dude im a grown man wit 2 jobs and a girl wut i look like comin on here just to get people to talk 2 me lls where they do that at?

and u say people dont wanna give a reason cause they dont wanna fall 4 my tactics and im stuck in my ways ok thats not the point of commenting on the boards cause im sure 95% of the people on these boards are "stuck in there ways" so me knowing that i still made this thread not to make them think like me but just to enlighten them thats all dude its all fun people gettin upset like i disrespected them for makin this thread or like im reachin i can see if i said gucci or wayne was the greatest lls me sayin jay i believe is not far-fetched i feel i made some points whether or not its tru or not is a another story but that is y we are here "discussion boards"

now as far as mc goes 2 me a mc is someone that is lyrical that has flow has punchlines has wordplay has metaphors double entendre's etc...

wuts ur definition?

So basically, your definition of an MC is someone that's a walking dictionary? Someone that uses the big words, has metaphors, similes, and uses every other literary technique?

That's a very limited view of the art.

To me, MC'ing is less about what's being said, and more about how it's being said. Pac connected with people in a way that even Jay-Z has not. His music transcended race, age, gender, genre, occupation, geographic location, social status, religious preference, etc. He has college courses named after him and even has professors writing about his music/aura and attempting to dissect his lyricism.

Pac was simple. But sometimes the most profound things are said in the simplest ways.

ok maybe i should have elaborated more they dont have to say big words but like i said flow metas punches wordplay etc... they gotta be able to tell stories freestyle battle that to me is the essence of a mc

now i can agree with u sayin pac connected with people the way jay never will and u sayin pac has college courses and how he transcended race age etc... i believe that had more to do with pac the person more then pac the artist even though pac the artist was great so im def not tryin to slight him

I'm not trying to talk against you, so please don't take it that way, ok? I just feel that maybe you wouldn't have received so much negative feedback had you began your "thread' a bit different. You know what I mean? Maybe just rephrased it in a different way. I mean of course it's opinion based, but do you really think people are going to reply with a positive comment when you don't even give them a chance to give feedback on what they think. You came out and said Jay-Z is the G.O.A.T... and of course that's fine, but you can't put your opinion in the form of a fact: if you know what I mean. You made it clear that you feel that way, no matter what anyone has to say; do you really think people want to discuss things with someone who seems pretty stuck on one thing? No, not really because there's no point. Now, had you said, "Jay-Z is the most successful rapper." or "Jay-Z has had the most record sales" then that would've been better, because that topic is based off of facts, and can be proven, so there's room to discuss, you know? Plus, this is always a well-discussed topic. No disrespect to you, and I'm sorry if I'm coming off that way. I really don't mean any harm.

I understand that.

Pac put his entire self into the material...it was no holds barred. So even if you feel that Pac's acclaim was mainly just a result of the Pac image, his music was a great representation of who was as an artist and as a person. His image was his music...as he didn't represent the music, the music represented him.

It wasn't fabricated. It wasn't fake.

He made music that people felt, that people could connect to. It wasn't just an image; he was spittin' real life shit. It was authentic. That's probably why he was so successful, because he made music that everyone could relate to. He wasn't limited with his artistic vision, he just layed it all out there.

Jay is stuck inside a box musically. And I don't think he'll ever see the type of acclaim that Pac received, primarily because I don't think he genuinely loves the craft.

I used hate jay z then after a while i learned to like him and reread what is said. I just can't stand the way people are on dudes dick.

I cant lie his body of work speak volumes. His swagger Is on point too But its barrowed but to say he is the greatess of all time is crazy that's like saying ye is the goat of producing music. Jay's is nice but I can't say he's the goat. Most consistent maybe. But to make him the Ali, Michael Jordan of the game is so off target. Before both Ali and Mike turned pro they both won the. Gold. Consistent can never = the greatest of all time. Hollaback!!

yea tru u can say pac's life was real his music was real but u can't say jay's life was and music wasnt he has spit so much real shit and 4 u 2 say jay is stuck in a box how could that be when the man has been able 2 stay relevant for so long he can give u a track like minority report then do you wanna ride and then can i get a fuck you to mama love's me and 4 u 2 say he doesn't genuinely love his craft the man has made 14 albums including the r kelly and linken park joints jay be set as far as finances go since what blueprint so he def aint doin it 4 the money

Tupac may always be seen as the GOAT, but Jay-Z is definitely closer to that title than ANYONE else dead or alive.

yea tru he goin always be viewed by most people as the goat because he passed away b4 his time and the same goes 4 big and now niggas make it seem like its blasphemy to say other wise like jay is a rook like he hasnt put his footprint in the game 4 as long as he can and just like i said in my 1st post i say jay the goat cause he may not be the best in every category (i mean who is) but i think u can make a strong case of him being atleast the top 5 in every category and wut other artist can u say that about? cause i can't think of 1

This shit again??? Some things never change. I happen to agree w/ the thread title...Jay is the G.OA.T. imo, but thats just my opinion. Music is all subjective so there will never be a unanimous, undisputed G.O.A.T. so lets get over it people.

