MALIGNAGGI VS. MOSLEY POSSIBLE IN APRIL

By Ben Thompson | December 12, 2012

Sources close to the information have informed us that there's more than a strong possibility that WBA welterweight champion Paulie Malignaggi will defend his title in April against three-division world champion and future Hall of Famer "Sugar" Shane Mosley. According to Malignaggi himself, he's already been promised a date for either April 20 or April 27. In fact, our sources tell us that Mosley has already been presented to Malignaggi as a potential opponent for a bout that could headline another Barclays Center card.

It was just last week when FightHype revealed that Mosley was planning on announcing his return to boxing. Mosley had previously announced his retirement shortly after his unanimous decision loss to undefeated WBC jr. middleweight Saul Alvarez this past May. Since that time, he's stayed in the gym, primarily working with his son, Shane Mosley Jr., and his amateur career. Evidently, after witnessing the latest performance of Malignaggi, who survived a late knockdown to score a razor-thin split decision victory over Pablo Cesar Cano, an unimpressed Mosley was inspired to take another crack at a world title.

STAY TUNED AS THIS STORY DEVELOPS

before we start talking about this weekend, am i the only one that missed the special episode of "friday night fights"??

raymundo beltran fought ji-hoon kim (barely ever heard of him), was that shit any good, is it worth watching?!?

It was decent, nothing special about it. ji-hoon kim dropped Beltran in the 1st round but Beltran got up and dropped him. From there, it was total domination by Beltran

good job, dude is working his way up...

and who in this world is interested in malinaggi vs mosley?!??!?

Another fight being talked about would pit welterweight slugger (and former junior welterweight titlist) Marcos Maidana against prospect Keith Thurman. They were supposed to fight on a Broner undercard in July, but Maidana and his team decided against it. Now the talks have been renewed. Thurman has won two fights in a row on HBO, but if he faces Maidana, he would be fighting the best opponent of his career.

No, no, no, Keith thurman is too damn big for Maidana... Why they tryna do him like that? Maidana need to stay at 140 and fight Danny Garcia types.

Ready to see if Virgil Hunter has taught Khan how to protect that fragile ass chin of his.

Looks like they've been working on defense. Khan is still a young dude, so he needs to learn as much as possible before he goes over the hill.

Yeah a lot of folks don't understand that at a certain age/point u just are what I are as a fighter. For example Manny leaving Roach at this point is useless b/c he is who he is. We saw it w/ Hatton & Floyd Sr as well. Khan isn't to set in his ways yet.

I think I can learn to like dude now that he's been humbled & realizes that he needs to get some accolades before he pop shit LOL.

Exactly. Amir Khan is O.K. He was just with an overhyped camp when he was with Freddie Roach an 'em. Now that Freddie Roach has been exposed this year, Khan is rebuilding. I don't blame him. Freddie Roach is trash as a trainer.
