The vast majority of the movie going public is white....thats the reality. Being the majority of a minority doesnt mean your going to get the same amount of support as something that will appeal to the masses.

You make it seem like there is some sort of requirement that the majority support the minority with their wallets. They are under no obligation to do so. You mentioned Roots....it was free....it was damn near 50 years ago...there werent NEARLY the amount of media mediums then to choose from as there is now.

All of the characters you mentioned were all white...people go to movies to connect and escape. They need to connect with the character or the environment, culture...something. The Johnny Depp comparison is just idiotic.

You ASSUME that Marvel will inject white characters....again if anything Marvel has gone the complete opposite way Nick Fury and Heimdall. Now are you going to tell me that Avengers and Thor were fucked up because Heimdall and Nick Fury were made black??

Again BP is going to be part of the MMU...neither Spiderman nor Batman are part of these universes so its pointless to bring them up. Wakanda is to BP what Asgard is to Thor. In order for him to be brought into the MMU part of the movie will HAVE to be set in the States....you know LIKE IN HIS ORIGIN!

This is America not Europe, Whites are only 33-35% of the population, minorities make up 60 something %.

Yet year in and year out, the 60 something %, support movies that only represents the 33%.

Thor was not booty juice...and even if it is...thats your opinion. Secondly your critique of the movie has 0 to do with the fact that Edris and Sam were in it as normally white characters. Them being black had zero impact on the story, which is your main issue with the movie. I've been on record in this VERY thread saying that the GOTG movie is dog shit and pointless. I have been on record in this very thread saying that BP will still be made. BP is FAR FAR and away the more popular character, and they will still make more money with BP than GOTG ( which I still don't believe will actually be made). The reason that BP is such a popular character amongst whites is because his story is accessible to everybody. He was created by a white author...Marvel doesnt need to make his love interest white or his best friend white...the story is accessible without all of that.

I think yall being a little hard on GotG. This will be Marvel's first truly cosmic movie. They will have to go all out. Just the scope alone. Unlike with Thor or The Avengers, there is really no reason for the GotG to be on Earth. And I know i'm in the minority, but I like the team's roster.

First of all marvel president has gone on record saying they will release a second set of movies for heroes to tie in like the current avengers so i dont see that changing and this article doesnt say it was cancelled.

Second marvel studios is a studio. To think they wont experiment with there lesser known characters like gotg and howard the duck you arent thinking in the mind frame of a studio head.

Why are people acting like since the GotG aren't well known that nobody will want to see it. Ironman wasn't exactly a household name, and now it's pretty much the premiere Marvel movie franchise. I don't know how GotG will turn out, but if they market it right and the move looks good, people will go see it just off of that and the fact that it's a Marvel movie. On top of that, it's confirmed that Thanos will have a presence in the movie. People who saw Avengers and want to know who the purple guy at the end was will want to see this movie to find out.

Honestly, this movie could be a bust. However, it's been a while since there has been a really good space based action thriller. If Marvel pulls this off, it could be a hit.

Thanos has been established as a future threat for the Avengers and he's confirmed to appear in GotG. It should be pretty easy to make a connection there.
