I don't know what your point is?

I wouldn't have an issue with my wife obtaining her masters and then staying home with the children for however long she decided. If, we can afford the debt then it's not an issue.

That's you, bruh; Which is why I said you're enabling.

Degree, but no job..

Debt, but no income..

New field, but no experience..

Adult, but being taken care of..

The issues pile up fairly quickly, fam.

And will she be willing to have dude hold her accountable for her stay-at-home duties the same way I'm sure she'll hold him accountable for his check magically appearing? Is the house gon be clean every day? How often is she gon make dinner? What is her job past "taking care of the kids?" Who's gon hold her accountable?

Seeing as how dude called in abt this, I'm sure they've already argued about it, which she's using her position in his life as ( a woman ) / his Wife / the Mother of his children as leverage..

I agree with you in a general sense about taking care of an adult but you really are underestimating just how much time and energy goes into raising a child/children and taking care of a household...it ain't no Peggy Bundy stay at home watching Oprah all day.

She not talking about employment tho.

She's talking about long-standing debt and a two-year period of unemployment.

She not even talking about working on having a better job by the time the kid's in kindergarten.

Her being dude's Wife / the Mother of his Kids doesn't change what this is. It's 2016, you're enabling.

but why not get out of debt faster...

the faster yall outta debt the more of life you can enjoy...

and what age is the chick we talking about and how long married should be another question.

Perhaps they are enjoying life by supporting each other in their endeavors. Every investment doesn't have to have a cash return. Damn. It's like that's all most of yall think about and perhaps that's why most cannot find any fulfillment in life.

think about this for a second...you fall and your kingdom crumbles. your queen should be able to maintain your kingdom until your return to king status.

an yes, the getting outta debt is not about monetary return....is about enjoying your life more while you are young enough to enjoy it.

so you telling me that if you could retire tomorrow and spend more time with your lady you wouldnt?

It can be that. But I would bet a large sum that woman with a Masters deciding to stay home will have things running like clock work. Children would probably be heading to college at 13 and 14.

Forward thinking men wouldn't have an issue with this at all. People die, get sick, divorced, ose jobs etc. A woman having the means to go out in the work place should it become a necessity is what's important.

yea but....having a degree in a field of work she has no history in is not ...

nevermind

There are plenty of grads that don't work in the field in which they have a degree. So, your point is moot. Having a degree makes one employable. Plain and simple.

you need work history to be considered over other candidates.

just saying...

someone coming out of college at 24 willing to work an someone who sat at home5-10 years....

just saying

Family. Don't make shit up. No where was it said, that the wife sat at home. And again a person with a degree is forever employable. They may not be at particular pay scale or able to step right into a leadership position but they will eventually find a decent gig.

i was giving an example....you make up examples..

but history can dictate the payscale.

if the debt is still there a certain amount needs to be made.

Interesting.

It seems boil down to whether he trust his wife to eventually go back into the work force when the kid is-of-school-age.

Some women fall in love with being at home. She could possibly get pregnant again and stay home even longer.

I did think about it and my Queen having a masters degree would be able to maintain IF and when I was able to return to my former status.

Of course I would but that's not we are discussing now are we? In this scenario we haven't even raised children and you've already jumped to retirement.

That's this issue. This dudes issue is he married the wrong one. How do you not trust your wiz to do the right thing? Period.

I'd do it if no alimony was a part of the agreement and she's responsible for paying her student loans back.

And that's the key. "Agreement".

A lot of old, married couples, always have one thing in common when I talked to them. They all throw in the word "agreement" or "understanding" in their conversation with me. A lot of divorced and single ppl are stubborn and flakey AF.

yea...thats me...i think of the future and the what ifs and even then you cant plan for random shit.

i personally think a nest egg is the most important thing....

build that first and then we talk about someone staying at home.

Says ppl with degrees don't work in their field

Then says having been a degree makes you employable

Must be 2 sides

Exactly! This woman is bugging. I don't see why anyone would want to put them self in that much debt just to stay home with the kids. On another note I don't think I could be a SAHM EVER. I would love my kid to death if I had one, but I need to make bread.
