You think the cubs gonna land Chapman?

I think they'll be in it but there's a line that will be drawn,I got this gut feelin the nationals gonna get chapman.I honestly think the cubs are being constantly mentioned interested in miller and chapman so other teams can up the ante.

Only thing I heard about L.A. is Puig is available but now that Kershaw is gonna be out longer i wonder do we add someone with Puig to get a starter or are we just trying to get bullpen help. If yall get one of them Yankee pitchers yall gonna be on some Golden State shit and the rest of baseball just gonna have to sit this year out. lol

Lol not if they keep struggling wit risp but yea I prefer chapman cuz rondon at times can be shaky and would be better served in the 8th imo,strop/edwards in the 7th etc that would be a nasty bullpen cuz chapman is lights out and intimidates lineups.

And next year the cubs I think will be even better cuz contreras will be up all year and schwarber will be back.Bryant,Rizzo,Contreras,Schwarber heart of the order will be a problem

It's concerning but the fact that yall seem to get on base anytime you want is scary. Yall will figure it out imo.

yea may need another lefty cuz heyward can't hit for nothin

Jon heyman said the white sox are considering selling and eaton, robertson, zach duke and frazier are the players that would possibly get traded
https://twitter.com/jonmorosi/status/756143995336597505

see this what I'm talkin about. The dodgers could lace the white sox but these fools too shortsighted to make that deal and hypothetically sale and kershaw would be scary I hope this would never happen.

i like what i been hearing about mike montgomery

he was a top 30 prospect once and according to buster olney he has added 4 mph to his fastball -- i remember chris sale losing 2-4 mph when he moved from the bullpen to the rotation and thats what i think is happening with dude -- since hes not starting anymore there is no need to conserve energy so hes able to throw harder

you can go as hard as you want in relief

many of the great relievers were once failed starters

if this guy has figured out something

this could be really really really good

half measures continue

thats that white sox shit

they would get a ransom in this market for sale/quintana him with those contracts especially right now when teams have a deadline and need things -- this is when you hose a team -- the white sox also need to have a philosophical epiphany in the type of players they target in the future -- they need to stop stocking the system with

big power

low contact players

and start stocking the system with players who have

high contact rates

get on base

and have power potential to tap into as they develop because their success rate of developing players is terrible and the success of the white sox will always be tapped so long as the current structure is in place -- the one thing i would keep the same is their development of pitchers -- thats the one area in the entire system that i can say theyre are good at

I aint gonna front I never even heard of this dude til yesterday cuz I don't watch the al west like that, but I trust theo in these situations

After reading about montgomery last night I felt like it was a good trade cuz the cubs didn't give up any top prospects and got a solid lefty who is better than clayton richard garbage ass.It also avoids last second trade deadline desperation they can still go after miller or chapman but they don't HAVE too cuz they already filled the need.New york media/fans are making it sound like the cubs are dumb for not trading schwarber for a reliever like the contention window will be slammed shut after this season win or lose. Also I think something bigger may be lined up either next week or this winter.

the debate between ravich and kurkjen on baseball tonight yesterday about schwarber and the yankees relievers was great -- ravich was saying trading schwarber for 2 months of chapman is a good idea -- kurkjen was telling him how silly it would be

schwarer getting traded isnt even a concern though -- theo saw him and fell in love with him -- nobody had him going 4 -- i remember watching him get drafted the draft experts covering it couldntt really believe he was the 1st position player in the draft -- i think theo has a soft spot for him and he is pretty much the most untouchable guy on the roster

his name popping up is exactly why schwarber is untouchable

hes 23

hes played half a mlb season and hes already other teams #1 want in potential trades (even after fucking up his leg)

but yeah i hadnt heard about dude either but for a blocked prospect with no defensive postion? i'll definitely take a guy who added 4 mph and is cost controlled for like 6 more years and that also addresses a need

astros are slowly catching up to the rangers

which is incredible

about 2 weeks ago they were up 8 games on houston

Rangers have allowed the most runs since the all star break.Baseball a funny game it don't matter how good you are or what your record is you will get humbled whether it's individually or as a team a lot of the best teams this season have slumped.Look at the giants and rangers now,Pirates about 6 weeks ago,the cubs goin into the all star break.Nationals lost like 7 in a row and 8 of 9 earlier in the season.

word

the mlb regular season is such a grind

its easy to get wrapped up in the highs and lows but ultimately as long as you can get to the playoffs and be relatively healthy its just a matter of being hot at the right time in october

apparently mlb is looking at possibly limiting number of relievers used in a game or limiting number of relievers used in an inning

part of improving pace of play

You know the problem with relief pitchers is that they're so good. I've got nothing against relief pitchers, but they do two things to the game: The pitching changes themselves slow the game down, and our relief pitchers have become so dominant at the back end that they actually rob action out of the end of the game, the last few innings of the game.
http://espn.go.com/mlb/story/_/id/1...ing-possible-limits-use-relief-pitchers-games

sounds like manfred wants the ball placed on a tee the last couple or 3 innings

he needs to be careful in alienating the fans who actually do watch the games in trying to get other people to watch

rangers were apparently talking a lot with the white sox on sale (and quintata as well)

mlbtraderumors says white sox like gallo and profar

id want those and mazara at least though but im sure texas will try like hell to keep nomar

this is a sellers market with very little quality starting pitching available and its not a particularly good fa crop either -- best thing for the white sox is if the astros and rangers who are divisional opponents with strong farm systems get in a bidding war

Yea I read that last night.I hope the white sox aren't pump faking like the bulls did on draft night. They would be fools not to trade sale and quintana they could get franchise changing hauls for both and get some nice pieces for robertson, eaton etc also

Add the red sox too they were one of the 1st to call.If the white sox can get moncada,devers/benitendi,swihart and a pitcher thrown in for sale that would be crazy haul. Then I'd trade quintana to the dodgers for 1 of those young pitchers they have (de leon, urias, holmes) and a young position player or 2.I'll believe it when I see it I don't think the white sox have the guts to do it.

yeah im not spending money on the white sox anymore until they rebuild for sustainable success

as a fan hoping for unexpected success every year isnt fun

just stuck hoping for a season where nothing goes wrong

smh

hoping for nothing to go wrong in a game where failure is the norm is a bad philosophy

giants on a horrible al east road swing

dropped their 6th in a row to the yankees yesterday

but the dodgers have been too anemic to take advantage as of yet

They white sox are currently 26th in attendance.Only teams who's fans never show up to games like oakland, miami, tampa are lower that's terrible for a market this big.The fans don't show up unless they are good.

They have absolutely nothing to lose by doing this and most of these players being discussed in hypothetical trade scenarios are close to mlb ready like 2017-2018 eta's or are mlb ready right now.I bet if the fans had a core of young exciting players to watch grow together they'd come to watch them.Everybody see's what the cubs and astros are doing.
