Many people are comprehended the whole hood/n-word pass comment. FIRST LET ME SAY HE SHOULD HAVE NEVER EVER EVER USE THE WORD... however

What he made an attempt to do is explain how stupid the whole hood/n-word pass idea really is. He was pretentiously saying" Look if there were really a such thing as a hood pass then there would be no need to make it politicially correct and refer to it as a hood pass. If the black community really aligned themselves with people outside of their race as the hood pass claims they do.. the person would be allow to say n-word... after all it is originally called the n-word pass.. folks just started called it the hood or ghetto pass to be PC...

Does everyone get that??? I hope i'm explaining it clearly.

Naw man your twisting it he made an extra point of the things he said, there was a manner to the whole interview that was consistant through that point and beyond it He said the way he felt then spun it in each question just to "play it safe" realizing he may be being to honest. The way you presented this thread was disheavaled and dishonest from the start and your closing argument like last post is as as consistant as Mayor was. Even now you are ignoring certain etiquette involved and the emphasize on Pronuciating the "ER" part I mean seriously the changing of the casual name from hood to N1GG3R spoke volumes in itself as most with in the Black Community have made it clear how we say it to one another and how it can be said to Offend. I have already beat the horse on the rest of the shit and I know some of you are just ignoring the facts because you do not want to see it or know it so you are spinning shit to justif your similar feelings. No Matter how you kats twist and spin it anyone with sense that was able to see the unadulterated interview can see what it is and how he feels about Black folks, Black women, Women in General, His fanbase, Some of his Peers and learned Dude is a true self absorbed narcissist with a bigoted/racist nature down to his heart...

Just a question, but when you say "John Mayer feels that way," what are you referring to? Him not being attracted to black women? Him thinking he doesn't have a "hood pass?" Because if you actually read the interview, and are intelligent enough to understand what he said, the dude made a lot of sense and in no way was acting racist. What he said came off as stupid and idiotic, but only because it was worded wrong.

I took it as he was implying that he didn't understand what a "hood pass" was because he will never know what it is like to be black, and be denied service in a restaurant (like most blacks were back in the day.) If he wouldn't have used the terms "n*gger" and comparing his dick to david duke, would you honestly have a problem with what he said? Because if you do, you're just a sensitive ignorant fool....

I am not attracted to most black women...does that make me racist?

I'm sure he knew what the interviewer meant when he said "hood pass". He could've answered and moved on without using the n-word. But I do think it shows a somewhat racist mentality to compare your dick to David Duke. That name or thought would not come across most people's mind. And he could've just said he preferred to date white women or put it a little differently. I think he came across as stupid and idiotic because apparently, he is. And if he's not, he's certainly appears to be by making comments like those. I don't think the interviewer chopped and screwed that interview, I think John Mayer said that shit just like it was printed. If it wasn't just as he said, he would've been protesting this as soon as it hit the newsstands. He didn't have shit to say until he realized it was a problem.

Just because he used david duke in his answer doesnt make him a racist. It was clear he was attempting to make a joke, and it was a bad one in that. In fact, Neither you nor i know what is really going through his head. Could he be a racist? Sure....but only he knows.

What he said was stupid, idiotic, moronic, or any other word you want to use to say he lacked intelligence. But racist? C'mon...if you think that, you're just sensitive and trying to use racism as a crutch. Again, he could be a racist...but what he said in this aprticular interview was not racist at all.

I respect your opinion but I think that mentality is a big part of what's wrong with racial relations in this country. The assumption that "most" white people grow up in the suburbs surrounded by only whites is not true. Some yes, but not most. I can only speak for whites I know and have been around, but most whites do not say "n*gg*r" behind closed doors. And I'm from Birmingham, Alabama, a place some people consider the birthplace or epitomy of racism in this country. But don't get it twisted, I'm not sidin with or makin excuses for John Mayer. Like I said in my previous posts on this topic, I think the shit he said was ignorant. But he is not representative of all or even most white people. I think he's used to talkin that shit around other rich celebrity friends, who think everything's funny because they have no real worries or responsibilities. I doubt he understands whether or not he was tryin to be funny or sarcastic or whatever, some people don't give a fuck and take that shit seriously. And eventhough some of them might already have a chip on their shoulder and are just lookin for an excuse to complain, that doesn't excuse it. You don't know someone's reasons for being offended by comments like that. You could be offending people that have a completely legitimate reason for being angry.

Look I don't want to make John a representative of all White People but he does come from that background. Eminem was raised amongst Blacks and he still said Racist ish so to me it doesn't matter where Whites are raised, it's apart of White Culture to be racist. History proves it and this new case is no different. Now I'm not saying all Whites are racist cause there were plenty of whites marching right with us during the Civil rights movement and I have strong hope for all the white kids born during my generation which was post-Civil rights that grew up seeing Blacks on TV and gain more more status. I'm also happy for the young white kids now who are growing up with a Black President. This all is positive signs that White American can one day grow out of there racist ways. The fact remains John said some Racist shit. I'm a fan of his but I couldn't give him a pass "David Duke Dick"? Is he serious? Just like with the Imus sh!t when he said "Nappy Headed Hoes" yet everyone tried to turn it back on Black people and hip hop instead of calling him on his racist comment.

