NYC has been a police state for a minute now. Damn shame the kid had to go through this. I hope he takes Barney for a lot of money in the civil suit.

People really are ignorant to how people make money. This young black girl had to give a tutorial on how she makes money.

This would be relevant if the article didn't specify that the guy gets his money from a work study job. Those are not known for paying a lot. Also, you're sensationalizing. The girl didn't give the tutorial because she felt like she had to. She clearly said that she was doing it because people watched her video and asked her how she does it.

yeah if you read her comments people was upsetting her and calling her fake, so she made the video.. someone said her purse was fake, then they wanted to know how was she getting money.. Read her comments on her other vids...

2. I don't care if it was a mickey d's job. He has a JOB, and he can do what he wants with HIS MONEY.

1. People said dumb shit in the comments section of her videos. So what? Newsflash: People say dumb shit in the comments of every section on youtube. The fact remains that her reason for making the video was stated in the video and it wasn't what you said.

2. No one is claiming that he can't do what he wants with his money. Some people are just saying it was an unwise purchase. Just because you can do something doesn't mean it's not stupid.

I don't know if your attempting to make a big deal out of this or just want to argue or pretend I'm lying.. The fact is, I was saying that people are into how people are getting money to cause a reaction of people posting vids like that on youtube. I never said her situation was a big a deal. I said people are making a big deal out of how people are getting money. If people was never curious on how she was getting money she would have never made the vid. THE TRUTH! She did it because she was ASKED. So some people wanted to know how she is getting money. WHAT PART DO U NOT UNDERSTAND?

2. If it's unwise or wise, its not your money so it's not really your business, barneys or the nypd's. The fact is it's the BOYS money, and you never know what type of other income he may have. Just because he's a work study student and paid for this belt with his work study check, he could be doing odd ends on the side who knows? Plus its discrimination black or white, to say that WORK STUDY STUDENTS can not shop at BARNEYS or buy certain items.

3. I worked in a university 5 years, contractual full time. I seen different work study students who made different amounts. I worked on the budget at times. You can't judge how much somebody makes by where they work. Just like I was getting 75 cents less then people who had degrees when I just had a certificate. One thing I hate is when people try to put taboos on where people work and what they should buy. It's not your money. Its not your life. It's no-ones business 4real.

to clear this up. don't know who it is that keep quoting me but let me make this clear

when I said MADE, I wasn't talking about a person putting a gun to the young girls head. Thats way EXAGGERATED. I was talking about MADE far as her REACTION to their request MADE her make a VIDEO to explain.

Also far as the young boy. People going in on him for buying a belt.. Would I do it or not is out of the question. At this point it's just discrimination all around the board even if you do not agree with the boy actions. It's still discriminating his actions by assuming he can't afford the belt because he's a work study student and saying they don't make a lot of money.

Evidently it didn't hurt the mother, because she didn't cry about it as if she needed the money for bills. so therefore she must can afford her bills, and feel he can do what he want with his money. so people saying it's unwise are discriminating his actions. Thats all I'm saying, because you do not know everything about his life or how much money he has. He really don't' got to explain, he may got money saved, or maybe his mother or father give him a allowance as well. Thats a little bit too much investigation because the boy brought a BELT. ALL I'M SAYING..

If his mother got kicked out because he brought the belt.. then that may be saying it's unwise. If his kids were starving and he brought a belt then thats unwise. but simply saying he's a work study student or black, so he shouldn't be buying that type of belt or shopping at Barneys is DISCRIMINATION.

Some say he shouldn't get a sue case because he brought a belt. Well it's because they said he stole a card he didn't steal and discriminated and then harassed him about how he get money to afford the belt. Now everyone wants to know his income history and how much money he got to afford this belt. now he got to prove his income.. All over a stupid belt.. thats what I'm saying. thats too much. Going in a lil too deep, even if you don't agree with his actions. You really don't know what type of money he got saved or anything, just judging because he spent his work study check on the belt...

I don't approve or disapprove his actions. I just feel it's his money and his life.

@first i was like fuck this story because i thought he was just denied.. but he got arrested on that shit.. they did the same to some black chick who bought a purse or some shit and showed id shit all checked out..

Its one thing for the store to act like idiots its another for the police to not put 2 and 2 together and realize there was no crime..

hope they sue and get paid

1. I'm not even sure what you're talking about. No one's making a big deal out of anything. This is a forum for discussion is it not. I just said you were sensationalizing things when you described the videos. You made it seem as if the chick felt like she had to make the videos to defend herself against all the people bashing her. I was just pointing out that by her statements, she was making the videos because people asked her questions. An they weren't necessarily asking to hate. If she's making money enough to buy a bunch of expensive shit, there's a good chance most of those people were asking her how so they could do the same thing.

