Blaze, this school had another black female valedictorian AFTER Obama was already president.

They very likely can't handle ANOTHER Black female being valedictorian. This is beyond her having a kid, for them to name a WHITE person co-valedictorian screams of racism to me. I know America's history very well, perhaps you should too.

I have standards, not saying others don't but I think over the years due to the fact that most Black people's mothers had them out of wedlock, standards have lowered.

I think this girl should feel blessed that she was even asked considering her predicament, many schools would not have asked her and made it clear that she was a bad example. And she is. As a woman you control your body and getting pregnant out of wedlock demonstrates a lack of thinking skills. Critical thinking skills at that. I didn't even have sex at 17, once again I stand alone, most people in our community are active at 14.................Sad

If she was the first teen ever to do it maybe she would have an excuse. But because she is the million-trillion-gazillion teen to get pregnant way, way out of wedlock, she's simple, she's average. It doesn't matter how well she did in school, unless once again she's the first person to have such a high GPA in the history of the school. lol

If not, no one's impressed. I'm sure the school wanted to show dual ENERGIES, and not just an out of wedlock student who has brains, but at the same time has no brains, lol, lol Racist would have been not asking her at all.

Again no need to get upset I know I stand almost alone at this point in our history. I'm like the last of a certain breed in the Black race. Many of us are at the point where we will do anything and say "what"??? And I can promise you as a highly conscious person this girl will not make it far in life. She doesn't know how to weigh ENERGY like many of us.

The lawyers for the school will simply demonstrate MANY cases where young girls White and Black who where kicked out of their schools for being pregnant, forget valedictorian, lol, lol I love this race you have to weigh ALL ENERGIES not just emotion.

I've always felt that most black people share those same emotions/sentiment as you do. However, I feel that so many black people of today condone promiscuity as if it's A badge of courage....IE the more they procreate it's gonna make them real men.

You dont know shit about black people..

WTF kind of bullshit post is this? She had a child out of wedlock, and guess what she did after that? She pulled herself up and became the BEST STUDENT in the whole fucking school. And you wanna take that away from her?

She shouldn't get her sole valedictorian award just because she had a child at a young age?? You can't be serious, congratulations you have made the worst post in this thread so far.

THis is the deep south...shit is still backwards there wouldnt be surprised if they have seperate proms based on race I know some high schools in the south still do that shit.

I had no idea there are proms in the south where races still have to be separate. I'm starting to believe integration is very overrated.....

The last African-American valedictorian in McGehee School District was in 1989....

False.

High resolution digital pics didn't exist in 1989, and the pics of the most recent black valedictorian are high res and digital.

I already told you I understand that there has been a separation between Black people, those who fell and lowered standards and those who are more old school and have stronger families.

In my family it was a sense of shame if one of the women had a child out of wedlock. Guess the results, I only have one Aunt who did so, and she only had that child, which turned out fine.

So because many Black families of this era don't understand this, that's like almost uncommon in most Black families, many Black people expect others to understand their ENERGY. Well unfortunately that's not how life works.

As I stated when I was younger I heard of Black and White girls being asked to leave the school when they started showing. If I was a Black parent at this school I would be very upset to see some 17 year old Baby Momma onstage accepting such a prestigious honor. I think it is absolutely fitting for them to have at least chosen two.

one girl STAYED IN SCHOOL because she was smart and didn't get pregnant. The OTHER GIRL DIDN'T stay in school but had to go on maternity leave, so sitting around she did a little better lol, lol, lol, lol, lol, lol. I feel such a sense of sadness when I think of this race and how we have gone in the wrong direction.

