a necessary signing for the cardinals

they badly needed somebody to come in fa

i think they overpaid but they probably had to do so to get him

his agent probably put that story out to force their hand lol

he will be a solid bat in the lineup for them

defensively he is adequate in cf but slowing down a bit though

cub fans gotta give fowler a round of a applause

long standing ovation at his first at bat

then boo the hell outta him for the rest of his career

with most big deals likely done

the n.l looks about as cut and dried as it can be

the same teams who contended last year likely contend again with virtually no surprises likely outside of maybe the rockies or dbacks possibly hanging in for awhile before falling off

the dodgers potentially could be the one contender who is in trouble if jansen leaves

heard on the radio about an interesting insider piece for espn that tracked the perceived off season winners since 2010

in EVERY case

the team judged to have had the best offseason failed to make the playoffs the next year

this winters current off season 'winner'

boston

Wyatts-RAW-gif-001.gif

and rizzo whiffs again

dont know what is worse

rizzos inability to fix that teams most glaring weekends for 4 years in a row

or

the teams owners cheapness with anyone other than boras clients

im surprised the nats offered the most money

i heard reports they declined to match melancons offer because they didnt want to invest that much in a closer

i smell blood

if that package was too rich for houston blood

they can just stand pat with all their youngsters and watch the rangers run away with the division

again

if theyre not giving up bregman then martes has to be the headliner and work from there

quintana is a slight notch below sale

not as flashy but maybe more efficient all the way around

over the last 3 seasons quintana has been 8th best pitcher in baseball people just dont know enough about him because he plays for the white sox

the washinton nationals must have an awful clubhouse and/or theyre terrible at negotiating

they offered zobrist, heyward, cespedes and jansen more money (jansen was deferred im not sure about the others)

desmond and ramos declined their extension offers and ended up getting less as FAs

brandon phillips declined the trade to stay on a last place team

paid full price for scherzer, eaton and strasburg

Lol yea teams can't expect to get talent without giving up some of their high upside prospects or young mlb players.Unless the astros have another deal up their sleeve I'm surprised they aren't goin after a tor starter that's the only thing keeping them from the red sox, indians '17 al contenders conversation.

Quintana is a #2 starter on a great contract with 4 years of control give him some runs instead of that no run support nonsense the white sox were steady doin and he'd be a cy young candidate. You GOTTA give up bregman, tucker or marte at least 1-2 of those names

i imagine the white sox dont have a strong incentive to trade quintana now with sale gone -- he still has 4 years left on his contract and if he keeps doing what he does and adds another all star appearance to his resume his value could very well go up -- he is 1 of 3 pitchers over the last 4 years to have thrown 200+ innings with an era under 3.50 (scherzer and bumgarner being the other two)

i think theyre thinking that

moncada

giolito

lopez

all could contribute in 2017 and the a.l central is extremely weak and will only get weaker so their energy would be better spent shopping robertson, frazier and cabrera than quintana

they could trade nate jones too but i see him as the logical replacement for robertson + hes got a great contract

one thing is certain though

if the white sox do trade everyone they possibly can they have to get some hitters in return

outside of moncada its been a very pitcher heavy return

im confident they can draft a pitcher and turn him into a quality mlb pitcher -- they have an extensive track record in doing that -- im not confident that they can draft a position player and turn him into a quality mlb player though -- almost every position player they pick up needs to be near (AA or above) ready so the white sox will have less time to fuck up their development

Yea I was tellin this cat offline they need more young position players they got a stable of young pitchers but pitching is way to volatile to build a team around and rely on.Plus like you said the white don't have a history of developing position players anderson the only recent one who is solid.

I'd try to get alex verdugo or puig from the dodgers for robertson. He can set up for l.a. in the 8th especially after blanton was gettin rocked in the playoffs.Doubt the dodgers give up bellinger since gonzalez only has 2 years left on his contract

I was sayin they don't have to trade quintana, abreu neither only the vets

white sox seem to be following scheurholz/braves model from the 90s

high upside pitching and athletes

i would love the next deals to be for position players only

as excited as i am for this white sox rebuild i know what it also means for the chicago bulls -- you know how reinsdorf is -- i think he knew the white sox were gonna go under a rebuild so i bet the real reason he added rondo was not to try and win a title but to try and make the playoffs so he can get that playoff revenue $$$

i really believe if last seasons white sox team stayed in 1st place jimmy butler is in boston or somewhere else right now

now its no way both his teams go under a rebuild at the same time

bulls are gonna be stuck in mediocrity

Yup and what's messed up is bulls fans are loyal yet the team has an owner who don't give fuck about the bulls and 2 bozos in management. They were top 5-10 in attendance during the ron mercer era wit aj guyton and khalid el amin runnin pg lol

They should be doing the same thing the white sox did, jimmy is the equivalent of chris sale when you think about it.His value is at it's peak and the perfect trade partner is the current coach/prez in Minnesota but they burned that bridge to dust.Bulls fo will sell this hope they will attract a star fa when in reality they'll probably sign bosh if he gets cleared, max paul millsap, strikeout again or sign some 34 year old past his prime fa then be a treadmill team for the foreseeable years like the hawks
