Well, actually, if you will recall, Kril was on the path 10 years before Goku. Hes still his senior.
AND, they run Destructo Disk formation, Krillen is the finisher.
In other words, the form and Krillians level means he can pull a Destructo Disk at any time, based on the strenght of the opponet, DUE to said formation.
Its why Chaosu sacrificed himself to Nappa.
To run the formation.
This was mentioned by Freeza when he was having difficulty with his transformations and had to kill Krillen, when enabled Goku to go SS.
Because of Krillen.
Goku doesnt even have a master technique.

Second, he found the dragon balls every time and was the only possessor of the passcode, becuase neither sayan or namekn xould do so without the defeater of Zao.
Third he was shown beating a ssj accomplished goku at the end of dbz in a sparring match.
Fourth, he saved gphan from freeza.
