Look what the whole game is saying, I'm telling folks, the man had impact in this community, kids in the 80's grew up with Heavy, he was a rapper you and your parents listened to, it's wild:

Pete Rock: "No words can describe the sadness I feel inside my heart. Hev was my biggest cheerleader, introduced me to the game and he Dwight Errington Meyers p/k/a Heavy D most importantly was my family. This is a very sad night for me. He was good to be true".

Busta Rhymes: "Heavy D is my friend. Heavy D is my big brother. He was my biggest inspiration because I use to want to be like him before I entered the entertainment industry. I’m having an extremely difficult time excepting this. I was just with him at the BET Hip Hop Awards. We both were waiting for our vehicles to pick us up and for 45 minutes we had a deep discussion catching up with each other and talking about the good ole days. When I usually see him it was in passing so it was usually quick but the last time I seen him we really got to talk. This tell me that we were suppose to have that conversation because that was going to be last time I was going to see him. I’m going to miss him. We are going to a better job at keeping each other legacy alive. This news saddens me deeply."

Heavy D performed at the BET awards and he looked healthy. He was dancing around on stage like his normal self and just like he did in his hay day and it was good to see. I am so sad to see a legend in the rap game die so young. RIP "Overweight Lover" Heavy D

Well Joni Mitchell did say, "You don't know what you got till it's gone", Big also said, "Your nobody till somebody kills you". Sadly at times death gives people a different perspective. People that grew up with Heavy always had appreciation from him. I'm sure some in the new school was hating on his comeback performance on BET, but anyone who grew up in the 80's as a kid or teenager, even adults had love for Heavy D. Yo, I was looking up "Juicy" cause of Heavy D today and look at this crazy coincidence.

NOTORIOUS B.I.G. JUICY AUGUST 08, 1994 NOVEMBER 08, 1994 BAD BOY/ARISTA STANDARD GOLD SINGLE SOLO

"Juicy" was certified Gold on 11/8/94, 17 years ago on the same day Heavy D passed away. Crazy.

i think people that witnessed and enjoyed heavy d for who he was are sad and celebrate him now but even with us doing so, there are the people saying rip and they dont mean it

its weird how that works...but never the less, Heavy D is a legend in hip hop imo for the way he could make people have fun and express them self in a smooth way...rip heavy d one more

RIP Heavy, can't say i was a big fan but i still loved a couple of your joints and appreciate you, even before you passed away.

It's funny though cuz this thread reminds me of when Pimp C died..y'all remember that? How there was this huge ass 100+ somethin' deep discussin' Pimp's comments about Jeezy and Atlanta, and niggas were not easy on him. I still remember how me (even though i'm not a huge fan, i'm still a lover of UGK's music) and about 2-3 others were the only ones defending him..then once he died it totally flipped and niggas who told him to "kill himself" the week(s) before, were now saying how he was their favorite rapper smh.

Man, countless singles from 1987 when he first arrived on the scene. We used to rock out at the party to Hev songs. I grew up on Heavy D, even copped some dance moves. One of hip hop's luminaries! And actually in my thread on forgotten gems I posted some Heavy D joints and spent at least a hour watching old Heavy D vids on youtube last week. And I was just recently cleaning up the crib bumping the "Peaceful Journey" album.
