The Official Jay-Z's "Tidal" Streaming Service Thread (New Stand Up Comedy Series Added)
I like the fact that artists care coming together to take more control of their creative content, but the fact that the brands main point of differentiation is the lossless audio feature is troubling. It'll catch a wave at first just because of the heavy promo and the major artists involved, but then once that settles that price point is going to come into play.
One way I can see this really catching on permanently though if they go for a high level of exclusive content on the site. Obviously the artists involved will switch their streaming allegiance, but I think they gonna have to go for a high level of exclusive content on the site, and I 'm not talking about just an album here or there. I don't know how the logistics would work out label wise, but maybe if they could make their releases available exclusively on the site like a week early or maybe make the bonus tracks from their deluxe album exclusive to the site then this could really take off. Maybe over time they could expand to content outside of music like making music videos, behind the scenes and things like that exclusive as well.

If the can watch streaming videos (HD to some degree) on Youtube, they should be able to support lossless. It's not sending the entire track at once. It will eat up bandwidth for mobile contracts.
People already spend top dollar on beats. Maybe it will coax them to spend the same money on headphones that have a better range, or maybe beats are better then people give them credit for. Polk and Klipsch makes great entry speakers.

It's basically the difference between people buying 4k and sticking with 1080p. Enough will notice to generate income if the service offers enough content. Limited exclusivity releases helps too.
