We need a refresher: the interviewee ALWAYS trumps the interviewer

In a world of Oreillys and Steven A's etc where that line gets muddied of who tha fuk the talent actually is, reporters lose their damn mind

Your job is to ask questions, not interrogate or demand answers. This happens way too much

That actually reduces reporters to simply being propaganda outlets for celebrities and politicians. If all you want to hear is what the artist wants you to hear you can just get updates directly from their P.R. firm.

In an interview setting the "talent" is actually the journalist and them asking safe questions that either nobody cares about or already knows the answer to isn't talent. That's not to say that they should be purposely provocative or rude but I don't think that was the case here at all.

@ underlined you are wildly incorrect

@ bolded yes, yes, thats EXACTLY what's supposed to happen.

Do the interviewers typically vet the questions they CAN ask? Yes, they do. Ok then.

He's R Kelly, not Benjamin Netanyahu

She's an entertainment reporter, not Katie Couric

Its music, not politics

Aint like she editorialized the shit either.

Right. Its not an op ed. Its an announcement forban album, not an expose'

Thats my point about modern journalism. There was a point in time if it wasnt an op ed, you neeeever saw opinion mixed in with factual news. Its supposed to be dry, right down rhe line. Not now. And these niggas dont know no better, they accept it.

Social media, blogs, vlogs and all that other shit changed the game. You want ad revenue, you gotta make noise. You want traffic, and clicks, you gotta toe the line between trashy entertainment, and solid journalism. That's what the people want, this day and age this is the type of shit that society is drawn to. They want reality TV type drama, they want the Kardashians, not Larry King. Huffington post is excited about this. R Kelly was the top trending topic everytime I looked on twitter today, and as I type this, i bet the nigga still trending. You know how many clicks that generates for their website. Everybody wanna be TMZ without being TMZ. Look at the line of questioning, chatty patty all over the fuckin place.

I tell ya,

We (the black community) got to get a higher standard and code of conduct,

when it comes to defending & justifying a person's (heinous/immoral) actions,

that goes beyond a person having black/brown skin

How so? Was R Kelly singing his interview? If not then he wasn't the talent.

And asking a singer a question about their lyrics really shouldn't be controversial. If that singer happens to be a pedo who continues to sing graphically about sex then it might be perceived as a hostile question but that's only because the media as a whole decided from very early on that they were going to just ignore the fact that this guy was on tape fucking and pissing on a little kid.

It's strange that people choose to defend this guy to such lengths.

How many Black people do you know defend / justify what he allegedly did ? How many on this site ?

Specific examples if possible.

They have bullshit click bait unverified feminazi stories on there all the time , and most of their writers/bloggers are not even journalists, sir.

It's not a scientific journal, but it's not Bossip...

R Kelly is not above appearing on one of their interview segments.

They have the same access to information and experts as any other aggregate news site.
