He's a rapper (inb4 the outrage)

If he's not then you niggas need to also strip Jarule, Kanye West, Childish Gambino, Chance, J.Cole, 50 Cent and others of the title who consistently sing on records. You niggas are being choosy cuz you don't like him.

Drake is hated af in The Reason for no good reason. I've had ppl PM me to ban posters who cosigned or GOATed positive Drake news and clap threads, like wtf SMMFH LOLOL. If you don't like him just post in another thread. Oh and this thread should not go platinum but I digress -_-*.... Threads about Drake, gay people and sex always do big numbers on the IC SMMFH

I don't think you'd find anyone who disagree's with ya

But he's a pop artist cause he makes Pop music. Period

He's in the same lane as Lorde and Meghan Trainor

Word. Then so is Andre 3000

His debut solo album was him singing and his last major hits were pop records with him singing LOLOLOL. I just want to see how these niggas will react to that.

Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik

ATLiens

Aquemini

Stankonia

And plenty of guest verses for him just rapping. 3000 ain't shit like Drake other than Love Below.

And singing the hooks of your songs ain't shit like singing entire songs like Drake.

They also sold 10 million and the biggest hit to date is Dre singing Hey Ya...Outkast could very well be considered pop...that doesn't mean they're not hip hop but once you hit a certain amount of sales by definition you're pop.

The Way You Move was also a number 1 song on the Billboard hot 100.

And that is a very pop sounding record....it's dope but you can tell it was made for radio

What do yall consider ja ? Mind u three classic

Ja rule got a classic album? Word? This is new to me.

Can you name these 3 classics?

And Ja was a rapper first before he became a pop artist.

I don't listen to drake. His music lacks masculinity.

Just like a lot of you niggas on this forum.

The Love Below wasn't Hip Hop though. Neither was 808s neither is Awaken My Love

Drake is inauthentic no matter what genre you want to label

Pop music doesn't mean successful music. Pop music is a sound that is palatable to a wide range of audiences. Hardcore anything isn't acceptable for all audiences and marketing so with pop you get watered down, children and soccer mom friendly shit.

Hotline Bling- Pop song

Back to Back - Hip Hop

All inauthentic

Hip-Hop is "popular music", so by admission J.Cole, Big Sean, Kendrick Lamar, Jay-Z, are also pop artists in the same label as the aforementioned because they're also competing with Adele, Beyonce and Rihanna for chart supremacy.

Aight.........Drake still pop tho

Deal wit it

Being a pop star doesn't just mean you sing or make catchy people friendly music, it means you are formulaic and you pander to people to make hits, rarely leaving the shallow level for introspection which would alienate your audience.

Drake is the definition of that, he never challenges himself to make anything deep or of much substance, you honestly cannot say that about Andre 3k, even when he made Love Below. Yeah "Hey Ya" was pretty poppy but it still had humor/weirdness and most of that album was more Funkadelic/Neo Soul than disco/r&b, so are you saying George Clinton is pop because he made "One Nation" or Erykah Badu because she made whatever she made?

Some of yall reach to defend the liking of a pop star, but just own it, Drake caters to little girls, gays and you, its all good. He's like NSYNC or Justin Beiber, just the target demo has changed with the time, now ignorant urban music is the bar. Even Rihanna and Beyonce are more edgy than your boy.

And "The Way You Move" is a radio song, but its not pop, its very urban and unapologetically Big Boi/DF/Outkast style, they just had a style that everyone fucked with... Hence their decade long dominance of the charts making music they wanted to make, not trend chasing.

Word? This has to be a Canadian census because Ja Rule has no classic album in any state in the U.S.

Pop just means popular music so anyone who is at the forefront of their industry is going to make the billboard charts of POPULAR music. Whether or not they made those records to appeal to certain demographics. I've said this before and I'll say it again - black culture today is "popular culture" that means our music, fashion and art and everything about it will be heralded as most popular. You think Future could have made the cover of Rolling Stone magazine 10 years ago ? You think Hotline Bling would have been a hit in the 90s ? You think it's a coincidence white girls are doing squats, getting coffin nails copying our women, white dudes are rocking Timberland's and even give each other dap like we do, social media is dominated by memes written in our style making references to black culture ? That's not an accident man.

I'll leave yall with that cuz I'm officially out......

No Pop is a genre of music. Even tho I don't like Drake he isn't Pop. He doesn't sound like Nsync, or the backstreet boys or Taylor Swift.

Yes,Pop derives from Popular Music but it is a genre just like hip hop, jazz, rock or r&b.

You do realize there's different types of pop music right? Usher sold 10 million with Confessions. That's an R&B album but it was also pop as in popular...Yeah was a pop song...

I dont have a problem with dude's music, but i see most of his hardcore stans been some of most colossal faggots on earth.

Also

Sounds better than the album version.
