Funny af

So had another film orgy when I went out of town. I continued my Michael Bayham Summer tribute:

movies_will_smith_career_pictures_2.jpg

(GRADE - B +) After watching the sequel, you know I had to pop in the original. This was Michael Bay's debut film and the movie that put Will and Martin on the Blockbuster path they both would go on. "Bad Boys" is the buddy cop film in the vein of Legendary 80's films like "Beverley Hills Cop", "48 Hours" and "Lethal Weapon". Stars Martin and Will as best friends turn Miami PD partners. When a female friend goes undercover for Mike Lowery, he puts her in a bad situation when she ends up in trouble with some drug dealers. Now with her roommate as a witness. Mike and Marcus must switch identities until the Drug Case is solved and keep the witness safe from the Drug Dealers. 1st this is just one of those Classic 90's film. The replay value is crazy. Martin and Will chemistry is just so good. The jokes are laugh out loud funny. The story is a little typical Buddy Cop film but it's straight. Crazy this was Michael Bay's 1st movie. But Will always love The Original "Bad Boys". You can tell Michael's Bay's addiction to Fast Cars and Explosions started here. Oh and the Soundtrack was fire too.

(GRADE B - ) Michael Bay's 3rd film is the Disaster Meteor film "Armageddon". When scientist find out a Meteor that will destroy the planet is Less than 2 weeks away from Earth's Atmosphere. The US Government takes matter indo their hands by wanting to implant a Nuke on the Asteroid. Only problem, the Astronauts don't know how to deep drill so they decide to get a crew of unlikely oil riggers lead by Bruce Willis to go on a Space Mission to blow up the Meteor. I think this was a decent film but it was step down from "The Rock" and "Bad Boys" to me. The cast was good with Ben Affleck, Owen Wilson, Michael Clarke Duncan and Steve Busimi. The action was on point too. During this time "Deep Impact" another meteor film came out but "Armageddon" was the highest grossing film of 1998. Also loved that Areosmith song. Brings me back to High School.

Rise-of-the-Planet-of-the-Apes-Poster_.jpg

(GRADE = B +) "Rise of the Planet of the Apes" acts as a reboot and prequel to the legendary sci-fi classic "Planet of the Apes" Series. In these films we find out how the Apes evolved into what eventually will be the Apes in the original series. Directed by Ruport Wyatt and starting James Franco. James Franco plays a scientist trying to find a cure for Alzheimer. His drug is being tested on Apes. Well when one apes goes haywire they cancel his program. Franco's character is then told he can do his reseach from home where he takes a child ape of Ceaser. Ceaser grows up like a child but his intelligence increaces dramatically. I really enjoyed this reinvention of the series. Tim Burton's 2001 remake wasn't that great to me but this was really good. Andy Serdkis of Gollum and King Kong fame did great as Ceaser. Loved the part when Ceaser decided not to go home or when he spoke. It was a very smart reinvention of the series.

(GRADE = B +) "Dawn of the Planet of the Apes" is the sequel to "Rise" and the 8th film of the franchise. This time the movie is directed by Matt Reeves of "Cloverfield" fame. James Franco didn't return to reprise his role. The story picks up 4 years later after "Rise". Ceaser and the Apes are living peacefully in their jungle habitat. Humans meanwhile have been fighting the Virus for the last 4 years. There is a human colony ran by Gary Oldman who need to use water generators to get energy. The only problem is those generators are where the Apes live. I thought this was a really good sequel. Love the internal conflict from the Apes and humans perspective. Malcolm played by James Clarke is basically the James Franco role. I think James could of came back into the story and they even payed homage to his character. It did feel a little anti-climatic cause it's the middle chapter. It's not better than the 1st one but I think it's just as good. Loved the action and the final battle too.

Caught a couple of films I missed on the Big Screen on home video:

richards.jpg

(GRADE = B + ) The Iconic Oscar Winning Living Legend himself Tom Hanks is back in this heart pounding Thriller at sea. "Captain Phillips" is the story of a cargo ship captain ship being taken over by Pirates off the coast of Somalia. It was directed by Paul Greengrass of the "Borne Trilogy". It also starts new comer Somalian actor Barkhard Abdi. When a Cargo Captain decides to take import supplies off the Coast of Somalia. He's warned of Pirate activity. Not to his surprised his boat is stalked and attacked by Pirates. Due to his experience and skill he was able to fend them off but once they get on the boat he has to use different skills to save his crew and himself. I thought it was a good movie. It's crazy cause I heard of the story but I didn't know how many people died or what so it was interesting. I think Barkhard Abdi killed it as the Pirate leader. Considering this was his 1st movie. He went toe to toe with the God Tom. That scene when he was like, "Hey, Look at me, LOOK AT ME!. I'm the Captain now". He most definitely deserved his supporting actor Oscar Nod. After seeing this you have a deep respect for Captain Phillips and how he got out of this situation in real life.

