How can anyone listen to a song like "Long Kiss Good Night" or "Brookyn's Finest" and say Biggie doesn't have lyrics?

Neither one of those songs were on RTD though.

As a whole Ready 2 Die has more replay value than "Illmatic". There's numerous tracks I can play from R2D at a social gathering with people MY AGE. Try to play some shit from Illmatic and wait for the stares.

Illmatic doesn't sound more dated than Ready To Die...

...Only reason tracks from RTD may get more love is because of the entertainment value, which doesn't prove that the beats on Illmatic sound more dated than RTD. That claim is venturing in the content category, not to mention more people are more familiar with songs from RTD than Illmatic's songs.

I know the IC is in love with Illmatic, but Ready 2 Die is better than it in almost every category.

Production: Ready 2 Die>>>

Entertainment Value: Ready 2 Die>>>

Rapping: Ready 2 Die>>>

Nas might be a better artist, but I think Biggie was the better rapper. Listening to tracks like "Everyday Struggle", "Unbelievable", "Warning", "Party and Bullshit", this album is timeless. "Illmatic" sounds dated as fuck.

first 2 yes, after that no. Since the first two are really close rapping is the only part left, I think nas rapped significantly better than big did on illmatic so illmatic wins. Not a crazy opinion, just disagree

As much shit that people talk about Nas on this forum I really can't see how anyone can say that Illmatic was not classic status. Niggaz claim that Nas can't rap on hot beats - Illmatic had the best producers of the time contributing to it. People complain that Nas isn't keeping it street - Nas was knee-deep in hood life & content on Illmatic. His flow and content was on point. The only album of his that i think is better is It Was Written.

Represent sounds as fresh as a song released in 1994 can sound, i been fucking with both albums since middle school...

...I got the 2004 remastered version, which is different from the 2006 remastered version which has a few samples taken out of like 2 songs due to sample clearance issues.

No one ever said he can't RAP on hot beats. We say he can't PICK OUT hot beats, his ear for beats is average AT BEST

nobody never said that big did'nt have lyrics. It's just compared to nas he looked like a novice in that area.

I disagree. Nas is the GOAT lyricist, but Biggie isn't that far behind

It can be argued either way. Illmatic is better lyrically, but now by much. However, RTD's production SHITS on Illmatic, and damn near every other hip hop album. That's a tough one. I bump Illmatic more nowadays, but only cuz I don't have RTD on my new ipod. Shame on me.

This thread needs a poll bad btw

RTD = Illmatic IMO...

Lyrically...Nas 94 to 96 was untouchable..Big was mad with the lyrics too though...I think the beats are about equal...Flow; BIG still is top 2 GOATs...so...Depends on my mood...

Machine Gun Funk, Everyday Struggle, Ready to Die, Gimme the Loot, Suicidal Thoughts, Warnin''

Represent, One Love, Ain't Hard..., NY, Halftime

Damn they're some classic shits

I agree with this other then lyrics illmatic is a boring ass album the production is sub par at best the songs are good but RTD had more classics songs illmatic is good but very overrated by NY Niggas IWW>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Illmatic Stillmatic>>>>>>>>>>>>>Illmatic Untitled>>>>>>>>>>>>Illmatic hell even I am>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Illmatic my opinion tho.

Nas Lost....

the problem with Nas is he just doesn't convey personality with his delivery, thus bores most fans and that hurts his replay value.

Y'all niggas stay overrating Biggie because he died. Fuck outta here with that bullshit. Illmatic is way better than anything Biggie spit. Way better. I wish Biggie would've stayed alive so everyone could see him fall the fuck off just like his protege JayZ. Then everyone would know for sure that dude wasn't messing with Nas on any level.
