why would Nikki b afraid 2 do summer jam?? when she perform @ the Grammys, NBA all star game, and the super bowl with Madonna????

because those were mainstream crowds. nicki has been catching heat in NY for those comments she made during a charlemagne interview where she basically said fuck NY hip hop fans. that crowd at summer jam was mostly NY hip hop fans. why do you think she was gonna have all those NY rap legends on stage with her? this would have been her chance to get her hometown love back. which is why i don't understand why she and wayne would let some dj's comments make her not perform. she could have sonned rosenberg and hot 97 by performing and getting the crowd and the city on her side.

1) summer jam is a hip hop concert. featuring hip hop artists. yes they're mainstream hip hop artists for the most part on the main stage but its not like they have katy perry, lmfao, and justin beiber. it appeals to rap fans.

2) NY fans showed love to Nicki before she signed with YM. she got attention because of the come-up dvds. they were real big in the streets. she had a nice buzz in the city. the industry at the time was based in the south so in order to go to the next level she had to go down south. it wasn't because NY didn't support her. after she blew up she didn't really rep NY anymore like other NY rappers. you didn't see her trying to put other NY rappers on. you didn't see her shouting out the city that much. i'm not saying she had to, but that's part of the reason NY wasn't riding for her anymore. not to mention the turn toward pop music and away from the sound that got her signed in the first place.

for the record: check the first 4 minutes of the vid. she admits she came up on the NY underground scene (which means she had to be getting love from the city) and then says "fuck you niggas!" when asked about NY not showing her love. Sounds pretty blatant...

Yesterday, Lil Wayne sent out a tweet half an hour after Hot 97‘s Summer Jam 2012 had begun at the Met Life Stadium in New Jersey saying that his Young Money crew will not be performing at the show.

“Young Money ain’t doing summer jam.”

The reason behind Weezy cancelling Young Mula‘s set at the concert was because one of Hot 97‘s radio personalities, Peter Rosenberg, called Nicki Minaj‘s “Starships” song wack and not real hip-hop at the start of the show.

“Now hold on, before I get to the real hip-hop shit of the day, cause I see the real hip-hop heads sprinkled in here, I see ‘em. I know there are some chicks waiting to see ‘Starships’ later, I’m not talking to y’all right now. Fuck that bullshit, I’m here to talk about real hip-hop shit.”

My personal opinion is that Tune was right to pull his YM artists from performing at the show. If Nicki was the headliner (meaning most people bought tickets to see her) and the Hot 97 DJ’s are calling her tracks wack, then she and Tunechi have every right to feel disrespected and not perform.

Minaj tweeted that she was going to bring out Lil Wayne, Birdman, Tyga, Gudda Gudda, Jae Millz, Foxy Brown, Beenie Man, Nas, 2 Chainz, Cam’ron and Lauryn Hill during her set too, which would of been crazy for both the audience and even Hot 97 themselves. So basically they f’d up!

Jae Millz also went on Twitter and sent out a tweet directed to Peter Rosenberg:

“Radio personality with NO personality… fuck nigga!!! & u ain’t even black… But u still a FUCK NIGGA!!”

LOL @ all the coppin pleas for Young Money. Nicki got caught in a Lie Again. Lauryn Came out as someone posted and said that she was NOT performing with Nicki but only with NaS while Nicki tweeted that Lauryn was apart of her show. Look they caught feelings and left the fans hanging. Rosenberg and his morning show isn't even the highest rated show on Hot 97, Flex and Angie is. Also Rosenberg did not book Nicki and he didn't sign any checks either.

Again there feelings got hurt and now they realize they did the fans dirty. Thankfully Legends like NaS and L-boggie cleaned up the mess and the show ended up better. But for all Nicki's fans that paid that money to see her, don't blame it on Rosenberg, blame it on Nicki cause that's what she feels about ya'll.