My issue is everytime someone White does something racist everyone is quick to defend them and say blacks are over-rating yet look at how they did Kanye. What he did was wrong but it wasn't that serious. I'm just sick of the double standards. White America swears up and down racism is gone espeically after Barack's election even though Barack LOST the white Vote to John Mccain 60%-40% so Barack didn't even win off the White Vote, he won cause he had ALL races supporting him not just White people. The bottom line, I want to live in a non racist world but some White people continue to show their true colors. Just 50 short years ago I wouldn't be able to go to a damn movie theater. America has not been healed from it's racist ways though we are making the right steps. Again I don't want to lump all White people in the same boat so I get what you are saying about generalizing but the bottom line White America has a racist past and they are far from over it. Just look on TV, most Newscasters and television shows "White". Look at congress, mostly White. Presidents have been all White for the entire history of the country, how many blacks died before Barack was elected? Way to many. At the end of the day White America has to prove to me they aren't racist and as of 2010 I can't say racism is dead. Actually with a Black President racism is coming out more and more. John Mayer who is my age showed that it doesn't matter, it's subconsious. Whites don't even know they are being racist anymore, it's just in them from this horrible history of American that has been passed down. I'm willing to say almost 100% of White Americans have heard a family member say some racist shit about blacks in their lifetime. That could really affect a child growing up who doesn't see color. Racism is taught and learn. Nobody is born racist. John Mayer, Ghetto Pass Revolked!.

Don't see what's wrong with it. John Mayer was just stating his opinion/preference and black women couldn't handle it. Now you've got Oprah going at him, yet she had a woman that killed her husband on her show.

Black people like you are just as racist as those white people you talk about so shut your mouth. The world will never be color blind and it works both ways. you talk about a double-standard, but fail to realize when "your people" are equally racist and make equally racist and bogoted comments. Look at the threads on this site..."white people shouldnt be allowed in hip hop," "would this forum be better without white people." Notice none of you "pro-black" clowns say anything about that. Wow, oh my god...john mayer isnt attracted to black women. Well why would he be when he has beautiful white chicks all over him.

Paul Mooney was on hot 97 the other day saying all sorts of shit that was way worse than ANYTHINGa John Mayer said and those black boys at that stations were laughing their ass off. "black is the new white," "we run this country" "white people are corny" "I like kanye cause he put that white bitch in her place." blah blah blah.

God forbid a white comedian said some of that shit and blacks would be crying in their soup.

I guess we'll just have to disagree on that one. Because, to me, his comments came across as racist. And I am the last person to be overly sensitive when it comes to racism. Some people can find racism in anything because that's all they're looking for. But this wasn't one of those times. What he said was pretty straight forward. Nothing was implied or taken out of context. He said the shit, now he has to face the consequences. Like I said, the main reason this pisses me off is because some people will make the assumption that all, or even most, white men feel this way and that's not reality. And just because another racist like Paul Mooney, who you mentioned, talks his racial bullshit, does not make it all right. Wrong is wrong. At the end of the day, neither one of them has gotten anything accomplished. All they're both doing is talkin a bunch of shit in a safe place. They stir up emotions and plant ideas in poor communities, then run back to the safety of their gated communities and watch it all blow up on CNN. Actions speak louder than words.

Capo baited him and is using entirely different contexts in a attempt to associate them. Paul Mooney is a Comedian and when he makes remarks they are in Jest and satire, John Mayor was speaking candidly and honest, huge difference. This is a dishonest attempt at connecting the mindstates when there is nothing remotely interchangeable with the 2. Mattee fell for the bait and switch with being brought in on common ground then switch directions on a comedian who is the exact opposite of mayor in mentality and motivation...

I have seen interviews with Paul Mooney where he was making racist comments and being dead serious. I know he's a comedian and a lot of times the things he says are in jest. I do see a distinct difference in Paul Mooney and John Mayer, however, and I should have made that more clear. Paul Mooney can get away with more because he is a comedian, John Mayer is not. And I don't see anything wrong with that justification. And gee757, the fact that he has a white wife does not make it all right to say racist things. Eventhough I don't agree with some of Paul Mooney's opinions, I do respect them and everything he's done for civil rights in this country. I'm not ignorant as to his accomplishments. I saw an interview with him once and he was asked what he thought about Michael Richards' ("Kramer" from Seinfeld) racist comments at a comedy club performance. He said while he did not agree with what he said, that he felt Michael Richards had as much right as he does to say what he wants. Now I don't think either one of them should be saying anything racist but I can respect the fact that Paul Mooney isn't dishing out anything he can't take in return. I don't know how different Mayer and Mooney are in mentality, but I agree they do differ in their motivations. And Capo did not bait me into anything, I've always felt that way about Paul Mooney. I don't have anything against anyone who likes him, we just don't share the same opinions across the board.

Of course he would have a white wife...white women are the most beautiful people on this earth. Still doesn't make him any less racist....

I know this is gettin off topic, but I don't think Paul Mooney married a white woman just so he could say whatever he wants about whites and use his marriage as evidence that he's not a racist. The man might not be a racist, but he does say some racist things. I would think she'd have to be a pretty open-minded person to marry him in the first place. The man's pretty wealthy, so I'm sure he could've found a woman of whatever race he desired. But the more I think about it, the more this distances him from John Mayer. Obviously, Paul Mooney has strong feelings about racism, which I think is fair for a black man of his age. He didn't grow up in an America with a black president. So, I can excuse some of his feelings. The fact that he was able to look beyond that and marry a white woman, tells me a lot about his character. But what's John Mayer's excuse? He grew up in a middle-class suburb surrounded by white people in, what I would imagine is, your typical suburban isolation from reality.

He (Paul Mooney) cannot be racist because he got marriage with a white woman. remember one simple act, a voice was savedare there a million more of her to save us all.
