They got that michael taylor cat they can sub in as a defensive replacement in cf then move mccuthchen to lf

but yea werth and mccuthen been declining on defense. There's a lot of smoke around the nationals they were saying on mlb tv last night they're poised to make a big move or moves cuz the harper murphy window only has 2 years left

washington been a weird team the last 4-5 seasons

they have won 2 divisional races in blowouts but in the both times they had a close race they lost out and both times got annihilated in the season series to the team who beat them

i need to see that team win a postseason series or its just hard for me to pull the choker label off

and of course now they have a guy who is probably one of the worst postseason managers in the last 25 years

i just dont see a team led by dusty getting past maddon or bochy to be honest in a 7 game series

Dude just made a good point on mlbtv he said rich hill is 36 and just got 3 years 48 mil

Sale will be 28 and has 3 years 38 mil left and is way more dominant. He said teams just playing hardball right now

Rosenthal said he thinks the red sox will acquire sale he thinks they'll end up giving up moncada.Heyman said sale is the nationals #1 priority which is why they're rebuffing the pirates ridiculous asking price for mccuthen

the melancon deal is a lot of money

but if that moves the market and puts jansen out of l.a then the giants get a huge benefit from overpaying

I think the cubs are waiting for the closers market to play out and davis is plan b I read the cubs in the cut on jansen if his price is in their range.I think the marlins are gonna surprise everybody and get either jansen or chapman

Then trade them a year from now

unless davis is coming cheaper than I think id rather use the prospects on a starter and sign a reliever

id give up soler as the headliner in a package though lol

Yea rangers don't really have any pitchers, I know they arent giving up darvish or hamels.Get orodizzi or smyly from the rays

lol you don't fuck wit soler like that.I feel you he definitely hasn't lived up to the hype but I think there's untapped potential that another team will benefit from. You couldn't tell me nothin after that game at st louis in '14 a few days after he was called up when he launched them 2 hr's and had the stadium quiet af.Been a lot of inconsistency and hamstring injuries since.

I refuse to believe the white sox about top trade chris sale without acquiring trea turner

Shelby miller and shark netted more and neither are close to the caliber of pitcher.I think the reports of the trade being close are to get other teams involved.

soler career could end tomorrow and you will always respect him for destroying the cardinals in the nlds last season lol

its not that i dont like him its just that i dont like him for this cubs team

now he has been hurt too often and has never really had a chance to establish himself as a player but i think he is an unneeded headache for the cubs

i like to listen to other cities sports shows around times like this and i heard this kc guy suggest that the royals package ventura and davis to the cubs for soler and prospects (kc seems to like soler a lot) -- not sure the cubs would want to take on venturas contract but kc really does not seem to like him and maybe a change of scenery would do him well

few things would be worse for cubs fans than the nationals getting sale and then the cardinals getting davis and cain

No doubt soler was the cubs best hitter that series

I heard this too from a local cubs cat,but ventura be intentionally throwing at teams and has slight character issues and he's not that nice as a pitcher his numbers low key suck.I rather get herrera from them if they can

At least soler has interest which I was kind of skeptical on

mondays meetings

other teams: hey, give us your best player

hahn: okay sure! and in return -

other teams: hahahahhaha no

giphy.gif

so now the astros dont want to move bregman

i love the mentality of these teams

i want your most valuable piece but i dont wanna move our valuable piece

a prospect can suddenly become an untouchable future hall of famer after 2 months of productivity meanwhile a guy thats put up great numbers for years is treated like dirt and is seen as having little to no value

gotta love prospecting

sale is the most accomplished combination of talent and cost control perhaps ever made available in trade

knock it off

you will be coming off your best prospect

YOU WILL

or you can get the fuck out of here lol

would be interesting to see how ventura would work under bosio but it might be too risky since his issues are as much attitude as it is mechanical

because of his contract soler is one of the guys who i wouldnt mind keeping and seeing him never amount to anything than trade him and watch him become an all star but theres just no role for him on this team -- he has an incredibly high ceiling but with the injuries, streaky play and soon to be crowded OF i just dont see him being a good fit

word though i was starting to think his value tanked like castros

but it turns out it hasnt

the yankees are currently projected with about 30 million in payroll space before they hit the luxury tax again

cashman been working for years to get under the tax number to reset the penalty rate and bringing in chapman would take up over half of their wiggle room

im looking on with great interest to see what the dodgers and yankees do with the new cba and the disincentives to blowing well past the tax threshold

i remember miguel cabrera and dontrelle willis netted cameron maybin and andrew miller and something else

maybin was ranked 6th best prospect and miller ranked 10th at the time

did they turn out like the tigers expected them to no but based on that i dont think the white sox are too far off base (so far) with their demands

the slogan for the astros next year

were going to score 8 runs a game but also give up 11

they do not have an ace (keuchel proved it this year) and has a 3 year window till correa, springer, altuve are up for huge contracts

no one is in the system that looks like an ace in the next 3 years

boston makes no sense not to pay the premium to add sale since they are deep in young talent and have unlimited payroll + prospects galore

price has been horrible in playoffs and sale would make him a number 2 and ease pressure

washington has 4 years of good play and not a single playoff series win

by the time giolito is the 3rd ace they need scherzer and the always hurt strasburg will be on the decline and harper will be gone

their window is the smallest

but lets keep pretending though
