Arum: Pacquiao-Bradley 3 Will Probably Do 700,000 PPV Buys

By Edward Chaykovsky

According to Top Rank's CEO Bob Arum, about two thousand tickets remain available for the April 9 HBO Pay-Per-View at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas - which features a trilogy showdown between former champions Manny Pacquiao and Timothy Bradley.

The first two fights were also held at the MGM Grand. The first bout, which took place in 2012, generated about 890,000 buys. The rematch in April 2014 brought in between 750 to 800,000 buys.

Bradley won the first meeting with a controversial twelve round split decision. Pacquiao got revenge with a twelve round unanimous decision in the rematch.

Arum's company has been promoting every angle - except he most obvious. Pacquiao claims the upcoming bout will be the final ring outing of his pro career. Arum refuses to market the PPV with that back story - in the event Pacquiao changes his mind and returns in the fall.

The veteran promoter, who recently celebrated 50 years in the business, put together an undercard which is geared to the Hispanic audience. He calls it the 'No-Trump' Undercard - which is a jab at presidential candidate Donald Trump, who wants to deport Mexican illegals.

"Tickets have been doing well. It's been even better than the second time they fought. But there are still two thousand tickets. If you do not sell, then we'll have 14 thousand fans anyway in the arena. But we are optimistic that we can sell them all,"Arum said.

"With the pay per view, I think we can reach 700,000 buys. Bradley and Pacquiao have already done those numbers before. But the Hispanic community is[behind this show]. Maybe if Donald Trump opens his mouth it will do a little more, maybe 800,000."

Whatever the number, it won't anywhere near the last fight PPV involving Pacquiao - which came against Floyd Mayweather Jr. in May 2015. The fight generated a record shattering 4.6 million buys.

Tyson Fury vs. Anthony Joshua Erupts With Heated War of Words

Anthony Joshua has offered Tyson Fury a ringside seat for his heavyweight title fight against Charles Martin in a Twitter exchange.

Joshua welcomes Martin to The O2 on Saturday, live on Sky Sports Box Office, aiming to win the IBF title that Fury previously took from Wladimir Klitschko in November.

The 26-year-old from Watford earlier accused Fury of "hating" on his body after the WBO and WBA champion dismissed him as a "bodybuilder". The ongoing row between the unbeaten Brits took to social media on Tuesday.

"I got you and a plus-one ringside ticket so you can come and give me this same treatment on Saturday #Hater," Joshua tweeted alongside a picture of Fury congratulating Martin on his most recent win in January.

Fury had previously sparked the argument by mocking the idea that he was jealous of "a weightlifter who is fighting for a paper title".

Joshua tweeted back: "Keep on praying for my downfall fat boy. I'll see you soon. One Fury at a time."

Fury replied: "I hope you win, as you will make me a lot of money, for an easy fight #liketakingcandyfromababy.

"When Mr. Muscles gets busted on Saturday night, I'll be crying and I'll say another one bites the dust, there goes another hyped up #bumcity."

Espinoza hopes Anthony Joshua can become SHO's new Tyson

By Corey Erdman

Both Anthony Joshua and his promoter Eddie Hearn have spent the early parts of fight week making Mike Tyson comparisons.

Joshua has suggested that his performance against Charles Martin on Saturday in their IBF heavyweight title bout will be reminiscent of Iron Mike's thrashing of Trevor Berbick. Hearn went so far as to say Joshua was the closest thing he'd seen to Tyson offensively since the Hall of Famer hung 'em up.

Showtime executive Stephen Espinoza, meanwhile, hopes Joshua will be like Tyson in another way. For years, Tyson was the flag-bearer for Showtime, with the vast majority of his big box-office events airing on the network.

recent years, Showtime has shifted their focus to lighter weight classes, with the heavyweight title held by Wladimir Klitschko for the better part of the decade, and fighting on rival HBO.

But now, times have changed. There's a new champion in Tyson Fury, and a whole new crop of exciting challengers chasing the lineal crown.

“A new era of heavyweight boxing has emerged,” said Espinoza. “We're very proud to be hosting the US TV debut of Anthony Joshua, so people over here can see what the excitement is all about.”

Hearing Espinoza speak, it's clear that he believes Joshua is indeed the real deal. The 2012 Olympic gold medalist has been lauded as everything from the sport's hottest prospect, to the most promising heavyweight of the past decade. That buzz has translated into bucks, with his last two fights at the 02 Arena selling out in just six hours and 70 seconds total. On the screen, his grudge match with Dillian Whyte drew over 400,000 PPV buyers, according to several reports.

“We'd like to be his TV home for the remainder of his career. And that's for two reasons, one, because he's obviously a very skilled and entertaining fighter. But two, there is a wealth of good fights that can be made. That's really the recipe for the TV programmers dream, is not just to have charismatic skilled fighters but actually have a wealth of opponents,” said Espinoza.

Though he has a stern test in Charles Martin ahead of him this weekend, it's fun to dream about the possible matchups down the road if Joshua leaves the arena with the IBF strap.

“There are a number of them, whether it's here in the US with Deontay (Wilder), or other UK fighters, (Tyson) Fury or David Haye. There's really fertile ground in the heavyweight division,” he said.

As jaded as fans of the division understandably may be after years of disappointing matchups, even hearing those names come out of the mouth of a television executive at the same time has to be refreshing.

Am I the only one who completely forgot about the upcoming Pacquiao vs Bradley 3 fight?

I can see why but im looking forward to it and they put together a decent undercard.

What's the undercard again??

I got 20 on Tim for anyone that's trying to bet. Haha

Gilberto Ramirez vs Athur Abraham. Arum wants to push this Ramirez kid. Hes decent but nothing too great. But Abraham is a big step up.

Then Oscar Valdez hes pretty good prospect.

And some other prospect supposed to fight too.

Not big names but there should be some good action.

Yep, seems like the boxing sphere is getting excited about Anthony Joshua!

Wouldn´t go as far as comparing him to Iron Mike, Mike was the youngest world heavyweight champ in history, Aj is 26, so that ship has sailed...still he can come to dominate the division, he just needs to geared in the right direction, beat Martin, make a like 3-5 title defenses, continue to build the hype of a fight against Fury, fight a few journey man and get some real experience in the ring, because Fury is crafty and real intelligent in the ring, he´s only a year older than Aj, but has way more experience than he does, so I wouldn´t throw Aj in with him or Wilder yet, would like to see Aj take on the cuban Luis Ortiz tho, that would be interesting...

What do yall think, of a possible fight say between Luis Ortiz vs Anthony Joshua?

He won't fight 3-5 more times before fighting Fury. It think 2 at the most. They're gonna move him fast as long as he's winning

Hearn said he not gonna rule out Fury vs Joshua for the summer

Joshua loses that fight, they can make much more money in the future, and he still has the rematch with Wlad, so I doubt a fight that soon, can even be made...will see tho

I didn't say I didn't believe him. I'm saying I don't see why he is guaranteed that much considering the numbers I anticipate the fight doing. It sounds good, but that article don't convince me. All Floyd fight night checks are for the amount he is guaranteed.

You niggas acting like we not talking about scammer bob here. He been fucking Pacquiao over for years.
