In the early 90's most of the Souths rappers were regional, it wasn't untill late mid & late 90's that Dungeon Family gave the South nation-wide acclaim for lyricism...of course Scarface was an exception.

NY still dominated the 90s with an iron fist, while Master P. Flooded the market with inferior product that sold units despite it's quality, so yeah it's easy to stand out when it's very little competition in your backyard, and it's easy to sell when you the only D-boys on the block.

Thats why they werent getting national attention. Just wasnt enough material from quality artist.

nah man, you acting like Ross is some weakling on the mic, dude can flat out rhyme, he gets more play because of the BMF's and Hustlins but most of his fans appreciate that Tears of Joy, that Valley of Death, that Usual Suspect, that Mafia Music type shit.

First of all, somebody already came in here and said they dont care about rhyme schemes and all that shit so thats a perfect example. Secondly he doesnt have multiple rhyme schemes. And last, you think he can rhyme with the best? Hell nah. He's living off his beats and hooks, dont deny it.

If Ross wasnt with some strong peoples, his ass would have gotten ate today, the mere fact he is still here, and thriving says alot to me, about this mans standing. Thats just logic to me. I think his catalog is impressive, and yes I think he can say he is up there as an MC.As far as the best technical rapper, i cant say that, but he isnt Gucci Mane here, he is very good.

that c.o shit alone would get him laughed out of hip hop. in the 90's you either had to be nice or have a niche (quad city dj's, uncle luke, tag team etc) ross aint nice enough on the mic and he isn't a niche rapper so he would have been a regional legend at best.

I can judge a person based on their associations/affiliations better than I can their teenage employment history.

If real street dudes co-sign you and real street dudes in the industry fuck with you then it dosent matter what some blonde-haired, freckle-faced pre-teen from South Dakota says on a rap forum.

As long as your street ties are solid in your city you can survive anything, or if you are Emenim and you made racist rap songs you can survive by relying on your white fan base.
