Old Heads, how many of y'all accepted that today's hip hop had passed you by?

my ipod is full old music even if A artist I like comes out with some new music if it doesn't sound like there old music I don't want to hear it

"To Hell with all this techno-electro Waka Flocka Flame faggotry...Notes Fam Blocc Music, Keez, address me as your Royal Majesty...". I'm personally not feeling most of today's artists such as Gucci, Plies, etc for the lack of lyricism which creates a need to reach back to my Nas, AZ and Cormega CD's. The wack ass shit doesn't do it for me period !!!

I don't see what the debate is becauz I can name 10 90's rappers that will put the new school to complete shame. so why argue with these pimple-faced nerds that only know chant raps like Chief Keef. hell I'm surprised Kendrick Lamar came from yall generation.

Mainstream music is fuck as fuck across all genres now. You think a Beiber could have made it in any other decade? Even the Chris Browns and Trey Songz of today. these niggas can't sing like them old niggas. They can barely hold a note. But they're good lookin', don't give a fuck about how good their music is and will therefore appeal to the masses.

Rock is a joke, too. So is that damn David Guetta and any nigga who hops on his tracks (Usher SMMFH you fuckin' disgrace)

Really, this is how this place works. Everybody gon listen to whatever they listen to but its kinda entertaining to read people "rage" about Waka Flocka. Haha. Even tho I listen to him and all kinda rappers of today and have no problem with em. This a funny diversion from the real world. Like the Wherever verse the South stuff is pure entertainment too. It has no bearing on reality.

I turned 30 today actually. There's a lot of dope niggas out today. Like...a lot. I always had a problem with old niggas shitting on the current/next generation. Shit is a cycle that'll never end.

Some of these old niggas be so stuck in nostalgia and bitter that they time done passed that they'll refuse to acknowledge anybody with skills outside of their own lil 90s era. People complain about how the music is wack now when really hip hop in particular done drastically improved over like the last 5-6 years. Don't get me wrong there's still plenty of garbage, but the futures looking bright for the genre.

@SwampNigga

that "ttttt-tttttt" shit you hear is form of hi-hat style created by niggas, who for the most part, couldn't really make no beats and used it to cover up their lack of good beat making. problem is,, the shit caught on bigtime and street niggaz felll in love with that shit, and niggaz who could make good beatz and only used the hi hat like a real instrument end up having to dumb-down their tracks to meet the demand. but I wouldn't call it the South's Boom Bap and it definitely wasn't around in the mid-80's early 90's, becuz niggaz I know down south was making beats like the West Coast and Miami Bass(with 5 octaves..lol) for the most part.

Let me school some of these young niggas sbout the south and their style which 2 live crew help started. First of all Early mid West Coast electro rap influence the southern sound.

All 2 Live Crew members except Luke Skyyywalker is from the west coast. 2 live crew is from L.A., they was influence by Jimmy Critter, Egyptian Lover, Uncle Jams Army and all that electro rap that was running So Cal. 2 Live Crew was a west coast group first

Damn that's crazy, I really didn't know that shit.

If you can't find good hip-hop at the moment, you're not looking beyond the radio, I swear.

The best shit has always been underground, so if you stayed underground you would never complain about hip-hop because underground hip-hop has and will always be dope.... but you can't ignore the significant drop in the skill level of popular hip-hop artists. Popular hip-hop use to consist of high skilled emcees like LlCoolJ, Biggie, Pac, Nas, DMX, JayZ and now it's Drake, Wayne, Cole, Lamar and them.

That's a HUGE drop in skill level no matter which way you look at it. and that's what people are complaining about.

Not me. I'm actually open minded to new types of music.
