"Give It To Me" and "Squeeze First" got Big credit in the liner notes of Dynasty because Jay used a whole bar of Big's and made a hook in those songs. That's the biggest reference Jay has ever used from Biggie, everything else were just Biggie one liners, not enough to call it biting, but just enough to know who he's referencing. It takes a certain amount of wording to have to give credit and he had to give Biggie's estate credit for saying

"When the Remy's in the system/

Ain't no tellin' when I fuck 'em

Then I diss 'em/

That's what they be yellin',

I'm a pimp by blood/

Not relation/

Y'all be chase-un/

I replace them, uhh"

You have to get credit for that amount of reference in a song. Everything else Jay has used was a one liner like

"It's hard to yell when the bar-rel's in ya mouth"

"Ya reign on top was shorter than leprechauns"

"Squeeze first ask questions last, that's how most of these so called gangstas pass" (It was used for a hook on "Squeeze First")

"Ain't no other kings of this rap thing, ya kidding?"

"'Cuz I see some ladies tonight that should be rollin' with Jay-Z, Jay-Z"

"Isn't this great, her flight leaves at 8, my flight lands at 9, my game just rewinds"

And ETC. y'all get the point. These little references are not biting and are wayyyy to scarce for someone to give credit

He's big enough to do it, he's that thorough, PLUS HE KNOWS HIS OWN FLOW IS FOOLISH!

Jay-Z KNOWS that y'all know what he's doing, so what does that tell you? He don't give a fuck about you because you broke as hell and he's the shit and can do what he wants, he doesn't try to hide it so how's it biting? You'd have to add EVERY rapper to that equation then, u cannot single one rapper out, I can't think of any rappers that's never used another rappers lines.

There is no excuse why Biggie did not get credit for "Bring Em Out" when the sample was from his verse that he was the writer of. There is no way around that. Jay Z caked off Big's Lyrics, it was a Platinum single.

It wasn't about that its about people on here wanna say its so wrong until they found out their favorite rapper is doin it. You are right Jay-Z does do it a lot, but how much does this affect his legacy. Which one is major his rap sheet of 11 number #1 albums, 3 or 4 debatable albums, sellin out ROCK festivals overseas, etc. or the lines he's quoted from rappers????

Nas said "You ain't even in mi classa"- Big Pun

Wrong NaS said and Key word: "LIKE PUN SAID - You ain't even in mi classa"

That's paying homage, he didn't outright take the lyrics.

No thats not true, for me anyways.

As i said, i like jay z. I think hes talented, i enjoy most of his cd's. But im not some jigga warrior stan that will defend him to the end no matter what he does. I dont agree with the fact that he borrowed 100+ bars, it doesnt take anything away from his original stuff your right, but its still a wack thing to do.

But do you feel the same way about other rappers who do the same thing (Nas,Snoop,Wayne,Fat Joe,TI,etc), or is it only a Jay-z thing? I feel people reach for the stupidest shit to try to discredit dude, when it really doesn't even affect people's opinion of him in the real world.

Well, I gave you a list of rappers to point out this severe flaw in and I have gotten no response. So, this argument that every rapper does is, bullshit and is a simple diversion tactic by people like you. And in my book Jayz was always cornball and this flaw of biting just adds to what already knew.

If anyone else borrows lines that arent well known then its wack too, jay-z by a large margin does it more then any other rapper.

Im not singling out jay-z but i keep referring to him because this thread is about him and also because he is the king when it comes to using other peoples lines

it doesnt take away from his legacy in my mind he has classic albums that cant be refuted. But on the flipside of things if your a fan of hip hop i dont see how you can let this massive ammount of biting pass just cuz other rappers do it.

its wack when ANY rapper does it...

This is the only side I am on. And it just really shows how many cornball, fly by night Hip Hop listeners are out there. Which, is the real reason why Hip Hop sucks today.

I'm not understanding how these people will put Jayz on higher plain then these other rappers but now are using these rappers to prove their point.

Jay-Z cannot be compared to other rappers, he's not like other rappers, he's on a whole other planet than niggas. There I said it, Jay-Z is so much more than "just" some rapper. He's a Hip Hop pioneer, living legend, trend setter, trailblazer, TRUE LYRICIST, all in a time when Wayne, Gucci and Waka Flocka are supposed to be the NEW HIP HOP REIGN.

'Pac couldn't do it, Big couldn't do it
Cube had it and lost it
Pun couldn't do it
Fat Joe CAN'T do (I love his music tho, lol)
Scarface is the man, but he ain't doin' it
LL had and lost it
Wu had it and lost it but still got it but really still don't

Jay-Z got it, kept it and won't let go until he's done with it. Who else been around as long as him and is still a BANKABLE artist in today's Hip Hop climate? This nigga is 40 fuckin' years old (that alone should seperate him from others) but he's 40, making mature Hip Hop for his age group (25-45, who has that age bracket locked in hip hop?) And still able to top the charts at no. 1 over Lil' Wayne, Drake, Gucci, Waka, whoever.

2Pac gave Mobb Deep a pass. He ran the Outlawz, he gave a lotta niggas love over the niggas he dissed yet, its the niggas Pac gave love to that careers is fucked up. They say if Pac was alive Jay would have no career, but you can't stop the songs Jay-Z made. Everybody Pac dissed is livin' good and all the ones he had love for are the ones fucked up. Niggas fall off everyday and how do we know Pac and Big would keep making hot shit, them niggas ain't run shit like that, they would be right there with all these other old ass crying rappers talking about these new niggas is wack. Jay-Z don't even fuck with these niggas like Gucci and whoever and he's still on top of them.

Hell yeah Jay-Z is on a pedestal, he overcame everything and he's like the hood's Obama, Jay-Z was the first Black president in my eyes, he did more for young Black men by example than Barack ever has. he showed us that we can get it even if we didn't follow the traditional, go to college, get a degree become president of something. He ran the streets, worked his ass off in them booth's and became president of Black America. See it's so much more than rap, wayyyyy Deeper Than Rap, we're talkin' about an icon.

And fuck u niggas that wanna call me a Stan, that just proves that u know i'm right and WISH I were wrong.

thank you homie thats all i wanted know. There is not a question that Jay quotes the shit out of rappers but my thing is that it doesn't fuck up his legacy. There is a lot of people that act like all his best work has been quoted. But since u hold ALL rappers to the same thing then I can respect that

Well, I will say one thing. You certainly are passionate. I wouldn't try rationalizing with a suicide bomber so, I won't attempt it here. It is a sad shame though. Jayz is cornball and average MC.

Do people still not get that these 2 were actual friends. So if anything, Jay is keeping BIGs legacy alive by quoting his lines in his songs.

Half of yall wouldnt even know BIG because yall are youngn's or you wouldve forgot about BIG if rappers didn't quote his lines.

To quote somebody is paying respect. I dont know where yall from.

I also think Eminem Bite this famous line from Biggie:

Eminem - Forgot about Dre - Slim Shady, hotter than a set of twin babies, in a mercedes benz with the window up when the temp goes up to the mid 80's, calling men ladies

Biggie - Niggas Bleed - They Shady, We get Shady, Dress up like Ladies and burn em with 33-80's and they come to kill our babies

Lil Kim - I'm drinkin Babies, then I crack for the mercedes, Act Shady and feel my 3-80.

hmmmmmm

You obviously don't get me. Your pre-school azz went straight for the bait. It was too easy. But since you picked the obvious of the 10+ MC's off of my short list. Entertain us, with 100+ bars of Nas's bitten from Biggie or any other rapper. Simpleton.
