And my show is called "The College Draft". I call it "The College Draft" because everyone wants to be a rapper, but the ones who are good enough to be under the industries scope are the ones who get to the draft. Like: Joey Badass, Grandemarshalle, ASAP, Sir Micheal Rocks, School Boy Q. I showcase artist in the underground circuit who bring quality music. Although I've been getting respect from people in my city for playing quality and interviewing quality artist. What the DJ said was ABSOLUTELY right. This is a business, the artist I play are "minor league" players, and its funny because I'm one of the one only ones who pushes "minor league" music more then anyone in my country nevermind city.. If you disagreed with what he said, its because you dont understand the music industry. If an artist wants to get exposure on the radio they have to create a HUGE buzz, not just the internet, they have to get the STREETS talking.
They don't play Ghostface, Styles P, etc either so are they also "minor league"
Yes they are...Ghostface and styles P was hot in the early 2000s (obv in the 90s too for niggas who wanna get technical), they had a major league buzz BACK THEN when their music caught the ear of the masses and they were signed to big labels, but now they have a minor league buzz, they still come out with quality but nobodies really checkin for em. I think you think Im trying to insult artist who are minor league but thats far from the case considering I wouldnt be a radio host if they didnt let me play 100% percent of what I want which are "minor league artist", Im just calling it how the industry calls it. minor league>>>>>major league. I'm on your side, dont get it twisted. but its the industry man.
Just because the word "minor" is in there doesnt mean less, peep the context I'm using.
By the way Ghostface is a legend and Styles P is damn near a legend IMO.

It won't. All jokes aside, aside from you NY niggas and a few surrounding areas, nobody really wants to hear that NY sounding shit. And that's just being real.

That seems fairly democratic, tho I think that they should do it more often.

On the newest episode of The Combat Jack Show, Combat Jack invited Hot 97 program director Ebro Darden to the studio to discuss the issue.
Listen to the complete, 75-minute episode below to hear some solid arguments from both sides of the dispute.
