I'm black and I've listen to John Mayer cause I'm a fan of the gutair and he plays one hell of a gutair but that sh!t he said was racist. I find it funny White America acting like KanYe killed or rapped Taylor Swift but they are all giving John a pass. It just goes to show you the double standards continue. To Me John is no different than a lot of White people. He was raised around nothing but Whites who were probably saying racist things around him as a child and he grew up with "Subconsious Racism" meaning he believe he's not racist but his upbringing still gives him racist tendencies. I respect your opinion but I think that mentality is a big part of what's wrong with racial relations in this country. The assumption that "most" white people grow up in the suburbs surrounded by only whites is not true. Some yes, but not most. I can only speak for whites I know and have been around, but most whites do not say "n*gg*r" behind closed doors. And I'm from Birmingham, Alabama, a place some people consider the birthplace or epitomy of racism in this country. But don't get it twisted, I'm not sidin with or makin excuses for John Mayer. Like I said in my previous posts on this topic, I think the shit he said was ignorant. But he is not representative of all or even most white people. I think he's used to talkin that shit around other rich celebrity friends, who think everything's funny because they have no real worries or responsibilities. I doubt he understands whether or not he was tryin to be funny or sarcastic or whatever, some people don't give a fuck and take that shit seriously. And eventhough some of them might already have a chip on their shoulder and are just lookin for an excuse to complain, that doesn't excuse it. You don't know someone's reasons for being offended by comments like that. You could be offending people that have a completely legitimate reason for being angry.

I think he was nonchalant about it but I definately think he was dead serious and truly feels that way. I'm not defending him at all. I think he should be held accountable and even boycotted. I never supportted his ass before, but that's just because I didn't like his music, but I still checked it out. But in the future, I won't even give his shit a listen. Like I said, he doesn't represent all white people, but at the same time, if white people sit back and don't say shit, that gives it the appearance that white people approve. I feel you on that and have seen by your posts you were a reasonable dude regardless of your ethnicity. I came at you the way I did to make sure I was not mistaken and you definitely reinstated my confidence in you. I know plenty of White folks Like you and others Like Mayor and Capo who see nothing wrong with this behaviour, just Like I know black Folks that are outraged by it and others that see nothing wrong in it. Just a question, but when you say "John Mayer feels that way," what are you referring to? Him not being attracted to black women? Him thinking he doesn't have a "hood pass?" Because if you actually read the interview, and are intelligent enough to understand what he said, the dude made a lot of sense and in no way was acting racist. What he said came off as stupid and idiotic, but only because it was worded wrong.

I took it as he was implying that he didn't understand what a "hood pass" was because he will never know what it is like to be black, and be denied service in a restaurant (like most blacks were back in the day.)
