This muthafucka is dumb as fuck ...

"For starters, Mr. West will profit from a song about how many of his fellow black peers are suffering in America. And how much of that money is actually going into something that strives to help eradicate the problem?"

So he admits to not knowing what in the fuck kanye does with his money or time ... Yet still finds a way to critique kanye or what he does with his money and time?

Amiright?

....damn there are some hack ass journalist out here today boy ...

Furthermore why is it in American culture we (some) almost lust for celabraties to impitimize these heroic He-Man characters and resolve all of life's ill's? Why can't you as a participating member of society try to develope resolutions to these issues yourself? Why do you need to wait for rapper to tell you what to do as if

You can't process the information at hand and decipher a plan from there? ... Artist spark social conversation and lead people to creating the change they believe neccasary ..that's impactful itself

I agree with the article 100%. I watched the performance and read the lyrics. It all seems a little staged and not genuine. I'd like to hear from Kanye what his intentions and goals are if, he truly feels and believes what he rapped about in the song.

I honestly had every intention of reading the entire post but I stoped @

There is no doubt that his lyrics speak various levels of truth

Everything else he could possibly write is irrelevant if the tone and content is anything like what lead to this line

If the message is good, clearly this bitch is hating the messenger

Interesting article, made some valid points .. .

Anyone remember "Ni**as in Paris"? When going on the Watch the Throne tour and performing before crowds that were predominantly non-black, how could Kanye promote the usage of the n-word and later complain about how modern-day racism still exists?

sometimes the messenger can taint the message...

and if you read the rest he's not really hating

among other things he's just pointing out the dichotomy that exist within ye's music... for example, one minute ye is speaking on the the perils and pitfalls of materialism within the black community, then the next he's referring to himself as the self proclaimed louis vuitton don

that is somewhat of the appeal of his music for some and he's not the only one doing it, but not to that extreme. comes off as manipulative and disingenuous

kinda off topic but ''new slaves'' musically speaking was somewhat weak. i like the production but everything else was meh...

honestly, the writer of that article is spot on.

that's why I fuck with New Slaves, but don't fuck with it. I get the message, but the messenger fucks it up.

Kanye will say all this anti-corporation shit and come Thanksgiving, he'll be ready to debut a new pair of Yeezy's.

Songs about corporate exploitation... Not simply about having a relationship with a corporation... This is America in some way shape or form your undoubtably going to have some sort of relationship with a corporate byproduct ... Whether it be your doctor that you to and get your yearly checkups from ... The grocery store where you by your food from ... The gas station were you buy your gas from etc etc ... Everybody has some sort of dependent relationship with corporate America for it is the way our society is set up ...so to try and critique his message simply on the basis of that is kind of incoherent ... As what he is talking about in the song had more to do with exposing instances of corporate exploitation rather than anything else ..

Now if you wanted to really make a critique he could have talked to the point of kanye representing a corporation (Nike) who has for many years used cheap labor from overseas sweatshops to manufacture their products ... But this shallow ass piece reverted to tired talking points instead ..

I.E.

"He says Nigga! How can he speak on racism!"

Like ... Nigga ...are you kidding me?

I don't put stock into the hypocritical/contradictory shit, cause @ the end of the day, we all have our different sways, we be in different moods for different things.

As Nas once said, 'Try tellin' Bob Dylan, Bruce, or Billy Joel they can't sing what's in their soul'.

Why must our artist be pigeon holed? We gonna say Kanye ain't nice talking about either subject?

And he been conscious and egotistical since day one. Had he only been talking the self righteous shit, we be comparing his career to Mos def or the like. Hollering about conscience rappers can't get on.

****More off topic, I couldn't understand most of the lyrics but I did like the production. That, black dude with a white girl on the top floor, king kong line was bananas *pun intended*

lol at niggas not reading a few paragraphs honestly it wasn't that long of an article i have seen much longer.

I tried sticking up for ye at times but honestly allot of this shit now can't be defended. You talm bout new slaves but the bitch you knocked up a bitch who is eating off large fashion companies and scripted TV. You trying to bitch about racism but WTT had moments of sophisticated elitist tones.

When ye first came out mid 2000's his messages were dope and matched what he lived. Now he has become the cautionary tale of his lyrics from All Falls Down. "The prettiest people do the ugliest things for the road to riches and diamond rings." If ye wanna be super elite im better than you nigga thats fine. But don't bitch about corporations and racism but you saying nigga this nigga that and wifed up to Kim K.

Niggas just cannot get over that Kim K shit huh? Lol.... That shit burns their souls

lol when niggas were talking about kanye lost wifing up a chick like kim k i defend ye slightly by pointing out many chicks you mess with have been with their fair share of guys. And even pointed out how a chick like taylor swift ran through more guys in the last 2 years than kim k has been with in 10 years.

That said im just saying if your wifey in kanyes case is a product of materialism and tabloids and corporations like E!/viacom shoving her into fame. But then you mad at corporations and materialism.

lol what da heck u expect? who care's how hypocritical a rap artist is, that's why they a rap artist and they not running countries duh

I'm not reading it cause it's too long. I'm not reading it cause it's too long for an article discussing kanye west. i don't need to read paragraphs on the nigga. it ain't that serious. one paragraph tops on that nigga.

Just a douchebag with NOTHING to say but wont shut up. Likely has a personal problem with Kanye that either involves hatred of blacks, rap, Kanye's Taylor Swift incident or all of the previous things mentioned.

Song is great and actually has a message. People complain that rappers dont say anything or take any stances on current events. When one does they leak tears out the pussy. FOH...

word... i wouldn't say we are pigeon holing ye, just pointing out that he is apart of the problem and not a victim likes he likes to claim in "new slaves"

and yes many great artist have exhibited contradictory views ( nas, pac, etc). it's human nature. but ye has just been so flagrant with it making him an unconvincing proponent against consumerism, materialism, prison industrial complex, etc

for example, the song has protest rhymes about the lopsided black men in prison statistics, yet just a few bars earlier he’s flossing for listeners who can’t even afford dental insurance....smh

and yes he doesn't exclude himself from the issue, as the song states. however he casts himself as both the victim and a victimizer in the situation...which is crazy considering he's one of the worlds most influential artist

i dunno just hard for me to take anything ye says seriously and makes me scoff at anyone who claims that ye is courageous or some sort of musical genius for this.... i will say he's a marketing genius though

Anybody that has a JOB in American is tied into reaping the benifits of corporate success ... If you work at Walmart your reaping the benifits of corporate success ... What does that have to do with what kanye is talking about in this song? I think your confusin what his message is..

You say Kim is a product of major cooperations pushing her into fame correct? But what your neglecting to acknowledge is the general publics acceptance of that push ..their embracing of tht push ... are you saying that people were forced into watching her show? We're they forced to "keep up with the kardashians?" were they commanded to pick up and purchase those tabloids? Or are people so zombified that they can't help but to enduldge? ... Which would be interesting if that were the case.. because that train of thought ... That lack of free thinking eerily resembles some characteristics associated with a "slaves" mentality ...