2pac is the goat and though jay makes an argument for the greatest alive,he can't f--- with 2pac at all. I seen this post from innercity99

"I've seen alot of threads about how Jay-Z isn't this or isn't that like how he's not nicer the Canibus how he doesn't make better songs or have a wider range of Topics then Pac how he's not deeper the Nas and so on and so on but whether or not all this is tru can u name another Rapper that brings as much to the table as Jay from Classic Albums (Reasonable Doubt The Blueprint The Black Album) Street Anthems ( Where I'm from, Hard Knock Life etc...) Stories (Meet The Parents, A Week Ago etc...) Radio Hits (H.O.V.A, Give it to me etc...) Songs for the Ladies (Excuse Me Miss, Change Clothes, etc...) Songs with Emotion (Song Cry, Soon you'll understand etc...) Songs Spittin Real Shit (Diamond Is Forever, Dead Presidents etc...) Lyrical Tracks (Lyrical Exercise, What More Can I Say etc...) Club Bangers ( Dirt off Your Shoulders, Do It Again) Mix Tapes (S. Collections) Freestyles (Return from World Tour Hot 97etc...) Battle Tracks (Takeover, Blueprint 2 etc...) Consistency With Albums, Relevance in the Game Swagger Album Sales Respect in the Game etc..."

ANd I had to laugh. You make it seam like he was many great m.c.s rolled up in one man, when actually 2pac THA TRUE GOAT is that multi talented rapper. Jay is a dope rapper but sounds damn near the same,no matter what he's discussing. 2pac could do that smooth jay-z/snoop playa shit (temptations, how do you want it etc). He could spit that clear deep shit like scarface (it ain't easy,my block, krazy) He could come left field with the unpredicatble innovation of a nas (though pac's way above him too) (brenda's got a baby, tear drops and closed caskets, ) He could come with that explosive shit like a dmx (pain, hell razor, etc) Jay can't match 2pac and has ample time to do so. he knows he hasn't proved it to the general public. That's why you'll hear songs like "what more can i say", then 6 years later "reminder". He's in total disbelief that he is not the undisputed goat. He needs to try harder. He has more b.s. rap songs than 2pac, i'll give him that. Meaning he has more songs where he rambles on about nothing in an attempt to show his lyrical skills . He's a great bull shitter. 2pac knew that being direct with depth, creative details and realsim was more effective than excessive metaphors, double entandras (however you spell it) and other b.s.. he spoke on this in an interview. This is why jay has to tell you he's the best and make songs telling you again to try and convince, while the real GOAT never said he was the GOAT,not once. He was elected by the people and his title remains. Jay's music at best is like a well written movie with a nice setting and capped off by awful acting. At worst it has no plot at all. Explanation: On excuse me miss he sounds like he's in the exact same mood as talking about street shit (not 100% but often). Songs like lucky me sounds forced and downright fradulent (no soul at all). His new album is basically a mixtape (some remade songs by rhianna, kanye, kid cudi, young jeezy etc). Jay might be the smartest rapper ever when it comes to hustling, but you get what you work for. 2pac wanted to be felt by the masses and he is the MOST felt rapper ever with the most relevant songs. Jay wanted to make money while fooling the public however he could and he achieved that. His scheme is hidden fom untrained brains but i peep game. Comes out with a run of the mil drug album and flops. Comes back with a strategy similar to master p's. Master p seen the gap 2pac left and start biting him left and right "lord knows, picture me ballin" "dear mamma, keep ya head up,from the cradle to the grave" (actual P lyrics). Jay makes his 2nd album mimicking the bad boy flava, prematurely claiming king of the city and eventually filling biggie shoes by biting him left and right for years to come. (no examples needed). He calls this paying homage, yet later he claims he's better than the man he was biting. If you didn't hear him say that, listen to WHAT MORE CAN I SAY("no i ain't get shot a whole bunch of times" "excluding nobody"I should be 1st on everybody list, let's see what happens when i no longer exist "').Who he talking about? 2pac did none of that cock shit and song for song can not be matched by anyone.
