He also went on a mission to revive his friend's father.
There is a differenc between hero and superhero. Goku isn't a superhero. He's not a crime fighter.

It's not that Goku isn't a good guy that will do decent things when given the chance. If people ask him for help, he'll help. What Toriyama is getting at is that Goku's motivation isn't heroic because he's more drawn to conflict because of his lust for fighting than for any good he may accomplish.
His fight with Vegeta is a good example. When Vegeta threatened to destroy the planet, Goku was genuinely alarmed and he was willing to sacrifice everything to save the world. But moments later when Krillin had the chance to kill Vegeta, Goku stopped him. He didn't for any noble reason. He did it because he wanted to fight Vegeta again even if it meant putting the world in danger again. That's not heroic, but it is a defining characteristic of Goku.

I agree. Goku shoulda let him live just off the fact he was the last saiyan besides himself. He already had a hand in the other two dying

Narrative should shift to Vegeta and other side chars IMO.. they're more interesting than Goku at this point.
Vegeta done had the most character development than anyone else in the series far as i can tell.
