Kobe is the team leader....he should be checking Bynum whenever he was acting immature and he shoulda checked Gasol more often for playing "soft".....Mike Brown is clearly a clown, but can coach a lil bit on defense, I thought we all knew this when he was in Cleveland.....all the Lakers really need is a reliable PG....try keep either Bynum or Gasol somehow and get a real PG and everything will fall into place so long as Kobe isnt taking 20+ shots per game again cause at his age he wont shoot over 45% again taking that many shots

Yup...all they need is a reliable pg like you said. We also need more consistent Offense from the SF position, it's way to unpredictable who will show up like Metta or Barnes or Ebanks. We also need a solid bench that shows up every game and not once in a while. Inconsistency is killing them.

The bold is the truth.

Idgaf Bynum is 24 not 16, nobodies gonna make him mature but himself.

The Lakers have officially picked up Andrew Bynum's $16.1-million option, The Times has learned.

It will be the last year remaining on the contract of the 24-year-old center, who became an All-Star this season for the first time.

The move was merely a formality. Bynum replaced four-time All-Star Pau Gasol as the Lakers' second-best player this season.

Bynum was second-team All-NBA at center while Gasol was third-team All-NBA at forward.

The Lakers had until June 30 to exercise their option on Bynum.

Bynum had some ill-conceived moments this season, including a well-documented three-point attempt in the third quarter of a close game at Golden State, but he realized much of the on-court potential that loomed above him much of his career.

He averaged 18.7 points and 11.8 rebounds this season.

The truth of the matter is the only way the Lakers can get better is if they either trade Bynum or they suck it up and amnesty Kobe.

We're looking at this season in a vacum. They were swept out of the second round last year with Phil as the coach, and with Kobe not jacking up shots. They just aren't good enough. Kobe is still one of the top 5 players in the game, expecting him to change his game 16 years just isn't realistic. Especially when Bynum has such a hard time scoring against legitimate defense( no one brings this up, even though it was obvious all season). If the Lakers a re going to build around Bynum, they nee d to actually build arund him. They need a real point gaurd who can run an offense, shooters to spread floor, and an athletic wing. They can't get those things with Kobe on the team. It would be a Pr nightmare( LA would literally riot) but it's the best for the team.

LOL, i have seriously pondered the "Amnesty Kobe" option. But the "Cons" severely outweigh the "Pros".

Kobe would be on the 1st flight to Chicago if LA were to Amnesty him....i dont think it makes any business sense to pay a player $25 million dollars to play for another team....now if he had a career-ending injury, i would understand

^^^ best case scenario, they get him to adjust that cap crippling contract. otherwise just eat it. amnestying him makes no business or basketball sense. what free agent out there can replace that kinda production?

You cant restructure contracts in the nba only the nfl

After ya'll trade gasol you wont get out the 1st round again

even marc gasol would disagree with that

Use that trade exception for a 6th man quality player, preferably a guard. Jason Terry is out there, Steve Nash is out there. If not than trade Gasol for a starter and a strong bench player.

I thought we used the trade exception for Ramon Sessions.

May or may not be something to read into

While the question of Roy possibly teaming up with Kobe Bryant remains unanswered, Sportando reveals that during the last few days, Roy was indeed – L.A. bound.

Sources close to the player confirmed, "Brandon (Roy) landed in Los Angeles on Monday and is scheduled to leave on Friday."

During his stay in L.A. it is unknown whether or not Roy met with the Lakers' coaching or medical staff, however, he is currently undergoing a series of private medical procedures on his knees. "Tuesday was the first of a series of treatment Roy's going through. He's doing something similar to the treatment Kobe Bryant had on his right knee. It can only help," added the source.

Those who've recently seen and played Roy are convinced he's a much better player then he was in the past (which is kind of scary). Recent rumors circulating around the United States are indicating that the Lakers showed interest in the Former 2007 Rookie of the Year.

That said, "Roy is positively thinking about coming back next season. We like L.A. a lot. Growing up, the Lakers were Brandon's favorite team."

The Dallas Mavericks were also mentioned as a potential destination for Roy.

Brandon Roy could be a nice add, hopefully he hollas at Kobe's knee Dr lol...but yea lets lose the dead weight on the squad...we definitely signed some bums last yr...to amnesty Kobe is crazy talk. I think we can make an attractive offer for Deron, we would lose Gasol but hey thats life

Kobe, Bynum headed back to Germany for knee procedure

Last summer, Kobe Bryant made a trip to Germany to have an experimental procedure on his knee. Then he showed up this season jumping out of the building again and everybody wanted one. Even Alex Rodriguez got the knee procedure.

This summer Kobe and Lakers center Andrew Bynum are going to the land of beer and schnitzel for another round of the procedure, Lakers trainer Gary Vitti told Lakers reporter Mike Trudell.

Gary Vitti also tells us that Kobe will go back to see Dr. Peter Wehling in Germany for Orthokine/Regenokine treatment.

Vitti on Bynum: “I’ve already spoken to the Dr. in Germany regarding Andrew going through the same procedure as Kobe did.”

Kobe will already be in Europe as part of Team USA, and Bynum goes to Germany every summer anyway.

It’s good news for the Lakers, although far from a cure all. The question is will the Lakers get the benefit of the procedure or some other team after the trade.

Naw man... That was a straight up deal. we sent them some players and a draft pick. We still have that exception.
