O i remember that shit that O Boy beat was the basis of a lot of strife within the ROC lol

Cam recorded the song and sent it to radio before Just Blaze could even mix and master it. Cam did they so Jay couldn't stop that from happening. Becasue once the song got to radio and blew up there was no turning back.

You watch these videos in 2002 and think that the ROC could never end. The memories.

It's wild seeing these. He actually looks comfortable in his skin.

Why couldn't Roc-A Fellas stayed with Priority Records instead go to Def Jam?

It's crazy because most people think that they were signed to Def Jam but they wasn't. They were independent and distributed through Def Jam. After Resonable Doubt dropped their stock went up. Irv Gotti use to DJ for Jay and became an A & R for Lyor at Def Jam and helped get them signed. It's hard to believe that at one time they couldn't give their music away. I believe if Irv didn't work at Def Jam they wouldn't have gotten that deal. It would have been interesting if they would have stayed with Priority. I wonder if there is any stories about Dame going crazy on them.

I didn't know that. I know Cam subliminally diss Jay on Let Me Know about when the fuck did New York start bouncing. Jay says in Can I Get A... bounce with me in the song.

Yeah. I wonder why they did stop fucking with Priority Records? They were independent and I wonder if they would have stayed with Priority and never signed with Def Jam and would they be successful as No Limit?

Master P made a lot of money than Jay-Z, Biggs, Damon put it together.

You're right about Irv Gotti. If he wasn't an A & R at Def Jam and he wouldn't have his own Murder INC label.

There may be some truth to your statement. Irv Gotti once said in an interview that when JaRule and Murder Inc. started blowin' up, that one day Dame came to him with a bag full of money and asked him, "How you gettin' your songs played on the radio?" Dame was there taunting Irv with the bag of money like, "Who I gotta' pay to get our records on the air?" I thought that was crazy.

Its in Decoded....they stopped fucking with Priority because it wasn't worth it.

All Priority did was give em a bullshit budget (pennies) & some in-store signings at small record stores...

Jay & Dame figured they was doing all the heavy work & promoting anyway, whats the point of having a 3rd hand in the pot

Niggas always talk about Cam erasing Hov off the "Oh Boy" song but.....they forget Hov denied Cam on the "Welcome to New York City" video.

Cam was already platinum by then....the whole East Coast was feeling that track. Cam said he went to Jay about doing a video & Jay flat out said nah LOL. Come Home with Me would've went double or triple with that.

I never heard that. I could see him doing that. Ja was getting on the radio because he was singing on records. Before Drake and all of them started it. He was appealing to woman more.

This is very true. It could've help Juelz career more. Cam was trying to promote Juelz which is why he was putting him on Oh Boy and Hey Ma. I don't think Hey Ma was the scheduled second single since Jay fuck'd him over he had to make it the second single. To promote Juelz.

Actually Def Jam owned 50% of the ROC. They bought a 50% stake for $1.5M in 97 when they signed the 1st distribution deal.

"Jay, Dash and Burke recently renewed their contract with Def Jam for a reported $20 million. They brought Roc-A-Fella to the label in 1997 and sold the initial half-stake to Def Jam at that time for $1.5 million."

Jay just didnt like them niggas LOL...

"M.O.P. and the Dips were set to go out on the road with State Property for the Roc Army Tour in May. However, since Jay-Z announced his headlining role on the Roc the Mic Tour, the Roc Army Tour has been shelved (see "50 Cent, Jay-Z Set To 'Roc The Mic' ").

"I'm just telling you the story, and you take it as you want to take it," Santana said with regard to the botched tour plans. "The fact was, we was supposed to be doing Roc-A-Fella's tour, [and it would include] everybody on Roc-A-Fella except Jay-Z. Doesn't make sense to me. Jay is on Roc-A-Fella and he's going on tour with 50 Cent. Why are you not going on the Roc Army Tour? I have no problems with this, though. I'm just saying — it's a Roc-A-Fella tour and it's your label."

Juelz and the Dips were left scratching their heads even more when the entire roster of the would-be Roc Army Tour were called to join Jay on the Roc the Mic Tour — except them.

"Basically you leaving us with no tour," he said. "We're caked up anyway. We gonna find other ways to do it." "
