Sixers

10th pick: I don't want Saric because I am not sure when he will come over. I don't know if the Sixers want to be stashing players for development in Europe with this high of a pick.

Someone school me on this elfrid Payton kid. I heard the kings are looking at him tough

He's a taller Rondo. Jumper is broke but he can still be disruptive in different ways. Gets to rim rim extremely well.. tight handle.. Athletic.. Great PG instincts. He's one of the better wing defenders in the draft.. can guard both the 1 and the 2 if he gets a little stronger. Taking him 8th would be a reach tho. That would mean you passed on either Randle/Vonleh/Gordon/Smart.. he's not in their class. More of a 3rd tier prospect because he can't shoot and he's coming from a small school. His draft range is probably 12-22.

Elfrid Payton's role in the NBA will be probably be similar Norris Cole(he has the potential to be better but his jumpshot needs to improve dramatically). He and Marcus Smart played on the USA U-19 team last summer and won gold. Both we're disruptive defenders(the duo were 1st and 2nd in steals) and allowed Billy Donovan to effectively play full-court press the whole tournament.

They both went at Exum. He hurt his ankle 2nd quarter so he played most of the game hurt and checked out early but here's how they matched up. Could someone post the link?

I am high on Payton his on ball defense is probably the best for his position, good in the pick and roll he just can't shoot that well. Dude racks up the steals too. He is Rondo like without the greater passing skills but he wants to be more of a scorer. I think you want to surround him with some shooters/ players that produce until his shot improves or hopes it does.

Marcus Smart is a better overall defender. Don't sleep on Aaron Kraft either

Yeah Smart will clearly be better because of his ability to guard 1-3 and probably a few tweener 4's. I like Payton's defense on the pick and rolls they both are on another level defensively. Smart is just bigger and stronger so he can guard more players.

Man this video made me respect Marcus Smart's potential even more. If anyone hasn't clicked on this, you should it's Dante Exum's scouting video but it's really shows how he good of a defender Smart is and his potential as a perimeter defender in the NBA.

Marcus Smart absolutely locked Dante Exum up on every single possession he guarded him, damn. That was impressive.

Great drop. This vid further enhances my feeling he will NOT, absolutely not be a PG.

He's quick for his size, but not quick for a PG. Smaller guards would make it hell for him to set up the offense.

He can get by people, but in a street way. You need to get by people off first step and 1 move, not a Tyreke Evans-like handle that takes 3-4 seconds.

Embid will drop to atleast 6-7 now, two major injuries before the draft will scare ppl off.

Good news for everyone outside the top 3, bad news for the top 3.
