To whomever said the villian should be the victor more often.....I agree. I think films try to play it safe by following cliches & in actuality, they lose out on the opportunity to make classic cinema. Why not go completely left field & say fuck it.

My movie cliche pet peeve:

The mysterious, misunderstood, brooding high school kid with powers. Twilight, The Covenant, I am Number Four. Its the same story everytime, he has to stay hidden but, can't because a girl notices him. He falls in love. He tells her he's dangerous & that her being in his life could hurt her. She wants to see what he's hiding. Somehow he's 17 but looks like a 25 year old Ralph Lauren model. The villian tries to use the girl & his love against him. They fight to the death, all of the while, he's taking Calculus & AP English lol

the reason why villians don't win often in movies is because it would upset the audience, imagine if Vader threw Luke off the bridge,or Joker threw Batman off the ledge(1989),

also you can't really build a sequel with your main character getting offed. This is what made Scream 1 and 2 dope movies,in the beginning you start with Drew Barrymore(at the time big name actress)and you kill her off in the first 15 minutes and in Scream 2 it was Jada Pinkett, this shocked the audience because in all the trailers and the poster art they're billed

as main characters.Horror movies are usually the exception most villians in these films "win" but that's because they're MAIN CHARACTERS,heros don't lose in movies mostly because

they're main characters.
