So these Somalis don't identify as black after all

We are not the only group that refuses to be identified as black look at every other africans that migrated to North America. Nigerians,Sudanese Ethiopians and so on all refuse to be categorized or label as blacks. You hear time after time "i am african" We don't share anything with the blacks or african american or whatever you want to call them.

I am not black. Why should I label myself something I am not. Somalis especially Canadian Somalis need to give it a rest. Jamaicans don't even consider themselves black. They will tell you that they're not black.

I have never in my life heard of an African (besides *some* Ethiopians/Eritreans/Somalis whom I would personally consider to be black Africans but ultimately respect what they identify as individually) or a (black) Jamaican claim that they weren't black. Not once, ever. I can think of countless examples to the contrary. Besides some Nigerians online, my father is the only African I've ever heard of make anti-AA comments in the past (at specific moments but that was never his general overt attitude) and even he never denied being black.

What Somalis and other Africans have in common with Black Americans that matters is the fact that they're sentient beings, we feel the exact same happiness and pain. Besides that, black Americans (and anyone with some modern African ancestry) are ethnic Africans (Yorubas, Mandinkas, Kongo people, Mbundu people, Akan people, Wolofs, ). If ethnicity, unlike culture or nationality, is determined by family heritage then the 18th century African slaves who developed the black American culture and ethnic identity never stopped being ethnic Africans just because they developed a new ethnic identity borne out of their southern slave experience because their genealogy never changed, their Americanized children and descendants inherited their African ethnic identities as members of their families and this isn't contradicted by their having created a new one, just like a man who starts a new family with his wife doesn't stop being a member of the family he was born into. I was thinking about this the other day and forgot some of my better points, I could probably give a better argument but it's what make sense to me now.

In Africa , they dont identify with blk.

Again, besides some Ethiopians/Eritreans/Somalis online I have never in my life heard an African claim that they did not consider themselves to be black. You couldn't even bother to throw in a 'some' or even a biased presumptive 'most' in there. The association between being racially black and ethnically African American is a primarily American concept (although I have heard some white Canadians, West Indians etc. claims that Africans aren't black, and some people claim that West Indians and AA's are black but not Africans). You hear Africans and other people complain about this day in and day out, how have you not gotten that by now? You just ignore all of the people who don't support your preset assumptions about entire groups. Ultimately it doesn't matter who's black or who isn't, nobody deserves respect or compassion for being black, but besides telling people that they're not something that they have always taken for granted, identified with or prided themselves on, it's almost a slap in the face to all of the African, Afro-Latino and Afro-Caribbean immigrants who have to endure racial discrimination because they're black, not just ethnic prejudice or discrimination because of their national origin (not to mention blacks in South Africa during apartheid or blacks in African countries generally under colonialism).

I honestly thought the Somalis who denied that they are black were a minority, but after finding that site I am thinking that the situation is reversed. So I am genuinely surprised. Some of them are so vehement about it too. Seems like they have contempt for the negro race, as they call us

Some do and some don't. They're individuals. Some of them are very proud to be black and pro-African unity. The Somalis who don't exemplify what you assume to be the majority are just as Somali as the ones who do. Don't criticize them for choices made by other people. Some blacks on West/Bantu African descent have contempt for Somalis so I'm sure it goes both ways.

Everybody (That looks black) from around the world that comes here, but identifies with nationalistic origin, will get a nigga-wakeup call once these white pigs go upside they head (because they're black).

What somalians need to understand is, when u come to America, all that i'm not blk shit, needs to stay over there.

theres levels to this shit

first most of them identify by nationality/tribes etc. but then they also identify by race to a certain extent

The Fuck. Some Somali dude said that, not me. Are you really that dumb?

People who grow up in places in Africa like that dont come up in the same society of America. That whole "racial" thing yall identify with as has been in America is European sht. Used to divide and exploit. Shouldnt surprise anyone that everybody doesnt identify with it. Everybody aint in the same box. Really why would they identify with American/European terms? That shows they aint been indoctrinated. People aint got to be in the box you may want them to be in. Different culture

They do identify as white though. With the influx of nonwhite immigrants there's been a growing white nationalism in Europe
