a shame, Heavy D was one of the good ones.

"Somebody to Love" was my joint...

"Moneyearning Mt. Vernon" & "Overweight Lover in the House" both my joints as well...

You will be missed, gotta go download some ol school Heavy D & the Boyz now..

I wonder how Pete Rock is taking this.

My cousin and I were just talking about Blue Funk last week..

"Nothing But Love, Black Coffee, Now that We Found Love, Overweight Lover,Mr Big Stuff, We Got Our Own Thang, Is it Good to You, Nutthing but Love, Blue Funk, man he had countless joints. I remember my boy Shawn on the 1's and 2's cutting up that line "I'm rough and tuff and all that stuff"

RIP Heavy, can't say i was a big fan but i still loved a couple of your joints and appreciate you, even before you passed away.

It's funny though cuz this thread reminds me of when Pimp C died..y'all remember that? How there was this huge ass 100+ somethin' deep discussin' Pimp's comments about Jeezy and Atlanta, and niggas were not easy on him. I still remember how me (even though i'm not a huge fan, i'm still a lover of UGK's music) and about 2-3 others were the only ones defending him..then once he died it totally flipped and niggas who told him to "kill himself" the week(s) before, were now saying how he was their favorite rapper smh.

not suprised it's hip hop fans are funny like that..but one a sidenote what's with all these dudes dyin in their 40's that's not really old

“The overweight lover’s in the house”

Those are timeless words that came from his mouth

A legendary emcee, the man Heavy D

Left us suddenly as he completed his peaceful journey

While other rappers were talking about being real, he was living it

Time, money and talents, he was giving them

Spreading higher learnin’ in his home of Mount Vernon

Across the world Mr. Big Stuff was money earnin’

He did his own thing and took it big time

Proving to everybody that big people can rhyme

Or do whatever they set out to do

As long as they put the work in and stay true

He wanted somebody to love him for himself

Not for his status or his wealth

Black coffee no sugar, no cream

The kind of girl he wanted on his team

When he found love he didn’t know what to do with it

But he felt honky-dory about things so he went through with it

He jammed with the king, danced with his sister

It’s waterbed Hev, don’t forget the mister

He definitely showed his life in living color

Forever will I miss Hev ‘Diddly’ D

The Overweight Lover…..

RIP HEAVY D

rip heavy d, helped make it cool to say some smooth shit to women and what not and was a big cat not afraid to have fun with this shit
its a shame how much we celebrate great people after they are gone and aren't here to feel it but i hope he left knowing people would miss him and that musically he'd never be forgotten

He really was one of the first rappers to really use swag. Rappers during that time were mainly lyricists, gangsters, or entertainers like Hammer.

I been blasting Heavy on the ipod for years and I have the interview with Foxxhole. Heavy has that dude. It makes me feel old. I see posters on here is think Heavy came out during the stone age. It was 1991-94 he was really popular. Him and Sinbad were big time during those times.

Co-sign, how are you going to be called "ALL HIP HOP" and not sticky this atleast for a week to school the youngin's on who Heavy Was and what he brought to the game. This thread is more sticky worthy than any album thread up there.