2. Nobody is arguing about whether Barney's or the NYPD is wrong. Everyone one agreed with that a long time ago. And no it's none of our business what he does with his money, but the story is out there, the topic is made, and everyone has every right in the world to have an opinion on the quality of the purchase.

3. Nobody is putting taboos on anything. You're taking shit too personal. People make money and they can buy whatever they want. That doesn't make whatever they buy smart. Nobody in here is acting like they want to go and forbid the kid from making purchases. Some people just have the opinion that it was a dumb purchase, and that's a fair opinion. I'm not sure why that upsets you so much.

^ what I was saying if you read her comments, she is responding to the people and certain people were bashing her. and others were taking up for her.. she's a 17 year girl, never sensationalized anything. I said that people are very curious about how people get money so thats why you got videos like that online. Everything else you said is "extra"...

she's the black/korean Icarly... (my opinion) before controversy

far as the boy purchase, it do not matter if the purchase was dumb or smart, thats what I'm saying. Never got upset.. It's just not other people business. Just like if a person have a whole lot of money but decide to shop cheap. Then people will say the person is "broke" because they got a whole lot of cheap items.. which is a assumption and false judgment.. Same way with judging a purchase that is expensive. Especially saying it's dumb because he's a work study student, but not if he made 6 figure a year. so thats a discriminatory thought. If it's a dumb purchase for a work study student then it's a dumb purchase for someone making 6 figures.. it's just a purchase.

I get what you're trying to say. The problem is that you act as if there is nothing wrong with making irresponsible purchases, when clearly there is. As I said a long time ago, if dude has some hidden stacks and the purchase means nothing then fine. However, if all he's got is that little work study job, and he blew it on a belt (the type of thing a lot of young black people do), it was a dumb decision. And if you think there is nothing wrong with making those kinds of decisions go talk to all the former pro athletes that made millions of dollars and have nothing to show for it or all the people in debt to their eyeballs because they want to portray a lifestyle they can't really afford.

How can you cosign that statement? I can understand agreeing with her overall sentiment, but what you quoted is stupid.

Again, most people aren't talking about what he bought. I personally think spending that much on a belt is dumb, but I'm not some fashionista ass nigga. Still, that's not even what I'm criticizing.

If you can't see the difference between spending 350 on something like that when you got 525 in the bank vs spending 350 on something like that when you got 5250 in the bank, then I don't know what to tell you besides go work on your basic arithmetic or something. Not saying those are exact numbers, just making the point.

I think people are exaggerating. .IDK but buying a belt isnt living a lifestyle you can't afford. It's a expensive material possession. & if he had 300 from his work study check he could afford it. Stealing to obtaining it would make it a purchase he can't afford.

He's a teenager still, newbie in college. At this age I had responsibilities such as bills, and even when I lived with mother as a teen, I had to pay my way. I can't recall a free ride, so I don't agree with irresponsible behavior. However I recall working part time in hs, and I had no kids and paid my dues ( I had rent as a teen I owed a certain amount a month) after that the money was mine. I would spend 200 on some shoes when my check was 250. Thats because I had no other responsibilities. So what I'm saying after you pay your bills or dues and your in the clear its not really irresponsible. Now if the mother would have said she was in need of money when he did this, and they were struggling then that would be irresponsible.. but dude mother seem to be fine. So he felt he could afford it. Eventho he's not making 6 figures, he felt he had the cash to blow. Thats his call on it. It don't really mean he's living a lifestyle he can't afford because he buy a few expensive items. My opinion.

It don't make his purchase dumb or smart.. it just might not be your taste.. just like some people make a lot of money I wouldnt pay a whole lot of money just to buy certain things even if I made that much. It's my opinion

So niggaz attempting to claim to know how much money dude got in the bank and whether or not he can afford it ?

And that makes you how much better than the profiling pigs again ?

What's really important about the article ? If you let these posts tell the story, you'd swear dude actually did something wrong.

High school and college are different. When you go to college, you're supposed to be at least trying to work towards independence. If you go off, get a work study job, and spend all your money on frivolous shit because you know your parents will take care of your needs, that's a problem at least in my opinion. But hey that's just me, when I was coming up I couldn't wait to get out and try to make it on my own. Everybody isn't like that and it seems there are lot of people that want to defend dependency. Again, I don't know the whole story with this kid so I'm not saying that's definitely what he's about. But your defense of him seems to be that it's ok for him to spend most his money on frivolous shit as long as someone else is taking care of his needs.

No, maybe your reading isn't as good as your typing thus leading to you making that post, but I clearly said that I wasn't claiming those numbers to be real, just giving a counter example to the silly point she made and you cosigned. Regardless of what the reality of story is saying that the wisdom of a purchase doesn't depend on a person's finances is silly.