But as I stated before, I see where you are coming from and why you may think the way you do, to bad you can't see why I think the way I do. It has to do with setting the bar at different levels, I set mine higher when it comes to ENERGY and how one carries themselves. Most Black people of this era simply exist and set standards as they go. Sex at 17 should never ever be rewarded. But I bet you think I'm weird for saying that too, lol, lo, lol

Were just different bro, were just different, and as the years progress certain Black people will have to dissect to take over the image of our culture and sit lower scaled Black people down, that is my mission. Sorry

I'm sure that that should be on another thread so I won't get deep into the convo

However what do you expect what do you think our ENERGY is, is it welcoming in this era. This is why I'm dead set on trying to change the culture. It's at the point you don't even want to be around Black people. Imagine Black people on the dance floor, then White. Unless the school has a lot of V-Nasty's it seems like it wouldn't be an ENERGY match. I don't even like partying with Black people of this era. I think the way that Black women move is dirty, nasty and repulsive and I'm a Black woman. I mean there has to come a time when we face our ENERGY.

And the bottom line is this is not a pleasant race ENERGY wise in this era.....................PERIOD.

Another sorry ass post from you. The girl made a bad choice getting pregnant so young, but she made up for it by being the best student in the whole school. Your point of view is stupid and narrow, you may be a celebrity so to speak, and I believe that you're out of touch now with how the real world works. I'm 27 and don't ever want kids (dont need or want the stress) but I applaud this young Black girl who made up for her bad mistake. If you want to punish her for making a bad choice, despite her more than making up for it, you're an idiot.

blaze you just dont understand the ENERGY

If the "energy" is believing that a girl should NOT be sole valedictorian because of her having a kid at age 17 and being Black, than I say fuck that energy.

People are suppose to learn from mistakes, you don't always turn around and HONOR these mistakes. There's a difference, I'm proud of her too, but I don't think she deserves an award over a child that was in school the ENTIRE year who is not only smart but made better decisions.

See it's not about this individual girl it's about the ENERGY of the situation. You have to look at the larger picture and not get emotional over an individual. This is how nations, communities and environments are molded. Many of us don't understand that, we get emotional over an individual like rioting because of Rodney King, lol, lol

I have EXTREMELY HIGH thinking skills as well as a HIGH CONSCIOUSNESS so I can't help but be on your list of MOST ANNOYING sorry. Most people only address me if they can dissect and attack my points, I'm a great debater, see how I don't have to call you names or curse. I can only frustrate you and leave you saying the same thing over and over. I not only stated why I disagree but how it makes sense to have my view. See Most of us are simply emotional, this is why we can't build our communities and anything goes in them, lol. The bigger picture must always be looked at. You want to keep something like being valedictorian prestigious you set high standards. [/B]

Let me hit it another way, if I was a student at the school, I would not have been impressed by this student. I don't care HOW HIGH her grades where I would feel better then her, and sorry for her child. It's no way I would think she was a better student then me, I might even think they gave her charity and fixed her grades, because her actions don't match her so-called smarts, lol, lol, lol, I would think she's DUMB very DUMB.

And when thinking about the decision of the school....................I think this school was more merciful then I would have been, because she would not have been chosen PERIOD if I was principal. I would have rather picked someone with a 3.7 or 3.9 then her. But what the school did was, in order to maintain a positive image of the youth they said 'let's just have two'. Let's have two so we don't just have a baby mama standing on stage, but we have a truly model student standing their also. One who avoided obstacles plus the one who couldn't.

Here's another thing, of course I have no mercy I am a Black woman from the friggin inner-city, in fact guess where I was born and raised? lol, lol

The Bronx, that's right, the Bronx, off of 233rd not far from Edenwald projects, on the side of town where most Black families owned their houses, but still the Bronx. You always live on the borderline in the Bronx even if you live in a better area, but you know that.

We have to teach our children to be strong. And when one falls you lift them up and salute them in a DIFFERENT WAY, not in the same way others who try harder are saluted in. I'll tell you a little secret deep down inside black children long for those types of challenges to be placed on them. I'm sure this girl wished someone came right out and challenged her not to get pregnant. She seems like the type who likes to be challenged to achieve.

I love this race but I pray everyday we learn to develop CRITICAL THINKING SKILLS, this is why the youth are confused and anything goes in our communities now.
