Summer Jam is the biggest hip hop concert of the year. They would have sold tickets whether Nicki was the headliner or not. In fact, Nicki hasnt gotta a lot of love in NY lately, especially since that interview where she basically said fuck NY hip hop. This was her chance to earn respect back from her hometown, but she supposedly let a dj run her off stage (I think theres more to the story). Rosenberg has been dissing Nicki on the air for months. She knew how he felt before she agreed to do the show, but yet she still signed on to do it. So because he made the same comments to a pre-show crowd about 6 hours before nicki's set that only about 5,000 people heard, YMCMB felt they needed to hurt their fans(not hot 97) and 60,000 paying concert goers by refusing to perform. If this was Jay, Nas, Em, Ross or any other headlining rappers response to a dj's comments there's no way anyone would be defending them. It wouldn't have even gone down like that cause they would have still performed and dissed Rosenberg right on stage. Even if you feel Rosenberg was wrong for taking shots at the event, the way Wayne & Nicki handled it was petty and weak.

Jay and Nas have both boycotted Hot97 at some point in their careers

They boycotted the event for industry political reasons. But they didn't agree to do the show, help sell tickets, tell their fans to show up, and then hours before they were suppose to perform drop out cause they got their feelings hurt. It's not the same.

No disrespect to Nicki, but I need to clear up an inaccuracy. I was not scheduled to be a special guest on her set at Summer Jam, I was invited by Nas to perform with him. I don’t have details on exactly what transpired between the station and the artists, but I do support artists standing by their beliefs, and walking with integrity. We have to find a better way to commercially exploit music, while giving artists their proper respect. This cannot be done while taking their contributions for granted, or trying to control the scope of their growth and power through threats and fear tactics. We can do better than this, there is a better way, or else ‘we’ (the proverbial we) find ourselves in danger of being hypocrites!!!

I'm fiercely anti-pop when it comes to HipHop and HipHop culture but I'm not going to act like Nicki ain't got some HipHop songs in her catalog to perform. I'm not going to act like "Beez in the trap" and "A$$" ain't going to get the house rocking and the heads nodding in a got-damn Summer-Jam setting.

I wanted to see her breasts & buttocks and I was denied that by a damn Jew.

Nicki needed that onstage Summer-Jam co-sign from Lauryn Hill to solidify her legacy, she needed to bring out Camron & Nas so NY could see her like Nicki from New York instead of Nicki from the Netherlands.

Were is the military tactishionship? Why is Wayne waging battles on multiple fronts when he and his artists are suffering severe backlash from the public?

A wiser general would have recruited soldiers within the YMCMB ranks that have the street-base to balance out the sugary-pop image they have that's drawing so much wrath from the HipHop elite.

1st off , summer jam is a concert for mainstream radio.

2nd, nikki never said fuck newyork, she said NewYork never put her on, which is true... she had to go down south to blow, when she was on her lyrical shit, NY neva fucked with her.