(GRADE = C - ) This is the reboot/remake to the 1980's Sci-Fi Classic "Robocop". It's basically a direct remake of the original just even way more futuristic and with better visual effects. It boost a nice cast including Michael Keaton, Samuel L Jackson and Gary Oldman. I have to be honest, I grew up on the original so honestly I wasn't very impressed. It was a paint by the numbers remake but I didn't "Care" about Murphy the way I did in the original. Why is that? Murphy's death in the originals was so terrifying, you wanted him to get revenge. The writers were lazy with the whole "Blowing up the car" thing. Overall it was a decent attempted but it's not seeing "Robocop 1 or 2". Yes it's better than that trash "Robocop 3" but that's not saying much. After Conan, Total Recall and now Robocop, Hollywood needs to stop remaking 80's Classics. Yes the effects and action were straight but the final battle was weak, it was just a mess.

Watched Welcome to Sweden today

Pretty funny show, although i am partial of sitcoms without laugh tracks. There are some sexy swedish women on it too.

Checked out Casablanca for the first time, and its definitely a classic. Great story line and acting, I was entertained the whole way through despite it being made in the 40s.

SN: I wouldve left that bitch in casablanca

Watched the original Scarface. It was practically the same exact storyline, from tony killing his boss and stealing his girl to Tony being over protective of his sister. It definitely gets credit for being the original, but the palma/pacino version is much better.

Watched Son of Batman, anime movie....

it was okay, some great action...main gripe is Deathstroke's voice actor didnt sound right and they portayed him weak af. Totally suprised about how much they done him wrong lol.

American people are so fucking great in cinema. I watched Breaking bad and it was dope. And i'm watching The wire right now and it's fucking dope too! Fuck french culture.

Watched a nice little indie flick called Cold in July starring Michael C. Hall, Sam Shepherd, and Don Johnson. Is set in 1989 Texas and is about a mild mannered middle class family man (Hall) who kills an unarmed intruder in his house one night. But is the man he killed really the man the police identify him as? Can't really go into further detail without giving stuff away. Left a ton of loose ends but still a good flick. 7/10.

Just watched The Purge

Very underwhelming could have done alot more with this concept looking forward to watching the sequel. Nobody told me Michael Jackson's kid was in it

the wife was stupid everyone would have caught bullets for that bullshit they pulled, we couldnt be friends after that

amazing spider man 2. I got kind of a meh feeling from this as far as action goes. the problem was there was no villain focus. the trailers made it seem like it was all about electro. yeah he causes most of the problems in the city but he really wasn't the main villain . it was harry Osborn. I don't know the name of the actor who played him but he did a good job. I like the scene where he breaks electro out of raven croft. Jamie foxx did a good job as electro also. like somebody said in the marvel phase 2 thread there is no immersion. electros special effects and powers were impressive its just that after4 spiderman movies it feels like I've seen it all spiderman didn't impress me much other than this spiderman is more true to the character with his quips and smart alleck attitude. I know i'm doing a little nitpicking here but what I also didn't like is that capt stacy dies before gwen. I read the comic version of this story 2 years ago and her dying first was more dramatic because it turned cpt stacy against spiderman and caused him to put out a citywide manhunt on spiderman but I understand that every entertainment medium has its different interpretation of these stories. the story was good though. I liked the backstory with peters father and norman Osborn over all I give it a B-.

lastly unlike most people I have no problem with the last scene with the rhino besides that stupid kid confronting him(oh please!) its a set up for the sinester six I understood where marvel was going with this. my only problem with it is the filmmakers insulted movie goers intelligence with this unrealistic situation. a thug in an armored battle suit is letting of heavy artillery rounds on the streets of manhattan and these people don't have the good sense to get the hell out of dodge and they are standing behind police barracades watching this shit go down like they are at a parade. the little idiot kid in spiderman suit jumps out in front of the rhino and no adult or the police for that matter had the good sense to snatch that kid and pull him out of harms way? the stupidity of that shit makes me wish that kid got shot in the arm at least. what the hell were the writers thinking?
