if that package was too rich for houston blood
they can just stand pat with all their youngsters and watch the rangers run away with the division
again
if theyre not giving up bregman then martes has to be the headliner and work from there
quintana is a slight notch below sale
not as flashy but maybe more efficient all the way around
over the last 3 seasons quintana has been 8th best pitcher in baseball people just dont know enough about him because he plays for the white sox
Lol yea teams can't expect to get talent without giving up some of their high upside prospects or young mlb players.Unless the astros have another deal up their sleeve I'm surprised they aren't goin after a tor starter that's the only thing keeping them from the red sox, indians '17 al contenders conversation.
Quintana is a #2 starter on a great contract with 4 years of control give him some runs instead of that no run support nonsense the white sox were steady doin and he'd be a cy young candidate. You GOTTA give up bregman, tucker or marte at least 1-2 of those names
i imagine
the white sox dont have a strong incentive to trade quintana now with sale gone -- he still has 4 years left on his contract and if he keeps doing what he does and adds another all star appearance to his resume his value could very well go up -- he is 1 of 3 pitchers over the last 4 years to have thrown 200+ innings with an era under 3.50 (scherzer and bumgarner being the other two)
i think theyre thinking that
moncada
giolito
lopez
all could contribute in 2017 and the a.l central is extremely weak and will only get weaker so their energy would be better spent shopping robertson, frazier and cabrera than quintana
they could trade nate jones too but i see him as the logical replacement for robertson + hes got a great contract
one thing is certain though
if the white sox do trade everyone they possibly can
they have to get some hitters in return
outside of moncada its been a very pitcher heavy return
im confident they can draft a pitcher and turn him into a quality mlb pitcher -- they have an extensive track record in doing that --
im not confident that they can draft a position player and turn him into a quality mlb player though -- almost every position player they pick up needs to be near (AA or above) ready so the white sox will have less time to fuck up their development
