Well at least there was already a precedent for this one. Second black ranger in MMPR (and the original movie) was Asian.

I remember reading how on the original power rangers when they asked about Zach and Trini being the black and yellow rangers coming off as racist and they said initially the yellow ranger wasn't asian. They recasted after the original girl didn't work out and it actually bothered them when it got pointed out by fans the asian girl and black guy were the black and yellow rangers hence Adam and Aiesha becoming the new black and yellow rangers after Zach and Trini left the show. Doesn't shock me they cast an Asian as the black ranger to avoid that kind of controversy in today's social media outrage age

Variety revealed the other two roles of Blue Ranger 'Billy' & Yellow Ranger 'Trini' will be cast as unknowns, but added that the studio are looking for "a big name" to play the role of the antagonist.

I don't know those actors but is this is an all white cast even though we had a brother an asian on the og team?
