conference - nope, didn't happen.
The press conference was just as discombobulated at the idea. How can anyone take it seriously with Madonna clowning around and Nicki and Calvin Harris talking about audio fidelity? They're two of the worst offenders of the current state of music.
Jay-Z didn't not give one good solid answer...he's all over the place with his thoughts. I don't even think he knows what he saying, he just thinks the words sound good together

Call me cynical but I don't really see why all these big artists care. I don't buy the argument that they are all doing for the future little guy or the actual creators of the songs. And we now live in a music making culture where top stars add a word and a single sound and suddenly they are the 'writers' of a song. It seems to me that if they truly wanted song writers to get credit - most of their songs wouldn't have their names anywhere near the writing credits.
If they are truly trying to even the playing field - good for them - but let's be frank - these people would only do this is they thought there was money to be made. MORE money to be made.

All music ever made is already available for free in its best quality - anytime, anyplace. Spotify formula saved the music industry, most notably in Sweden and other Scandinavian countries. Tidal is giving piracy a second chance.
