I think we need another blocking TE. We got 3 TE's that are "decent" at blocking, but no blocking specialists like a Palmer. You need at least one of those on your roster...

....Especially if you're trying to run more.

Apparently this is the concept they going with. I fuck with it

I might shed a tear when the GA Dome gets knocked down.

My squad plays there. The last time OU made it to the Final Four it was there, I smashed a bish that I met there back in '08, and I was there the first season it was open.

Damn.

Looks like the Baby DB's are ballin so far...

Even though he missed much of OTAs while finishing up his degree at the University of Washington, Falcons first-round pick Desmond Trufant hasn't wasted much time getting on the field and competing. Along with second-round rookie corner Robert Alford, the two are impressing early on.

In the first day of minicamp, both corners broke up passes and did so defending Atlanta's top receivers. The coaching staff rotated players all over the roster, mixing starters with up-and-comers and potential starters throughout, but when the two cornerbacks had chances against the top WRs, they performed well. Roddy White and Julio Jones are two of the best in the league and Falcons head coach Mike Smith thinks practicing daily against those two will help Trufant and Alford more than nearly any other experience in their rookie seasons.

"They're going to be getting their training under fire because they're going to be playing against a group of wide receivers that I think are as good as any when you start talking about Julio Jones and Roddy White," Smith said on Tuesday.

Earlier in the offseason, Smith said both rookies have stood out to him when he's gotten to see them. Although Trufant was late joining the offseason activities, Alford has been with the team all along and both demonstrate the kind of cover corner capabilities that influenced the Falcons into drafting both of them with their top two picks.

"You see their skill set and their ability to play man coverage and that's one of the skillsets that we thought they had," Smith said earlier in June.

Coffman still out chea shining...
http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.co...-offseason-work-draws-praise-from-mike-smith/

With Gonzalez excused from offseason work, Coffman has received more practice snaps, and he has played well, head coach Mike Smith said Thursday.

“Chase has had a really good offseason,” Smith said Thursday at the club’s minicamp, according to AtlantaFalcons.com. “He’s had a lot of opportunities to get some snaps in. He’s made the most of it. He made a couple of really great catches today. We were specifically working on the red-zone area and as you know our tight end is highly involved in the red zone.”

A third-round pick of the Bengals in 2009, the 26-year-old Coffman caught just three passes in three seasons with Cincinnati. Coffman first signed with the Falcons last August but was waived after two weeks. However, the Falcons re-signed him in November after tight end Tommy Gallarda was placed on injured reserve.

The Bengals have moved on from Coffman at tight end, but there is an opportunity in Atlanta for Coffman to contribute if he’s capable enough — and any public praise from the coach, even in June, has to be considered a positive.

Shawty-Lo better step it up if he wanna see the field.

Atlanta may have to come up with a lot more cash if it wants to secure the proposed site for a new stadium for the Atlanta Falcons.

Friendship Baptist Church, one of two churches sitting on sites proposed for the stadium, has rejected a $13.5 million offer for its building and property, Atlanta officials have confirmed.

Mayor Kasim Reed, in an exclusive interview with 11 Alive news, said the church entered a counterproposal of $24.54 million.

“We can’t afford that, so we sent back an offer of $15.5 million,” Reed told the TV station.

They better stop trying to play chicken with Nucky Blank. One day it's gonna be a package on the steps next thing you know

I can't get mad at the rooks. They're just gettin' done like the rest of the league's so-called "best secondaries" have been gettin' done.

All year last year we kept hearing how "great" San Fran and seattle's secondary and defense in general were, and that we "didn't play nobody"...

^^^ And then Ryan, Roddy and Julio had their best performances of the year against the so called best.

For Tru and Alford, this will be like that workout that athletes do when they run under water or with weights tied to them. Once they play the rest of the league's receivers, they'll seem like lightwork.
